Logical demanding questions:
1. When Jesus – peace and blessings of Almighty Allah be upon him – died on the cross. Did he die as a " MAN " or did he die as a " GOD " ?
2. To be " GOD " means freedom from finite forms and from helplessness , and to be " MAN " means the absence of divinity. Can you have the FINITE and INFINITE at the same time?
3. Is God three-in-one and one in three simultaneously or one at a time?
4. If God is one and three simultaneously, then none of the three could be the complete God. Granting that such was the case, then when Jesus – peace and blessings of Almighty Allah be upon him – was on earth, he wasn’t a complete God, nor was the"father in Heaven" a whole God. Doesn’t that contradict what Jesus – peace and blessings of Almighty Allah be upon him – always said about His God and our God in heaven, his Lord and our Lord? Does that also mean that there was no complete God then, between the claimed crucifixion and the clai...med resurrection?
5. If God is one and three at a time, then who was the God in heaven when Jesus – peace and blessings of Almighty Allah be upon him – was on earth? Wouldn’t this contradict his many references to a God in Heaven that sent him?
6. If God is three and one at the same time, who was the God in Heaven within three days between the claimed crucifixion and the claimed resurrection?
7. Christians say that: "The Father (F) is God, the Son (S) is God, and the Holy Ghost (H) is God, but the Father is not the Son, the Son is not the Holy Ghost, and the Holy Ghost is not the Father". In simple arithmetic and terms therefore, if F = G, S = G, and H = G, then it follows that F = S = H, while the second part of the statement suggests that F ¹ S ¹ H (meaning, "not equal"). Isn’t that a contradiction to the Christian dogma of Trinity in itself?See More

Answers:

First off let me clarify that logic in the most simple, cut and dry definition is; reasonable thinking free of contradiction. Contradiction; you can say is to claim opposite things about the same thing at the same time in the same way. Logic is not what you personally believe or what makes sense to you, something can make sense to you and be illogical and vise versa.

To address your first question, A true deity is the type of being that is self-existent, non-contingent, and has the attribute of beginningless eternal life. For a being to be considered a God it can not have begun at a certain point in history nor could it's existence ever end at any point in history.

Death in this context means the end of human life by the spirit being separated from the physical body. Based on this definition a divine being could not experience death, because a divine being is not made up of a spirit and physical body. If that divine being took upon itself human nature then in that human nature it could experience death.

The doctrine of Incarnation states the divine eternal Word of God who in very being is God(John 1:1) took upon himself an additional nature, that of a man and lived on the earth. What is not being said for clarifications sake is that the Word transformed into human nature and stopped being fully divine in being. Thus Jesus Christ was a person who had two beings, divine and human. When Jesus died on the cross he died like any other human being dies in regards to his human nature, his divine nature did not cease to exist nor could it.

As for your second question, I can not be finite and infinite at the same time, nor could you or any other created being. The real question here is could God take upon himself finite human nature and at the same time maintain divine infinite nature? My answer would be yes, in fact I do not think it would be hard or difficult for God to accomplish. God is a being who is so capable and powerful that he can act within nature(or the spiritual world) in supernatural ways that defy the laws of nature and what we consider normal.

To answer your third question, it is clear you do not have a proper understand of the doctrine of the Trinity and this is causing confusion. The doctrine of the trinity teaches God is one simple unified being(meaning a life form, existence, type of living being, nature). God's one being is a total unity and indivisible, but God's being came be described as having distinguishable aspects and attributes. The Bible teaches God is a personal being, not merely a thing without mind and consciousnesses. Yet the Bible goes one step further in teaching God is not just one mind or center of conscientiousness but three.

The fourth question is rather long and made up of more then one question, let me address that now. Let me correct any possible misunderstanding you(or the reader) may have, as I stated in question three's answer God is one being and indivisible. What is being said is not that God is three gods in one God, or one God in three gods, in fact such a belief is not the doctrine of the Trinity, that belief is called Tritheism. Tritheism is considered a heretical teaching in mainstream orthodox Christianity, people who believe such things are not true Christians.

The Trinity does not represent "pieces" of God or parts of God, such a idea violates the doctrine of Divine Simplicity i.e God being one indivisible being without parts. So the first part of your questions is not relevant to the doctrine of the Trinity.

As for the second half of your question concerning how the distinct persons of the Godhead interrelate, before or after the incarnation, let us focus on that from here. When terms like Father and Son are used to describe God this is an attempt to describe the relationship within the Godhead in a way we as human beings could possible comprehend. Ultimately all human language fails to give God's being and nature justice, and it will always be impossible for finite human beings to ever completely understand God fully in this lifetime.

