As we are finalising preparations for this year’s Fat Quarterly London Retreat, we thought it would be fun to bring you a giveaway from one of our main sponsors this year, the marvellous Fat Quarter Shop. Fat Quarterly Retreat Sponsors

As part of our preparations for this year’s Fat Quarterly Retreat, we thought it would be fun to let you know who are our sponsors of the retreat this year. And they are:

Moda, who print so many amazing quilting fabric lines and cut them into so many beautiful pre-cuts that we are all addicted to. Goodies from Moda will be in your goodie bags.

Oakshott shot cottons, the British based producer of the most beautiful and richly coloured as well as ethically produced shot cottons which have to be seen and touched to be believed. Michael Oakshott and his shot cottons will be in attendance at retreat this year.

Fat Quarter Shop, the home of the most incredible range of FQ bundles as well as all pre-cuts, yardage, notions, quilting patterns and more.

Eternal Maker are a UK based fabric bricks and mortar and online shop selling an eclectic mix of modern, designer & japanese import fabrics, for crafting, quilting, home-decorating & dressmaking. Eternal Maker will be at retreat at the Saturday night Quilt Market event.

F&W Media are a UK book and magazine publisher publishing many craft titles including Brioni Greenberg and Lu Summers’ upcoming modern quilting books. F&W will be visiting the retreat on the Friday afternoon.

Fabrics Galore is another UK based bricks and mortar and online modern fabric shop, based in South London and selling an eclectic mix of fabrics including an extensive range of Liberty lawns. Fabrics Galore will be at the retreat on the Saturday night Quilt Market event.

The Village Haberdashery is also a bricks and mortar and online UK fabric shop, this time based in North London. Annie opened her bricks and mortar shop earlier this year after the success of her online shop. Annie sells modern quilting cottons and knitting wools and many haberdashery items as the name of the shop suggests. Annie will be at retreat this year on the Saturday night Quilt Market event.

NB: we are not confident that the wifi at Baden Powell House will support card readers so make sure to bring cash for that event!

Free Pattern Coming Soon

Free pattern for this Stars and Stripes quilt (designed by Lynne and made from the most beautiful fabric line – Indigo Crossing by Minnick and Simpson for Moda) coming soon to the Fat Quarterly blog.

Feel free to say how much you like this quilt as I am very proud of it. It makes me feel like I’m a cowboy living in the Wild West corralling and lasso-ing livestock and singing country songs.

Would you like to be a contributor?

We have had many fantastic contributors to Fat Quarterly but are always looking for new contributors or for more contributions from previous contributors. What do we need from you? We need you to be able to design your own project from scratch. It might be a quilt, a pillow, a table runner, a bag or any other quilty item. We need you to be able to calculate yardage requirements for the whole project and write up a pattern. And finally we need you to be able to take good final photos of the finished project. You also need to be able to provide in-progress shots or diagrams showing how the projects is made.

The next two issues are themed “Summer” and “Christmas” and we’d love you to get your thinking caps on and come up with proposals. If there is a new or upcoming fabric line out there that you’d love to work with, we may be able to get hold of it for you.

If you are interested, please email Lynne@fatquarterly.com and include a photo of at least one project you have made and designed yourself. We can either add you to our list of contributors to approach for future projects or you could at the same time put in a proposal for one or our upcoming issues. I look forward to hearing from you!
