Successful Move

Carl Stahl Kromer grows continuously: Sales increased to 27 percent and the producer of balancers received 35 percent more orders than in 2010. At the same time, space grew tight at the building in Freiburg. So Carl Stahl Kromer moved to a new building in Gottenheim several weeks ago.
After only 14 days, the complete production facility, with its advanced technology, store and administration offices, arrived at the new 1500 square meters building. A few days after moving-in, production resumed on drawing presses, cutting machines, heavy machining centres and modern assembly stands. „Despite extensive logistics, we achieved the restart production without delay“, says product manager Thomas Steinle.
Employees are enjoying more space for producing spring balancers and air hose balancers and the routes between store and assembly have been reduced. Also, the new Gottenheim facility is convenient for traffic. „We are very pleased with the location and have fully settled“, says Steinle.

Carl Stahl KROMER will produce their balancers and retractors at a new facility in Gottenheim, not far away from Freiburg, from next spring-time on. The new building is necessary due to the fact that the present production facility does not fulfill modern technical criteria anymore. Ground-breaking-ceremony was end of June.
The planning itself was realized by the active support of the employees. With the objective to optimize the production flow they have arranged the machines enabling the architect to build the outer hull around it.
The new facility will have approx. 1600 m² for production and approx. 440 m² for office / administration. Furthermore Carl Stahl KROMER will have rooms for seminars and meetings available.

Carl Stahl Kromer launching new spring balancers (retractors)

A completely new series of retractors, with more cable travel range and improved load setting -...

A completely new series of retractors, with more cable travel range and improved load setting - these were the core deliverables for our engineers. Now, almost two years later, we are pleased to officially introduce to you our new retractors.
The new models of the 7200, 7211 and 7221 spring balancer series clearly impress with their stylish design, but the technical improvements, while not hitting the eye, are even more important. All retractors now come with a standardized cable extension length of 1.6 m, 2.5 m or 3.0 m, depending on the model. In addition, the load setting procedure has been significantly simplified by eliminating the spring eye on the outside of the housing. As already successfully implemented in the 7228 balancer, load setting is now done simply with an Allen wrench, and the 7221 model even offers continuous load setting via an adjusting screw. Moreover, the load ranges of all the models have been further optimized for more flexible use across a wider range of different applications. The ease of servicing has also been improved for the 7221 balancer (regarding cable and spring replacement). Besides, this model now offers effective overrotation protection when releasing the spring.
Moreover, the new spring balancers 7211 and 7221 will also be available in an “Air” version - an optimal solution for use with pneumatic tools.
All in all, these innovations will enable customers to use our products more diversely, with more ease, over longer periods and, most importantly, with less fatigue.

Serial freewheel device to prevent spring fracture due to operating errors

Promises must be kept! Yes, we do claim to provide products of the highest possible quality while...

Promises must be kept! Yes, we do claim to provide products of the highest possible quality while keeping operation as easy as possible. Nonetheless, there have been some recurring problems in the past regarding accidental spring fracture when untensioning the springs of the balancer series 7241, 7248, 7251 and 7261.
Therefore, our latest development - a patented freewheel device for the above-mentioned zero gravity balancer models - is bound to have a highly positive effect on the operation and durability of these products, as it reliably prevents spring fracture when releasing the spring. In the past, spring fracture could occur when slackening the spring beyond the zero point. Such overrotation in the “minus” direction is now simply rendered ineffective, with no impact on the spring. You just hear a clicking sound similar to that produced by the freewheel or reverse pedaling mechanism of a bicycle, immediately triggered upon reaching the zero point. Apart from the direct benefit in terms of effective prevention of spring fracture caused inadvertently during spring release, this protection mechanism also increases the balancer's life and ease of use significantly. The basic functions and operation of these zero gravity balancers are unaffected by this measure, thus remaining unchanged.
The new device will come as a standard feature in all of our balancer models 7241, 7248, 7251 and 7261 from 1 July 2008. We?ll notify you separately about a minor price adjustment necessitated by this measure.