God is one being who is three persons, being is not person and person is not being. For example God has attributes God is all knowing, all wise, all powerful , most merciful etc. God's attributes are not divisions in God's being, having infinite distinguishable attributes does not change the fact God is one being. All of God's many attributes are only aspects of one unified being. The same principle is being applied to the subject of person-hood, persons are not divisions in God's being but aspects of God's being. The Father is God the Son is God and the Spirit is God, aspects of one being, not third's of God's being. The same way the attributes of omnipotence, omnipresent, and omniscient could not be characterized as thirds of God.

When God the Son incarnated and took on human nature, in order to fulfill his mission and the many prophecies made concerning the Messiah, he willing choose to act from his human nature and subject his divine nature to the Father. Only using his divinity in accordance to the Father's will. This is a issue of relation and operation not of being or nature. His willing subjection did not alter his divine being in any manner. After his death on the cross and resurrection(The Glorification) he declared to his disciples that he no longer was acting as a mere humble servant but was king of the universe having all power in his hand.

¹⁷When they saw Him, they worshiped,^[a] but some doubted. ¹⁸Then Jesus came near and said to them, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. ¹⁹Go, therefore, and make disciples of^[b] all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit

As for questions five, six and seven I refer you back to the answers given for the previous questions. The Father, Son and Spirit are not parts of God nor are they gods separate from each other or God's being, so again such questions are not relevant to the doctrine of the Trinity.

To worship Christ, to obey him, to be baptized in is name along with the name of his Father and the Spirit is to be Christian, the word Christian summarizes these things into one word.

If there is a NEW covenant then why would we be expected to follow the OLD one ?

What you eat or don't eat doesn't make you a good person or holy before God. Only the pure in heart will enter Jannah your food doesn't make your heart pure or impure. The dead useless rituals of Islam or any other religion will do nothing for you on the day of judgment.So no Timou Aymen if you think God is going to be impressed becuase of your diet or rubbing tap water on your body or any other ritual you are lost in superstitions. Tap water will never wash away all your sinning.

Now I find it odd that Muslims are so concerned about this when your prophet has violated so much of God's law , instead of only reading the small quotes your Imam told you to read you should be a independent thinker and read the whole passage.

The camel is unclean yet Muslims blind follow behind Muhammad and eat while hypocritically trying to accuse Christians of violating God's law. This was not the only law Muhammad violated and changed.

Borno State in Northern Nigeria has been teetering on the brink of a takeover by Islamist militant group Boko Haram, warned its Governor, Kassim Shettima, a few days before the declaration by President Goodluck Jonathan of a “state of emergency” in Borno and two neighbouring provinces.

The President’s declaration on Tuesday (May 14), which also applies to Yobe and Adamawa States in the country’s troubled North East region, was followed shortly after by the murder of the Secretary in Borno of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev Faye Pama Musa.

Musa, head of REME Assembly in Maiduguri (the Borno State capital) and Chairman of the state’s Pentecostal Fellowship, was reportedly shot at close range by two suspected Boko Haram members in his house, in the presence of his daughter, who pleaded with them to spare her father’s life.

A few days before, Borno's Governor Kassim Shettima had briefed visiting Senators and military advisers in a confidential security meeting on May 7, and warned them Boko Haram was close to seizing power in the state.

"The future is very bleak for all of us as the current crisis is just an appetizer of things to come. Very soon the youths of this country will be chasing us away."

Shettima also said: “Underneath the mayhem of Boko Haram, beneath the madness lies the underlying cause, which is extreme poverty and destitution which have permeated all spectrums of our society.

“Only and until we address some of these issues, believe me, the future is very bleak for all of us as the current crisis is just an appetizer of things to come. Very soon the youths of this country will be chasing us away.”

Reuters quoted Senator Abdul Ahmed Ningi as saying: "What the governor said was frightening. He informed us there is a possibility that this state will be taken over by Boko Haram ... that they have the ability to do whatever they wanted here. I had thought Boko Haram had been subdued to some extent."

On May 14, CAN Chairman in the state, Reverend Titus Pona, who confirmed Musa’s death, said the Christian community in the state capital last week received a death threat from an unknown group to kill or kidnap a pastor, but it was dismissed.

“We never thought that the rumour could turn out to be true, and we’d told the Governor that our area was safe,” Pona told reporters in Maiduguri.

“Of course, there were no killings around this area before and where I am living has also been seen as safe, until they started killing people again. It is very unfortunate that they came to attack an innocent man.

“Our prayer and hope is that the amnesty declared by the President would help to fish out [those responsible] and bring them to justice for the innocent lives they have taken.”

The Governor promised in a condolence message to CAN that the perpetrators would be brought to justice and that Musa’s family would be provided for.

The National President of CAN, Ayo Oritsejafor, and Rev Felix Omobude of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, condemned Musa’s murder and called for improved security following Shettima’s admission that Boko Haram were on the verge of seizing control of the state.

Oritsejafor called for the dissolution of the committee created by the federal government to negotiate with Boko Haram and other violent groups in the country, saying “no reasonable agreements can be reached with terrorists”.

President Jonathan announced controversially last month that an amnesty was being considered with Boko Haram.

