The Eden Flap Satchel is available in traditional colors like black and butterscotch/black but the ones that catch my eye the most are the color block bags.  A fluorescent pink and orange with black accents is my favorite but the navy blue and green bag is a close second and is the more practical color scheme of the two.  The bag itself is on the small side being that it is 9.75″H x 10.5″W and only 4″ deep. I do not know where you live but by me the thermometer has taken a dive and the days of wearing short sleeves and open toe shoes are most likely over until spring. It is time to start thinking about winter coats and there are so many great ones to choose from. I personally have more than one coat, a casual yet very warm jacket as well as a thinner, wool coat that can be worn when temperatures are not too cold. My wool coat is in need of a replacement and I think I have narrowed down my next purchase to a Duffel Coat with toggles.

A Duffel Coat ( also  spelled DuffLE ) is made from duffle, a coarse, thick, woollen material. The name is derived from a town called Duffel located in Belgium where the material originates from. This style coat was popularized by the British Royal Navy who issued these coats in a camel color to its soldiers during WWI. The coat was modified slightly and reissued again during WWII. Large stocks of surplus material made these style coats readily available at a inexpensive price to the general public and in the 1950s and ’60s these were a very popular style of coat.

Besides the material used to make these coats, there are a few other features that make these coats recognizable. One the the most obvious is four front wooden or “walrus teeth” fastenings with four rope or leather loops to attach them to. Lesser obvious features are two large outside pockets with covering flaps and a hood with buttonable neck strap. One of the most famous iconic characters who wore a Duffel Coat is Paddington Bear.

The 2011 New York Bridal Market has just come to a close and here are some the trends to expect to see in the year ahead for bridal dresses.

The most important thing to remember is to find a dress that suits you. Do not pick a dress based on what you think looks good in a magazine. Your wedding dress is unique to you and needs to represent you. There are a lot of dresses with 3-dimension with ruffles and textured material. Lace is a classic staple to a wedding dress and will never disappear from wedding dresses. Bling and jeweled dresses are going nowhere, they are here to stay. The natural waistline from a 1950s style silhouette dress is classic and will look great on everyone. Who doesn’t want to look like Grace Kelly or Audrey Hepburn on their wedding day? There will be some dresses influenced by Kate Middleton but not too many because sleeves constrict arm movement and it is hard to dance and move around with your arms tied down. If you do want to try to create the Kate Middleton look try wearing a Bolero, Shrug, or even a dress with detachable sleeves. If you want be daring you can even choose a dress in an unconventional color like black.

Recently Twilight actress Ashley Greene was seen at the Pink For Pilates Benefit along with her adorable Toy Fox Terrier, Marlo. Believe is a color that was originally made by Deborah Lippmann in collaboration with Cher earlier this year so many may already own this shade but if not you should definitely pick it up on its own or as part of this trio. Believe is described as a Metallic Sizzling Shimmering Gold Beige but that description really does not give it much justice. It is a gorgeous streak free foil finish polish that leans more towards the silver side than it does the gold.
Here Comes The Queen is a Juicy Couture Deborah Lippmann exclusive. The shade is a very sheer gold glaze that can be worn on its own or used layered over another color to add some gold glisten. If you choose to wear it on its own you will need at least 3, possibly four coats of polish to get a decent gold infusion, otherwise the gold is not very visible.
Jewel In The Crown is also a Deborah Lippmann Juicy Couture exclusive and can be described as a shimmering pewter. The shade looks like it may have tiny micro glitter infused adding to the shine and glimmer. Of the three colors, this is the one that is peaking my interest the most.

The other 3 piece collection is called Shimmer and Shine. It includes Bring on the Bling, Whatever Lola Wants, and Since I Fell For You. All of shades that have previously been released on their own so if you do not want the entire set you can buy them individually. If you are interested in all three colors it makes sense to buy the set to save some money. Bring on the Bling sells for $20 and the other two colors sell for $16.

Bring On the Bling is a shade that has been released previously and included real virgin diamond powder. The polish is meant to be worn over other colors to give them a sparkle and shine that otherwise is not present.
Whatever Lola Wants is the shade that Deborah Lippmann created with entertainer Kelly Ripa and named after Kelly’s daughter, Lola. This sparkling lavender is sweet and feminine. A somewhat sheer iridescent lavender, it shimmers and sparkles like a diamond. It is the perfect year round polish.
Since I Fell For You is the only opaque color part of this trio. It dries in a satin shimmer finish. The color is a rich shiraz red color. It is the perfect classic red shade that will never go out of style.

The other part of the Juicy Couture Deborah Lippmann collaboration is with the Hand warmer / Nail Polish Set. Each set comes with a hand warmer and a nail polish in the same shade and meant to be worn together. The hand warmers are fingerless so your nails will show. It is a pale pink glitter with a bit of grey to tone done the girlishness and add an edge to the polish.  This is another color that is perfect for the holidays as well as will be a great shade to wear in the spring and summer.

Besides being the third ( and best  shade in my opinion) Butter London Holiday 2011 color, The Black Knight  is also the name of a beloved character from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. This polish is a black base with pink, blue, silver, and black suspended in it. This reminds me of Christmas lights at night as they twinkle in the darkness. I love this color and will definitely be buying this shade

Trends to look out for for Spring / Summer 2012. 50s retro revival Hollywood glamour, boxy cuts like 20′s jazz age revival. Neutrals will be mixed with canary yellow and  ice cream palettes. Two distinct silhouettes are popular for spring / summer 2012 : One will be  dropped waist with clean lines reminiscent of ’60s fashion. The other has a retro  ’50′s feel to it with nipped waist with belted look,  peplum skirts, wide hips with broad shoulder look.

2012 is very retro influence with modern takes to it. There are a lot of  mix matched prints.  Continuing on from the fall winter looks, Androgynous pleated trousers, jackets with mens tailoring will be quite popular.

This dress has a tulip skirt, making this dress very different ( in a good way) from most other wrap dresses. I love the wrap belt which allows you to tie the dress so the bow is either on the side or in the middle of the dress. The dress is most likely not going to be work appropriate but you can get much use from the dress by wearing it out at night.

You can definitely wear it for occasions not work related as well.
