Swamp Cabbage Festival in LaBelle

This weekend, February 25 & 26th, 2012 the city of LaBelle will be hosting the annual Swamp Cabbage Festival. This festival has been going on in LaBelle since 1966. This weekend would be a great time to load up the family and join everyone for food, fun, and entertainment!

During the weekend there will be Parade, Rodeo, Food, Arts & Crafts, Miss Swamp Cabbage Festival, Armadillo Races and fun for all ages. The Parade Starts February 25th at 10:00AM at Bridge Street and Cowboy Way. The Parade will go north on Bridge Street to Barron Park.

Each year First Baptist Church has parking available for the Swamp Cabbage Festival. The church parking lot is located on Main Street and Curry Street. This site is just one block from the festival. We ask for a $5 donation to park and this money goes toward our summer mission trip. This year we are going to Guatemala to work in a malnutrition center. All donation taken this weekend will go toward this mission trip.

T - Shirts For Sale

We have Anniversary T-Shirts for sale. The T-Shirts are $10 from Youth to XL Adults. Presently we are out of Large but we have a sign up sheet to get more. 2XL and 3XL are $12. The shirts are light blue in color with a beautiful design of our 100 Years of Ministry.

Reunion Dinner was a Great Success!

Friday night, February 10, 2012 we had our Reunion Dinner for our 100th Anniversary Celebration. Our Hostess committee did a superb job in preparing the BBQ chicken, Baked beans, Cole slaw and wonderful desserts. (How many pieces of dessert did you eat?)

The Social Hall was decorated very nice. Newly made curtains were placed in each window. Freshly painted walls with picture squares with pictures from our past were placed all around the Social Hall and enjoyed by all.

It was a nice quiet evening visiting with friends and family. It was nice watching people going around looking at the old pictures and then go get someone else to show them that they found them in a picture. As people were looking in some of the old directories we recognized people who had hair but now don't. It was good to remember the folks who made up First Baptist Church LaBelle.

Saturday night, February 11, 2012 at 6:30pm we will have our generational Music Night in the Sanctuary. Bring a friend and come join us for a great evening of singing those great hymns of the faith.

Chocolate Covered Strawberries

First Baptist Church LaBelle Relay for Life Team is selling Chocolate Covered Strawberries for Valentine's. This is a fundraiser for our team.

The Cost is $12 a dozen or $15 a dozen if delivered. Strawberries will be ready starting at 3PM in the social hall on February 14th. You can contact someone on the Relay for Life Team of First Baptist or call the church office at 675-2171.

Offering Envelopes

Hopefully by now you have picked up your new 2012 offering envelopes. If you can't find your box of envelopes with your name on them, please let Pastor Frank or Jackie know now. We would like all of our members and friends of First Baptist to have set for their use.

2011 Contribution Records have been made and can be found in the foyer of the sanctuary. If you have any question about your Contribution record, please call the church office.

Mission Trip Fund Raiser

On Sunday, February 5th at 12 noon First Baptist Church LaBelle will be hosting a mission fundraiser dinner. The proceeds of the fundraiser will go to help Olivia Luckey, Tonie Marie Tolar and Brooke Awbry. These three young adults will be going on mission trips during their spring break from Palm Beach Atlantic University.

Olivia Luckey will be going to Haiti, Brooke Awbry and Tonie Marie Tolar will be going to Brazil. Please add these young ladies to your prayer list.

The dinning hall will set up for individuals and families to eat their dinner in the social hall or you can take your dinners home. Donations will be accepted for the meal.

Senior Adult Ministry

First Baptist LaBelle is starting a new ministry for Senior Adults. This group of Senior Adults will meet on the third Thursday of each month at 12:30pm in the Social Hall.

This new group is open to all senior adults of First Baptist Church LaBelle. Bud Rawls, Merileen Cogdill, and Brenda Wickenden are heading up this new ministry. If you would like to know more, please contact one of these individuals.

The next meeting will be on Febraury 16th at 12:30pm. Come join the fun.

Missionaries to Speak

Missionary guests Brian and Pearl Williams will be at the First Baptist Church of LaBelle located at 330 N. Main Street on Sunday, January 15th at 11AM.

They will speak to us on their work at the Vienna Christian School in Vienna, Austria. The school was founded in 1986 to serve the missionary community of Vienna. The children are educated in English using American style curriculum by Christian teachers. It is the only English speaking K-12 Christian School in Vienna.

Our church has supported the William's for the last several years in their ministry. Please continue to pray for them as they travel in the states before they go back to Vienna.

Mission Trip Announcement!

FBC LaBelle is happy to announce its summer mission trip. It will be August 4 - 10, 2012 in GUATEMALA!

In Guatemala we will work at the Malnutrition Center in San Juan, Sacatepéquez, an hour’s drive from our hotel in the beautiful colonial city of Antigua. The Malnutrition Center has been in operation for many years, first as a tuberculosis hospital, and then in the mid 70’s it was changed to meet the needs of children suffering from malnutrition. Nearly half of Guatemala’s children are malnourished, the highest in all of Central America. On this trip we will be loving and caring for children from infants to ten years of age–holding, feeding, bathing, and providing medical care as well as providing spiritual nurturing through Bible Stories, singing, crafts, games and other activities. We will also be working on various maintenance and repair projects in the Center in order to bring the facilities to a standard where more children can be nourished back to full health.