Christian organizations and leaders responded almost universally negatively to this idea.

"Why should they be given amnesty?” said Rev. Joshua Ray Mains, Bauchi State Secretary. “Are we congratulating them for the people they have sent to their early graves, or are we encouraging them to continue with their acts so that other groups can take advantage of the amnesty and continue to disrupt the peace of the country?"

However, Bishop Matthew Kukah, head of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, supported the amnesty, saying in his Easter message it would bring the country closer to a new dawn.

“To reject amnesty is to place oneself at the same level as these miscreants,” he said. “An offer of amnesty is not the same as a declaration of amnesty. An offer of amnesty brings the penitent to the table as a first step. Amnesty is a process, not a destination. The offer of amnesty will not solve all our problems, but it will bring us closer to a new dawn.”

The declaration of emergency across the three states, and the resulting mass deployment of military has been welcomed by many groups in the country.

However, the Progressive Governors’ Forum had earlier “implored Mr. President to be consistent with the combination of dialogue and mediation which he has already set in motion, and [hold back from] action on the planned declaration of State of Emergency in the affected states, which we believe would be counter-productive”.

The Reasonable Fear of Islam

Recently I engaged in a back and forth with some Muslims and liberals about the issue of "Islamophobia", which is defined as "an irrational fear or prejudice towards Islam and Muslims". The particular reason for the discussion was a picture that allegedly Berry West a county commissioner in Coffee county Tennessee posted on his Facebook page. It was a photo of someone aiming a double barrel shotgun at a camera with the caption underneath “ How to wink at a Muslim”. The implication of the caption and photo being, we should react to the recent Jihadist terror attacks in Boston with gun violence toward Muslims. Now that’s what I got out of post, the actual person who posted it has yet to explain why they did it or what they were trying to communicate.

Let me be clear as I could possible be here, any hatred, unmerited prejudice, or discrimination toward people just because they happen to be Muslim, or because they have brown skin, or because they are from another country is wrong and sinful. Yet at the same time I must make it clear that fear of the religion of Islam, of actual Jihadist's, or anyone who holds to Muhammad's more radical violent teachings is something in a totally different category. Today non-Muslim’s especially Christians are being killed, butchered, wrongfully detained, discriminated against, and having their God given rights violated systematically across the Muslim world. Because many if not most Muslim majority nations are adhering to or tolerating certain teachings of Islam that justify the subjugation of non-Muslim’s, just like Muhammad and his companions did some 1400 years ago.

The fear of anything that in reality is causing harm and could potentially cause you harm is reasonable. To ignore the real threat of Islamic Jihad in order to not offend adherents to Islam is unreasonable. To ignore Islamic Jihadism because some people take vigilance too far and cross over into discrimination is unreasonable. When 8 year old little boys are being blown to death by IED’s while watching marathons, when entire villages of Christians are being massacred, when women are being enslaved in Arabia and raped, when Black African's are still being enslaved, fearing the ideology behind that is not irrational.

Last but not least the thing that is of utmost importance to this blog, Muslims leaving Islam for salvation in Jesus Christ is still punishable by death according to Shariah law. As long as ex Muslim’s must live with the fear their Muslim relatives, or other vigilante Muslims may kill them for leaving Islam, fear of Islam is reasonable. The majority of honor killings are still being committed by Muslims worldwide, ignoring this fact and being politically correct is wrong on so many levels. People fearing Islam and Muslims who take Islam literally is not irrational, its the very human flight or flee reaction anyone with a rational mind would expect. No, government officials posting offensive calls to violence towards Muslims should never be tolerated, but please do not insult our intelligence by trying to use that as a pretext to claim the fear of Islam is racist or bigoted.

It is being reported that one of the suspects(The youngest brother still on the run) YouTube page has been found by IPT news. One of the things noted is the following as reporting at Atlas Shrugs today:

" The brothers came to the United States from Chechnya, a predominantly Muslim state which declared independence from Russia in 1991, resulting in years of violence and terrorist strikes. Another video Tsarnaev posted was simply called "Terrorists." But that video has been taken down. Yet another that was posted last summer, lauds "The promised emergence of the black flags from the promised land of Khorasan." It celebrates jihadis posing "with a flag of the Taliban's Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan," the Long War Journal reported. The video has an apocalyptic message anticipating a time when the forces of Islam, led by the Mahdi, the Guided One, will conquer the world prior to the Day of Judgment. Part of this battle will be the conquest of the Holy Land. " End Quote

For anyone unfamiliar with what Muhammad the prophet of Islams prediction about black flags coming out of Khorasan means, let me explain. This has to do with Islamic eschatology or the study of the end times. We especially if you live in the West are use to hearing about the end of the world and people making predictions about when this will occur or how. Books about the end times from a more Christian perspective like "Left behind" and the "Late great planet earth" have been big sellers for years. Yet, what most non-Muslims may not be aware of is Islam has its own doctrines about the end times.

