You Were Not Forgotten: Unknown Soldier Honored after 70 Years

On the 4th of July � in Vine Grove, Kentucky � Private Stanislaw J. Komla will be eulogized. It was in 1939 the 49 year-old was laid to rest. For 70 years, he was know only as the Unknown Soldier � until a local family decided 70 years was just too long.

Many communities set aside Flag Day for retiring old American flags. In an annual community event in Louisville, more than 3400 flags were retired this year. A local Post Office coordinates the event.

Federal Employee Benefits Bill (HR 2990) Including FERS Sick Leave Credit

A bill introduced in the House of Representatives would revive benefits for federal employees that were eliminated in the tobacco legislation bill signed into law recently. The new bill includes credit for unused sick leave for FERS employees and the authority to deposit refunds under FERS.
