Brilliant Flames Returns to Set the Brickyard Ablaze!

Guess what’s making a comeback this weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway? That’s right- it’s our WINNING paint scheme- Brilliant Flames! Anticipation for the return is building and it will be back for the first time since its triumphant trip to Victory Lane in Kansas! I cannot wait to see those flames set the Brickyard ablaze!

While remaining at the top as the points leader week after week, JG has steadily gained ground and racked up points with his skilled maneuvers and smart strategies. He knows that car like the back of his hand. And, if need be, his team is always right there to help him with any issues that may come up during races, as made evident by JG’s Twitter page, which gives us behind-the-scenes insight into dialogue between JG and his awesome crew.

Speaking of being the leader, this weekend also marks the 20th anniversary of JG’s inaugural win at the Brickyard! No wonder he’s had such die-hard fans since the beginning of his career – he’s had some incredible and monumental wins season after season! How awesome and fitting would it be to see JG back in Victory Lane kissing the bricks on the 20th anniversary? With JG behind the wheel, I have every confidence that the Brickyard will be on fire! Go JG and go Team 24!!

Fast Color

Did I tell you that we paint fast cars? One glance at the standings is all the proof you need, with three Hendrick Motorsports drivers rightfully positioned in the top three slots! With Jimmie Johnson with three wins, Dale Jr. with two, and JG with one, I’d say HMS is sitting pretty so far this season, with plenty more excitement to come!

As for the other cars we paint…oh you didn’t know that we paint other race cars? Axalta clearly supplies paint for the whole HMS team (#24, #5, #48 and #88). However, you might not know that we supply paint for all of the Stewart-Haas cars (#4, #10, #14 and #41) in the Sprint Cup Series, as well as for the JR Motorsports cars (#5, #7, #9 and #88) that race in the Nationwide Series. We also supply paint for the Kyle Busch Motorsports trucks (#51 and #54) that race in the Camping World Truck Series. Pretty cool, right? Like I said, we paint fast cars.

Axalta-painted cars have made 18 trips to Victory Lane already, and the season is far from over! So this weekend, when you’re watching the races, whether it be the Nationwide on Saturday at Road America or the Sprint Cup on Sunday at Sonoma, make sure to keep an eye out for the “A”!

"Brilliant Flames" Lit Up Victory Lane!

Did I call it or what?! I told you to look for Brilliant Flames in Victory Lane and guess who showed up, Brilliant Flames! JG certainly didn’t disappoint this past weekend at Kansas Speedway! Brilliant Flames looked so good in Victory Lane. It was raining confetti—a girl could get used to seeing that! JG is all about the firsts: this weekend marked the 20^th anniversary of his first career win; the first race ever held at Kansas Speedway was a JG win; the first ever Kansas night race landed a JG win; and JG’s points position keeps him in FIRST place.

Whether you were at the track, watching from home glued to your TV, or following anxiously on Twitter, you could just feel that Saturday night might go our way. Speaking of Twitter, did you catch the awesome chatter between Eddie & JG about Brilliant Flames when the lights went out at the track? I must be psychic, because I totally called that our scheme would light the night and be easy to spot from any angle around the track! With a car this hot, how could you miss it? Oh, I love the Twittersphere. Team 24 was hyping up JG fans by asking for encouraging tweets and good thoughts. There were so many positive Tweets, it was clear that Axalta Racing and Team 24 have the best fans. With a crew as on point as Team 24, a driver as skilled as JG, and fans as loyal and encouraging as all of you–we’re unstoppable.

Wish I could fast-forward this week to Saturday when the excitement of another night race is bound to bring more thrills in Charlotte during the All-Star race! JG has the experience and the track record to have a brilliant finish–he’s won three All-Star races. He has won not one, but four championships and has 89 career wins. I know which star I’ll be rooting for, the brightest one. Go JG and Team 24!

There’s No Place Like Home–Except-Victory Lane!

What a fast and furious race season! There have been so many twists and turns and exciting events both on and off the track! From multiple Top Five and Top Ten finishes, to events like the unveiling of the Jeff Gordon pediatric treatment room and the debut of the specialty paint scheme Aggie Brilliance. There’s never been a dull moment. Even after an unfortunate mishap this past weekend at Talladega Superspeedway, when Brad Keselowski’s spin out caused a wreck that was like a web entangling 14 drivers, including my fav, Jeff Gordon. But that’s okay because for four weeks in a row, Jeff is still the points leader in the overall standings of the Sprint Cup Series. What a testament to the No. 24 team’s brilliant racing! The team is on fire!

Speaking of fire, get ready to catch those flames! We are all looking forward to the return of Brilliant Flames this Saturday at Kansas Speedway for its inaugural night race! Did someone say, “Lights, please?” No need because the flames on the Axalta No. 24 Chevy SS will be burning up the track for all to see! Not only is this Axalta’s first night race of the season, but as you know, it’s a first for the track as well! How exciting for Brilliant Flames to return during primetime! It brings new meaning to the term “night rider”. Hmm, no “K” necessary. I’m sure you’ll only be able to catch glimpses of the car as it whips around the track blending in with the night! Look out for the brilliant colors of the flames to guide the way like the North Star, despite the night, you might need to wear shades! I’ll be looking for those flames to be pulling into Victory Lane again. Oh yes, Team 24 has won here before. Who’s ready for more?!

Texas Takeover!