This article is not the place to go into great detail about every aspect of Islamic end times, that would probably take a series of posts. What I will speak about is the hadith(narration) reported to have been spoken by Muhammad to his companions about one of the many events that he believed would happen towards the end of the world. Pay attention to the following quote from a Islamic website about the location of ancient Khorasan:

" The ancient Khurasan was the last eastern province of the Persian Empire. Khurasan, in Persian, means the “land of the sunrise”, a natural synonym for East. The term was loosely applied to territories of Persia east and north east of Dasht-e-Kavir. Emperor Babur wrote in his memoirs that Indians used to call all non-Indians as Khurasanis. Regarding the boundary of Hindustan (India) and Khurasan, it is written: "On the road between Hindustan and Khurasan, there are two great marts: the one Kabul, the other Kandahar." End Quote, Source

The significance to our time and the Boston bombers is the hadith mentioned earlier, there are many versions of the narration concerning armies of "black flag's". Here is a list of narrations on the subject:

“Reported on a chain of transmission on the authority of Kaab "The sign of the Mahdi's appearance will be war banners coming from the west, lead by a man with a disability from "Kinda". (Nuaym son of Hammad, Al-Fitan page 205)

Abu Abdullah Nuaim Ibn Hammad on a chain of transmission on the authority of Al Zuhari who said "The black flags will come from the East, led by mighty men, with long hair and beards, their surnames are taken from the names of their home towns (i.e. Khosti or from Khost etc.) and their first names are from a "Kunya".

(Asmal Masalik Lieyyam Mahdiyy Maliki Li Kull-id Dunya Biemrillah-il Malik, Qalda bin Zayd)

Narrated Abdullah ibn Hawalah al-Azdi: "The Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) sent us on foot to get spoil, but we returned without getting any. When he saw the signs of distress on our faces, he stood up on our faces and said: O Allah, do not put them under my care, for I would be too weak to care for them; do not put them in care of themselves, for they would be incapable of that, and do not put them in the care of men, for they would choose the best things for themselves. He then placed his hand on my head and said: Ibn Hawalah, when you see the caliphate has settled in the holy land (i.e., Palestine), earthquakes, sorrows and serious matters will have drawn near and on that day the Last Hour will be nearer to mankind than this hand of mine is to your head.

(Translation of Sunan Abu-Dawud, Jihad (Kitab Al-Jihad), Book 14, Number 2529)

Ammar, the son of Yasir, may Allah be pleased with both of them, said: "When As-Sufyaani reaches Kufa and kills the supporters of the family of Muhammad, praise and peace be upon him, the Mahdi will come and the bearer of his Banner will be Shuayb, the son of Salih."

Nuaim Ibn Hammad on a chain of transmission on the authority of Al Zuhari who said, "If the people of the black flag divide, then the people of the yellow banner will attack, they will gather in the canal of Egypt and the people of the East and the West will fight for seven (days or months or years)..."

Muhammad, son of Al Hanaffia, said:"The Black Banners will come out for the children of Al Abbas. The other black banners will come from Khurasan. Their turbans will be black and their clothes white. At their front will be a man named Shuayb, the son of Salih, from Tamim. They will defeat the companions of The Sufyaani until he comes to the House of Jerusalem where he will establish his power for the Mahdi, and he will be supplied with three hundred (men) from Syria after his arrival and the matter will be settled for the Mahdi in seventy-two months (six years)."

Said son of Al Musayyab reported: "The Black Banners will come from the East from the children of Al Abbas. Then there will remain whatsoever Allah wishes. Then, small Black Banners will come to fight a man from the children of Abu Sufyaan from the East. They will give their allegiance to the Mahdi."

Al Hasan Al Basri said:

"A man of medium stature will come from Ar-Ray (a far-eastern town). He will be dark and from the children of Tamim -- a Wasaj, named Shuayb son of Salih with four thousand men. Thawban, a companion said: 'Then he said something that I do not remember by heart' then continued to say that the Prophet, praise and peace be upon him, said: "If you see him give him your allegiance, even if you have to crawl over ice, because surely he is the Caliph of Allah, the Mahdi. If you see the black (meaning war) flags coming from Khurasan (Afghanistan), join that army, even if you have to crawl over ice, for this is the army of the Caliph, the Mahdi and no one can stop that army until it reaches Jerusalem."

One of the Imam's that the Boston marathon bombers seem to have been influenced by the Internet preacher by the name of Feiz Muhammad. Feiz is a Islamic lecturer based in Australia, he claims to be a Salafi but as anyone should know there are differing strains of Salafiya. This Feiz seems to be from among the "Takifi's" a subset of the Salafi or sometimes called Wahhabi Islam. A hell-fire(for Jews and Christians) preacher who attracts many of the Muslim youth. A response to Paul Williams on the historical context of the term "the Son of God" by brother Stephen Atkins.

