From the FCD inbox - a Nationals report from Lakey Peterson:

Hey guys! I just finished NSSA Nationals at Salt Creek and Lower Trestles. The waves at Salt Creek for the first part of the contest were really bad but the thing that kept me going was that if I made it through a couple of rounds there I knew I could surf Lower Trestles with only four people out!

I made it to the Girls Final from advancing at Salt Creek and I also made the Open Women's Final! The final day the waves were great and the sun was shining. The waves were really fun, however, it was VERY inconsistent. So when the waves came, everyone was fighting for them. I ended up getting second in the Girls Final, and I WON the Open Women's Final!

Somehow on my first wave in the Women's Final there was a perfect air section...so i had to go for it. I landed the air and became the first girl ever to do an air in a competition! This gave me a big score of 9 right away and got the momentum up for the rest of my heat. It did come down to the wire, however, because when you're surfing against girls like Malia Manuel and Courtney Conalgue, it's tough. In the last minute I held Malia off of a wave and ended up going backside with another big score which clenched the victory.

This has been one of the biggest accomplishments of my surfing career and I am so exited to go back next year and show my best!
