After years of pointillist drawings, Phil Hansen developed nerve damage while he was in art school and his hand began to shake. He stopped doing art all together and felt lost, until he went to see a neurologist who told him although the damage was irreversible, he should “embrace the shake.” Hansen took this advice to heart and found new ways to create art. He began thinking of limitations he could impose upon his art- one piece using under $1 of supplies, another series of
There are many latte artists around the world, but one especially skilled barista has expanded his craft to not only produce amazing cappuccino "paintings" but to also have them pop out of the cup like foamy sculptures. Based in Osaka, Japan, 26-year-old barista Kazuki Yamamoto explores the unique craft of 3D latte art, proving that even the most mundane jobs can be perked up with a little creativity.
Located in Melbourne, Australia, the Park Lane house occupies an area of 256 square meters. It has been recently altered and extended, a project completed in 2013 and developed by Kennedy Nolan Architects. The house sits on an exposed site, surrounded by the park and the street. After all the changes, it got a fresh new look. It’s been reduced to a simpler volume and the whole design has been, in fact, simplified. It features clean and suggestive forms.
The Fukang meteorite, believed to be some 4.5 billion years old, which is as ancient as Earth itself, was unearthed near a town of the same name in China, in 2000. It is a pallasite, a type of meteorite with translucent golden crystals of a mineral called olivine embedded in a silvery honeycomb of nickel-iron. It’s a gorgeous meteorite, and possibly the most stunning extraterrestrial piece of rock man has ever seen.
Leaf insects or walking leaves are some of the most remarkable leaf mimics in the entire animal kingdom. These insects take the appearance of a leaf to hide themselves from predators. They do this so accurately that predators often aren’t able to distinguish them from real leaves. In some species the edge of the leaf insect’s body even has the appearance of bite marks. To further confuse predators, when the leaf insect walks, it rocks back and forth, to mimic a real leaf being blown by the wind.
Reptile attack: Nothing strikes fear into the human mind faster than the clash between prehistoric crocodiles or venomous snakes and modern man. However, we are not talking about these well-known dangers. In this shocking list, we look at the horrific Monster Lizards and Terror Turtles on Earth. Some are capable of killing, others, dismembering, or simply chewing your hand apart. The sight of a hard shell or thin tail signals danger beyond your expectations…
There are stately homes and former royal residences available for public viewing all over the UK. These provide a great day out and the opportunity to marvel over manicured gardens, pastoral authenticity, opulent adornments, and everything else that’s associated with authentic and traditional British lavishness. Our mind wonders to what it would have been like to live in former Britain. But with century-spanning furniture and timeless extravagant extras, you can make your home one of historic proportions.
Saber-toothed tigers never fail to capture our imagination. In this list, we’ll take a look at the most dangerous, bizarre, and shocking teeth you could ever hope to avoid encountering:
This modern home that you see here is called Villa Piedad which could be translated as “mercy house”. It’s located in San Sebastián, Spain and it has a very interesting history. Originally, on this plot used to be a two-family house that was originally built in 1950. Later on, the house was divided up into 8 tiny flats. This villa is the result of rebuilding and redesigned one half of the under-roof space from the original structure.
The SS Ayrfield is one of many decommissioned ships in the Homebush Bay, just west of Sydney, but what separates it from the other stranded vessels is the incredible foliage that adorns the rusted hull. The beautiful spectacle, also referred to as The Floating Forest, adds a bit of life to the area, which happens to be a sort of ship graveyard.
In an interview with NPR, Hirsch admits, "I shoot pictures for a living and I had stopped taking pictures for me, so I decided I was going to start taking a picture a day."