In addition to our work at the Malnutrition Center, we will be constructing homes for families who are currently living with little or no shelter. The locations of these homes and the families for whom the homes will be built will be determined by our partners in Guatemala. There is nothing that compares to the joy that comes when you see the face of a child or a parent who enters the door of his very own home for the first time! The more hands that join us on this trip, the more love we will be able to share with these precious children and families!

Children's Choir Christmas Musical

Our Children's Choir under the direction of Mrs. Debbie White will be performing a humbling Christmas Musical called "The Next Noel" on December 18th in the evening service at 6pm.
Everyone is invited to attend this special presentation, by the Children's Choir of First Baptist Church LaBelle. Come expecting a blessing and bring your camera to get that special photograph.

Adult Choir Christmas Musical

Our Adult Choir under the direction Mrs. Tara Sherrod will be leading us in worship with "Imagine--A Christmas Worship Experience" on December 18th at the 11AM Service.
This musical is open to the public and we welcome you to attend. As you listen to our Adult Choir, we hope the God's Spirit moves within you and brings you near to God.

Community Thanksgiving Service

The LaBelle Community Thanksgiving Service will be held on Tuesday, November 22nd at The Church of God at 7pm. The Pastor from Eastside Baptist Church will be bringing the message. Special Music will be coming from several of our churches. Local Ministers will be reading scripture.
Come and join this special service for our community.

Salvation Army Kettle Drive

Today First Baptist Church of LaBelle, hosted the Kick-off Rally for the Salvation Army Christmas Cheer Kettle Drive. Our children from our First Baptist PreSchool sang two Christmas Songs for the occassion. Parents of our preschool children and many Salvation Army supporters were present.
This year Salvation Army is trying to raise over $600,000 in its Kettle Drive in the Lee, Hendry and Glades Counties.
Our church will be ringing bells on Friday, December 16th at Winn Dixie. If you would like to help on that day, please call our church office at 675-2171. If you would like to ring bells some other time you can call the local Salvation Army Office in LaBelle at 674-1441.

Church Work Day Part 2

Saturday, November 19th we will have our second workday this month at the church. We will begin at 8am and work till finish. We have several projects to finish up and we need your help.
1. Finish painting the outside of the Social Hall
2. Finish painting the inside of the Social Hall
3. Mulching
4. Putting up fence and two gates
5. General cleaning.

2. Pressure washing of sanctuary
3. Installing fence and gate in two locations.
4. Mulching of flower beds
5. General cleaning

Our Church Yard Sale has been rescheduled for Saturday, November 12th from 7am till, to sell many used and unique church items. Money will be put into an equipment fund for future use.

Many church members have expressed that they would like to sell some of their stuff, and be responsible for your own table. All you would need to do is rent a space for $10. The money you make will be yours to do with whatever you want.

Please call the church office at 675-2171 and talk to Jackie, to reserve your space today.

Tell your friends about this Yard Sale so we sell all of our items. The Church Yard Sale will be in the church parking lot.

Trunk - N - Treat

Our Fall Festival will be Monday, October 31st from 6pm to 8:30pm. We are asking members and friends of First Baptist Church to decorate their Trunk's and come be part of the fun at our Fall Festival. The children will come by and visit each of the trunks for fun and candy.

We will have a big slide, bounce house, cotton candy and other fun things. Please invite your friends and come join the fun. We do need donations of wrapped candy. Please bring your wrapped candy to the church office before Sunday, October 30th.

Pumpkin Patch

Our Pumpkin Patch Ministry is off to a great start. Last weekend we had our Grand Opening for our Pumpkin Patch. We had Hay rides, Face Painting, Games and our Corn Maze for the children to go through. Great fun was had by all even though it rained that afternoon. The ladies sold over $300 in bake goods and around $650 in Pumpkins.

Our Pumpkin Patch is open from 10am to 6pm, Monday through Saturday and from 1 to 5pm on Sundays.

Today started our school groups coming to the Pumpkin Patch. Today we had the K-3 and K-4 classes from our First Baptist Preschool. Over the next couple of weeks we are expecting over 1,000 school students to visit our Pumpkin Patch. Please be in prayer for these students as we share with them and for the workers that work with them. Hey, Did you forget something!

Did you borrow something from the church and forgot to bring it back? We are missing tables, chairs, ice chests, pans, high chairs, roasters and etc.

We need your help and ask that you bring back the items you borrowed because we are coming into a busy time and we need them at the church.

Maquire State Mission Offering

The theme for the 2011 Maquire State Mission Offering is Compelled by Christ's Compassion.

Matthew 9:36 "But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd."

The state of Florida, is a Mission Field. May all of our churches work together to reach these people for Jesus Christ. Let's do our part by praying for the lost in our state.

Our Church Goal for this offering is $3,000.00.

Pumpkin Patch Ministry

Church Conference

Our next church conference will be Sunday, August 28th at 6pm during our Evening Worship Service. We will have reports from the Budget & Finance, PreSchool, Nominating, Trustee's and Deacons.

Each member is urged to be apart of our church conference and be aware of what is happening in our church. We have many blessings to share with the church, in what the Lord is doing here at First Baptist Church LaBelle.

First Baptist PreSchool

Our PreSchool is in need of gently used children's books to add to their library. If you would like to donate some books, please bring them to the PreSchool Office at the church. If you questions, please contact Tara Sherrod our PreSchool Director at 675-2171.

Mommie & Me