Actually this is old Muslim dawah tactic repeated from the Deedat days, I guess if you can still confuse some people with it why update it.

Brother Atkins brings up a very important point I have raised many times myself, the issue of "authorial intent" a principle of the historical-grammatical method, meaning:

"This simply means that we understand the meaning of the words and sentences of the Bible according to the way they were normally used by the speakers of the language, and in their historical context. To do this we must interpret the Bible in light of five factors: its original languages, its historical/cultural setting, its kinds of literature, the principles of communication and understanding, and our own preunderstandings and presuppositions."(1)

The average Muslim apologist or da'ee(one who gives "dawah" or calls to Islam) is starting with the presupposition that truth is whatever Allah and his Messenger have said(which is known through the Quran and Sunnah collections mainly). Most of Islam(at least mainline orthodox) believes Muhammad taught Jesus was not divine and the Trinity is not true etc. Therefore only mishandling of the Biblical text can occur since the Apologist/da'ee is only trying to confirm Islam's position(Islam's late position on Christ) by any means necessary, he/she has no other option Islamicly. Either the Bible really doesn't say what it says, it has been corrupted or both. Any meaningful attempt to look at authorial intent, context, or original language is nowhere on the radar.

Simply put Islam doesn't allow your Imam, Da'ee, or Muslim apologist to interpret the Bible accurately. It's wajib(obligatory) that they have to come to the Bible holding a contradictory predetermined(i.e prejudice) meaning regardless if it's supported by the content of the Bible or not. Whatever rending of the Bible text they attempt, if they even attempt to do so was only a formality until they can get to whats really important... giving dawah.

Anyone who has been keeping up with the massive amounts of Christian persecution in Muslim majority nations knows the problem seems to only be increasing steadily. Many examples could be given but this one stands out since its not just persecution of Christians but Christianity itself...scratched that Christ himself. For background purposes you should know the religious make up of Kazakhstan... " According to the 2009 Census, 70.2% of the population is Muslim, 26.6% Christian, 0.1% Buddhists, 0.2% others (mostly Jews), and 2.8% non-believers, while 0.5% chose not to answer " (1).

KAZAKHSTAN (BP) -- Religious freedom is losing even more ground in Kazakhstan, according to religious freedom monitor Forum 18.

For the first time since Kazakhstan gained independence in 1991, a court has ordered religious literature to be destroyed, according to Forum 18, which is based in Oslo, Norway. Forum 18 reported that 121 pieces of religious literature mostly in the Kazakh language were taken from a believer in the northern Kazakhstan city of Shchuchinsk.

Vyacheslav Cherkasov reportedly was handing out religious literature on the city streets when police arrested him. and a suitcase full of religious books -- Bibles, children's Bibles, books and tracts on the Christian faith -- were confiscated.

The judge fined Cherkasov a month's wages on March 5 and ordered the literature -- Bibles, children's Bibles, books and tracts on the Christian faith -- be destroyed.

"Most likely the books would be burnt," an official told Forum 18.

Authorities accused Cherkasov of violating Kazkahstan's religion law, which was rewritten in 2011 to include more "religious offenses." Cherkasov is appealing the case.

"We know that religious literature has frequently been confiscated since the new religion law came into force in 2011," human rights defender Yevgeni Zhovtis told Forum 18. "But I've never heard that religious literature is being destroyed, unless it is extremist.

"This is terrible, terrible!"

This case seems to highlight the fact Kazakhstan is moving back toward its Soviet era, now joining neighboring Russia and Uzbekistan as countries where courts order the destruction of religious literature.

When Kazakhstan's government enacted the revised religion law in 2011, its restrictions seemingly were intended to curb extremism. However, most of its resulting consequences fell on the shoulders of minority Christians.

Answering a Muslim concerning John 1:1

I seriously doubt he or most Muslims have thought out the implication of John 1:1, or their own aqidah concerning Allah's attributes. And you just have to love it when people like tossing out the word "logical" or "illogical"for things that don't make sense to them.

THE IMPLICATION OF BELIEVING JESUS TO BE THE WORD IN JOHN 1:1-3.

If Jesus is literally believed to be the word mentioned in John 1:1-3, then it will read as follows:
"In the beginning was Jesus and Jesus were with God and Jesus was God. Jesus was in the beginning with God; all things were made through Jesus, and without Jesus was not anything made that were made"

Is this logical, rational and scriptural? Without Jesus there was nothing made that was made? How then did God created the heavens and the earth without Jesus? Read Isaiah 44:24 of the Good News Bible: "I am the Lord, your savior. I am the one who created you. I am the LORD, the creator of all things. I alone stretched out the heavens, when I made the earth, no one help me." Also in Genesis 1:1, the bible said; "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth" (See Isaiah 45:18 also).

How can it be said that it was through Jesus that everything was created when God said that "I can of my own self do nothing"? John 5:30. Finally, if Jesus Christ was created through the word of command by God, then it is no exaggeration to call him God's word. But he was not the creative force used by God to create every thing. The only creative force used in creation is the powerful word or command: "Let there be".