Every week in NASCAR® is busy, but this week is really BUSY for Axalta – you know what they say: “Everything’s bigger in Texas!” Midweek, Axalta participated in the unveiling of a pediatric exam room at the Children’s Blood & Cancer Center at Dell Children’s in Austin, Texas on Wednesday afternoon. The event was a collaboration between the Jeff Gordon Children’s Foundation, Promise Circle of Austin, and various donors like Axalta who have all teamed up to create an exam room that will uplift children’s spirits and rev up their engines as they look around the brightly designed room with the new Axalta #24 Brilliant Flames paint scheme adorning the wall and fancy cabinetry. Did you know, there’s research out there that argues color can positively impact your mood? Well, we certainly hope that these amazing kids will enjoy Axalta’s brilliant colors. With lots of excitement, a ribbon cutting ceremony, and a fun Axalta Racing-themed unveiling party, the kickoff to our busy week was simply brilliant!

Next up in our whirlwind week was a second unveiling for Axalta! This time we unveiled a brand new specialty paint scheme. Axalta is partnering with Texas A&M University’s Dwight Look College of Engineering. Axalta and the university are developing an internship program that will provide Aggies with real world experience and Axalta with an exceptional pool of talent. The relationship began with Chemical Engineering students visiting our Powder plant in Houston, continued with an energetic Aggie Race Day celebration and “Yell Practice,” attended by Axalta Chairman and CEO, Charlie Shaver, and No. 24 driver, Jeff Gordon.

And at the end of the week–we’re not winding down at all. We have the Duck Commander 500 at Texas Motor Speedway on Sunday, April 6th to look forward to. Axalta, Hendrick Motorsports, and Texas A&M are debuting the specialty paint scheme, Aggie Brilliance, which is the perfect shade of Aggie Maroon! Gordon and his Team 24 crew will also be sporting Aggie Maroon firesuits for the race, too! How cool for the school! Texas Motor Speedway will have a special little debut as well. Did I say little? I meant HUGE! The track is debuting the world’s largest HD screen, appropriately named “Big Hoss,” which will be running an Axalta promo with our signature “A” logo proudly on display for all to see on the gigantic screen measuring more than 20,633 square feet! This weekend will be wrapping up a stellar week with an exciting race on Sunday afternoon that I can’t wait to watch! Look for our awesome specialty paint scheme, Aggie Brilliance, in Victory Lane! Go Gordon! As the Aggies say, Gig ’Em! When in Texas…or should I say, “Win in Texas?”

Tick Tock- It's Time for Another Clock

There’s never a dull moment in this season’s Sprint Cup Series! After a very long, rainy day of delays at Bristol Motor Speedway on March 16th, Jeff Gordon achieved a career best with four consecutive top 10 finishes in the start of a season! It was a great end to a race that seemed to have more delays than most airline flights this winter!

This past weekend at Auto Club Speedway, what looked to be a P1 Victory Lane finish, took an unfortunate turn. Jeff Gordon finished P13 after a last minute caution occurred with just two laps to go, due to Clint Bowyer’s tire failure and subsequent loss of control. Such suspense and drama–the Auto Club 400 definitely proved to be a nail-biter! This season is shaping up to have more twists and turns than the tracks that drivers are racing on!

I’m not a betting kind of girl, but if I were, I’d bet on No.24. After all, his track record speaks for itself. With eight wins, seven poles, twenty-seven top five’s, and thirty-four top 10’s, one could say he’s pretty comfortable around the Paperclip! Martinsville is distinct from other tracks due to the fact that the trophy awarded to the winner is a full-size grandfather clock! That’s one giant trophy to carry home, so it’s a good thing we’ll have our hauler there! Gordon isn’t the only one to have a great track record at Martinsville Speedway. Hendrick Motorsports celebrated its first ever Sprint Cup victory at Martinsville thirty years ago when driver Geoffrey Bodine won during the team’s inaugural year!

With all of these factors coming into play, the STP 500 this Sunday afternoon is sure to be both captivating and exhilarating! I’m revved up and ready to see Axalta Racing’s Brilliant Flames paint scheme pull into Victory Lane. Jeff, go get your timepiece! Go Axalta Racing & Go Team 24!!

"Brilliant Flames" Heads to Bristol

What an exciting start to the 2014 season! As we approach our second of back-to-back paint-outs this weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, TN, the anticipation is building for another great finish by #24 driver Jeff Gordon! Our newly unveiled paint scheme debuted last weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway to pull in for a P9 finish – Gordon’s third Top 10 finish of the season! Three races into the season with all Top 10 finishes proves Gordon is on fire!

Speaking of fire, our new paint scheme, Brilliant Flames, has everyone talking. Yes, the flames have returned and are prominently displayed on the car. This gives the impression that the car is so fast that sheer speed is whipping the flames around it. Many fans who first saw the car at the unveiling on January 30^that the NASCAR Hall of Fame have said it best, “It looks fast, even while standing still.” No truer words have been spoken. Gordon maneuvered around Las Vegas Motor Speedway with agility and speed, while others had a harder time due to an aging track.

All of Hendrick Motorsports’ drivers are having a fantastic start to the season, with all four drivers finishing in the Top 10 last weekend. I would be remiss if I didn't touch on the fact that Gordon’s pit crew did a phenomenal job in Las Vegas. With their speed, dexterity, and ability to work - not only as a team, but as one entity – the crew was a key factor in Gordon’s success throughout the day. “Success” is a word Gordon knows extremely well, especially when it comes to Bristol Motor Speedway. With 5 track wins on his record, he is surely going to be the one to beat this Sunday! If the team continues to work together as they have been, we are bound to have a fantastic season ahead! I know I will be on the edge of my seat during all of the excitement that is sure to come at Bristol. Go Axalta Racing! Look for us in Victory Lane!
