i love sharks they are so mastyeriuse i have a chunk ripped out off the left side of my hip after my encounter with a 500 kilo great white shark i was lucky because it was only a baby i went under 18 operations to have 17 teeth removed from my hip from the great white shark i have them in a tin under my bed even though i could of died i still wont to now more from these wild creature i love them

Spare me the ecology lesson.

White sharks are generalist feeders and humans are a known, tertiary prey item. White sharks "typically" don't eat petrel birds but will when migrating. Why don't you youtube search "shark takes woman's leg" and then reconcile the evidence of human predation with your silly statement that "they are not man-eaters".

Mr. Skinner was just eaten this January in Fish Hoek, South Africa. You do everyone a disservice by letting your emotions and/or frustrations with humanity cloud your sociobiological analysis, if I may even call it that. Facts are facts. White sharks eat people. I've dived with them, I believe in conservation, but you are flat out kidding yourself. Nothing you write supports your conclusions.

If you have evidence to support your conclusions, let's see it. Your huffy talk is meaningless to me.

You are presupposing that White sharks attack humans the same way they ambuse seals. This is simply not typically the case, e.g., Heather Boswell attack off Chile. Whether or not this incident is legit, it wouldn't surprise me at all if a White shark circled a human once or twice and then came in almost cautiously to complete what time will allow.

White sharks have been protected for some time in CA. I think their "endangered status" is somewhat overstated here. Maybe not in South Australia, but here. I went on a 5 day White shark dive off Guadalupe and we saw at least 15-30 different White sharks.

I grew up in Solana Beach and remember thinking on our junior lifeguard deep water swim past the breakers "hmmm, this is White shark territory." While that was 1986, I saw one rise to the surface at Dog's Beach/Rivermouth in 1999. None of my bros believed me. Until the "case was re-opened" after Mr. Martin (our family vet) was savagely attacked and killed in the exact location we had to do our swim.

So, I would say there are more of them- both mature and juvenile.

Given the location and the fact the body was completely consumed...it was probably a Tiger shark. Definitely not a Sand Tiger shark as shown in the picture.

This was a larger White shark though. They routinely feed on other sharks, particularly if dead where the risk of injury is nil.

Hey Chris when did you paddle around Point Conception. One of my friends use to manage the Cojo ranch and he said he once saw a guy paddle around Pt. Conception. He said if that person is crazy enough to do that, they deserve not to get in trouble for trespassing! So if that was you, PROPS!!!!

ahmm dude...the animals in the picture were not sharks. They are whales that lost their way, dead in the shore. Maybe and mostly bitten by sharks or other animals after death.

I am Born in Mombasa, Kenya, and remember very clearly, whilst I was a Kid, when My school friends and myself have witnessed a few Shark attacks at Fort Jesus, Mombasa, and on my Recent Trip in Mombasa (Dec 2009) There had just been a shark attack on a 15yr Chap and killed him at Likoni Ferry, Mombasa. The Local Papers list these attacks. However, when I check on the World Shark Stats, Kenya is not on the list at all.
Why? Is it that there is no-one reporting them, or these attacks don't matter.
I dont mean to sound rude, but there is a Gap of un-listed attacks around the world. Should there not be someone taking down these records.