JESUS WAS THE WORD MADE FLESH: John 1:14:- "And the word became flesh and dwell among us, full of grace and truth."

In Genesis 1 verse 3,6,9,11,20,24 and 25, we see how the word: "Let there be" became light, darkness, vegetations, oceans and living creatures. In John 1:14, the word became flesh in person of Jesus Christ and dwelt among us. When God pronounced the word "Let the be Jesus" then Jesus became flesh and was formed in the womb of Mary without a father. The word; "Let there be" can become anything that God wants it to become. The word is also abstract and it is always with God as his creative force.

Whoever wrote John 1:1-3, must have wrongly conceived Jesus as his God. All Christians who believe Jesus as their God will never do justice to John 1:1-3. Whatever the Christians might say, John 1:1-3 can never be reconciled with other verses of the bible if Jesus Christ is believe to be the subject of discussion.

Then there comes to him a man with a handsome face and handsome clothes, and a good fragrance, who says, ?Receive the glad tidings that will bring you joy this day.? He says, ?Who are you? Your face is a face which brings glad tidings.? He says, ?I am your righteous deeds.? He says, ?O Lord, hasten the Hour so that I may return to my family and my wealth.??

?The Qur?aan will meet its companion on the Day of Resurrection when his grave is opened for him, in the form of a pale man. It will say to him, ?Do you recognize me?? He will say: ?I do not recognize you.? It will say: ?I am your companion the Qur?aan, who kept you thirsty on hot days and kept you awake at night. Every merchant benefits from his business and today you will benefit from your good deeds.? He will be given dominion in his right hand and eternity in his left, and there will be placed on his head a crown of dignity, and his parents will be clothed with priceless garments the like of which have never been seen in this world. They will say: ?Why have we been clothed with this?? It will be said: ?Because your son used to recite Qur?aan.? Then it will be said to him: ?Recite and ascend in the degrees of Paradise,? and he will continue to ascend so long as he recites, either at a fast pace or a slow pace .?

Is Isaiah 29:12 about Islam's Prophet ?

¹²And when they give the book to one who cannot read, saying, “Read this,” he says, “I cannot read.”

Many Muslim's quote Isaiah 29:12 and claim this is a prophecy about the founder of Islam. On the face of it if you read the verse(alone out of context) it does sound like what is reported about what happened to Muhammad in the cave of Hira.

From Tafsir Ibn Kathir's entry on Surah Al Alaq verse 1-5:

Imam Ahmad recorded that `A'ishah said: The first thing that began happening with the Messenger of Allah from the revelation was dreams that he would see in his sleep that would come true. He would not see any dream except that it would come true just like the (clearness of) the daybreak in the morning. Then seclusion became beloved to him. So, he used to go to the cave of Hira' and devote himself to worship there for a number of nights, and he would bring provisions for that. Then he would return to Khadijah and replenish his provisions for a similar number of nights. This continued until the revelation suddenly came to him while he was in the cave of Hira'. The angel came to him while he was in the cave and said, "Read!'' The Messen- ger of Allah said,

«فَقُلْتُ: مَا أَنَا بِقَارِىء»

(I replied: "I am not one who reads.) Then he said, "So he (the angel) seized me and pressed me until I could no longer bear it. Then he released me and said: `Read!' So I replied: `I am not one who reads.' So, he pressed me a second time until I could no longer bear it. Then he released me and said:

﴿اقْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الَّذِى خَلَقَ ﴾

(Read in the Name of your Lord who has created.) until he reached the Ayah,

﴿مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ﴾

(That which he knew not. )'' So he returned with them (those Ayat) and with his heart trembling until he came (home) to Khadijah, and he said,

«زَمِّلُونِي زَمِّلُونِي»

(Wrap me up, wrap me up!) So they wrapped him up until his fear went away.

Again when looking at Isaiah 29:12 alone without reading the rest of the context you can see how someone could possibly think this has some connection to the story of Muhammad in the cave of Hira. The problem is this verse like all the verses in the Bible has a immediate context and a larger context, Muslim and their Imam's and apologist for some reason(Dawah?) never consider that when making claims like this. Now I think that should be clear, but also look at this commentary on the passage from The Bible Knowledge Commentary authored by prominent bible scholars from Dallas Theological Seminary:

" In this section a contrast is drawn between the people’s present spiritual insensitivity and their future spiritual understanding.

29:9-12. The Jerusalemites’ spiritual insensitivity was in itself a judgment from God. The people were told to blind themselves (v. 9) but the Lord also caused the blindness (v. 10). The fact that the prophets and the seers did not see and understand clearly was part of God’s judgment. They did not understand God’s revelation about His judgment on the Assyrians that Isaiah recorded on a scroll (vv. 11-12). No one, either people who could read or those who couldn’t, could understand this truth.

29:13-14. The people of Jerusalem, professing to know God, were formally involved in acts of worship but they did not worship God from their hearts. They were more concerned with man-made legalistic rules than with God’s Law, which promotes mercy, justice, and equity. Because of that, God would judge them; their wisdom would vanish. "

"A Christian pastor was recently slaughtered in the Muslim-majority African nation of Tanzania. While butchering Christian minorities is becoming increasingly common in that part of the Muslim world, the context for this latest slaughter is somewhat different than the usual forms of Christian persecution under Islam--such as allegations of "blaspheming" the name of Muslim prophet Muhammad. And yet, as in most forms of modern-day Muslim attacks on Christians, it too fits patterns and precedents.

On February 11, Pastor Mathayo Kachili of the Tanzania Assemblies of God Church was beheaded by Muslims. According to the report, a spokesperson from the local police department

said conflicts had been boiling for quite a while now in the area where a section of what are believed to be Muslim leaders had demanded immediate closure of butcheries owned by Christians. He said that a group of youths believed to be Muslims assaulted several Christians using sticks and machetes and attacked a butchery owner at Buseresere town. According to Religious Liberty Monitoring this latest slaying "has its source in a debate presently raging in Tanzania. Apparently it is a 'long-standing tradition' in Tanzania that Muslims have a monopoly on the meat industry. Recently however, Christians in Geita district, Mwanza region--on the southern shores of Lake Victoria--have entered the butchery trade, causing outrage amongst Muslims."

Tensions got to the point that the Minister of State in the President's Office responsible for social relations "categorically directed that the task of slaughtering animals for public consumption should be executed only by Muslims. He said that people of other faiths may slaughter animals if the meat is solely for family/private consumption--but certainly not for sale to, or consumption by, the general public."

But if they still insist on working in the trade, then they must, according to Karl Lyimo of the Citizen, be "ready, willing, able and glad to follow the Islamic rituals to the letter"--which is tantamount to saying Christians need to convert to Islam if they want to remain in the business. One of the problems I had with Islam as a Muslim was the absence of independent critical thinking among many Muslim I knew and encountered. Many of the questions I had about Islam where not answered or simply asking such questions was frowned upon because as I was told just follow the Quran and Sunnah brother do not say kaf(how).

Islam is a hierarchical religion, you have a group of elites the ulama(Imam's scholars) who are the one's who exercise independent critical thinking and the lay people are expected to make taqleed(blind following). So really Islam does not require you to follow the Quran and Sunnah it requires you to follow them in accordance to what the ulama determine. And even the modern Sunni ulama are not free to perform critical deductive research of Islamic resources freely become the supposed door's of ijtihad(deductive reasoning) have been closed in Islamic scholarship for over one thousand years.

So as a Muslim when you are told Allah is totally transcended and nothing like creation, and then read hadeeth about Allah appearing in the form of a human male, the proper Islamic response is to just accept both ideas as being equally true and not worry about any apparent contradiction. Anyway the ulama probably have a answer to this conundrum but all that is beyond your scope to understand so do not worry about. Even in apologetic based conversations with many Muslims, when contradictions in Islamic sources are brought up the standard reaction is to ignore what is said and change the subject.

I greet my opponent Ijaz Ahmad, our moderator and the audience in Grace and peace.
Today we are discussing is Jesus the Christ a man, God or both. I hold he is both, I use to reject that he was God in man, instead I held he was only a human messenger when I was a Muslim, and I rejected the Trinity as well. After seriously studying the first century evidences concerning Christ, while being logically consistent, I had to change my position, and I now hold to the hypostatic union i.e the belief Jesus had two natures. There is no historical proof anyone during this time held Jesus to be just a man, everyone held him as a man no doubt as well as I, but not even the various Christian cults like Sabellianism, Arianism or Agnostic cults said he was only a man. I hold God is one in being, yet eternally existing as three persons, not three gods or two partners but one God. Also I hold Jesus Christ is the incarnation of the second person of God, not a partner but very God in essence.. God manifested in our world. He shall return riding on the clouds with armies of angels and saints to judge the world.

I will be referencing the earliest known and most attested documents that detail the ministry and creed of Jesus and his disciples, the 1st century New Testament Bible. To assign Lordship, worship or the attributes of God to a creation is blasphemy and the Old Covenant penalty in Israel for that crime was death see Leviticus 24:16. Jesus when questioned about the Sabbath by the Jews offered the following apologetic answer in John 5:16–18, pay close attention to the Jewish reaction:

“And this was why the Jews were persecuting Jesus, because he was doing these things on the Sabbath. But Jesus answered them, “My Father is working until now, and I am working.” This was why the Jews were seeking all the more to kill him, because not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God.”

At another time the Jews reacted to Christs teachings by charging him with Blasphemy, see John 10:33:

“The Jews answered him, “It is not for a good work that we are going to stone you but for blasphemy, because you, being a man, make yourself God.”

And then Jesus is convicted of blasphemy after he ascribes the divine characteristics of Daniel 7:13 to himself before the High Priest, who asks him if he is the Messiah the Son of God at the Sanhedrin. Matthew 26:65:“Then the high priest tore his robes and said, “He has uttered blasphemy. What further witnesses do we need? You have now heard his blasphemy.”

The reaction of Jesus Disciples to his teaching was to believe he was God even if that meant death which we will soon see. If Jesus was not God then he deserved death and hell and certainly could not have been a prophet. If he really was God then the Jews disbelieve like the Quran says, but he still was not just a mere human prophet.

Christ is worshipped across the span of his life from his birth, throughout his life, and after his resurrection like in Matthew 28:17. And Christ ascribed Tawheed Ar-Roobuliya, Uloohiyah, and Asma was sifat to himself.

The Apostle John was taken up into heaven and saw Christ who’s title is the Lamb being worshiped by the whole creation in Revelations 5:13-14
"And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying: 'Blessing and honor and glory and power Be to Him who sits on the throne, And to the Lamb, forever and ever!' Then the four living creatures said, 'Amen!' And the twenty-four elders fell down and worshiped Him who lives forever and ever."

This Jewish Monotheist is declaring Christ has Ruboobiyah i.e Lordship and he recives the Uloohiyah, he receives worship in the heavens. Curiously we see in the Quran in Surah 3:55:

“ Behold! Allah said: "O Jesus! I will take thee and raise thee to Myself and clear thee (of the falsehoods) of those who blaspheme; I will make those who follow thee superior to those who reject faith, to the Day of Resurrection “John one of Jesus followers affirmed Jesus was raised up to Allah’s self, to stand besides his Throne, and even reported him sitting on the throne in Revelation 7:17. Either Jesus is one supernaturally with God the Father or Jesus and his followers were upon shirk, you do not have a third option.

We read Jesus a supposed Muslim prophet declare to his followers who are superior until the day of judgement in Matthew 25:31- 32: the following

31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.

The same ascription to the Son of man prophecy in Daniel 7:13 that caused him to be convicted of blasphemy in a Rabbinical court. Yet we see almost the same description being given to Allah in the Quran 600 plus years later in Surah 2:210:Will they wait until Allah comes to them in canopies of clouds, with angels (in His train) and the question is (thus) settled? but to Allah do all questions go back (for decision).

So who is coming on the clouds? Is it Jesus or is it God, or is Jesus the body representation of God? And why would that be strange when Islam tells us Allah has a human form that he appears in? And Allah’s attribute of speech his Word takes on human form independent from Allah? Again either Jesus is God or he is a disbelieving blasphemer, but not just a mere prophet of the God he claims to be. But the copying of Jesus words by Islam being applied to Allah does not stop there, in the same chapter Jesus says in Matthew 25:35–40:
35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36 I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ 37 Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? 38 And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? 39 And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ 40 And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’
Compare Jesus words to what Islam’s prophet put into Allah’s mouth In a Hadith Qudsi related in Muslim, also found in the book the 40 hadith Qudsi; saying the following:
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: Allah (mighty and sublime be He) will say on the Day of Resurrection:

O son of Adam, I fell ill and you visited Me not. He will say: O Lord, and how should I visit You when You are the Lord of the worlds? He will say: Did you not know that My servant So-and-so had fallen ill and you visited him not? Did you not know that had you visited him you would have found Me with him? O son of Adam, I asked you for food and you fed Me not. He will say: O Lord, and how should I feed You when You are the Lord of the worlds? He will say: Did you not know that My servant So-and-so asked you for food and you fed him not? Did you not know that had you fed him you would surely have found that (the reward for doing so) with Me? O son of Adam, I asked you to give Me to drink and you gave Me not to drink. He will say: O Lord, how should I give You to drink when You are the Lord of the worlds? He will say: My servant So-and-so asked you to give him to drink and you gave him not to drink. Had you given him to drink you would have surely found that with Me.

Is Muhammad confirming Jesus is God or what? Two beings saying the same statements at the day of judgement, or maybe it is really not two beings. Why is he ascribing the words of Jesus to Allah? Also notice Jesus calls himself al Malik another claim to asma was sifat, either Jesus is a kafir, a lunatic or he is God.

The disciples invoked Jesus as Lord in prayer which he commanded them to do which we will see:

“And as they were stoning Stephen, he called out, ‘Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.’ And falling to his knees he cried out with a loud voice, ‘Lord, do not hold this sin against them.’ And when he had said this, he fell asleep.” Acts 7:59-60

The Jews which included Paul who held their coats, stoned him for blasphemy, they had to be aware of Psalm 31:5:

“Into your hand I commit my spirit; you have redeemed me, O LORD, God of truth.”

So did he learn this from Paul... no, he learned this from Jesus, in John 14:13 Jesus says:
“Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you claim the historical Jesus affirmed the first Shahadah and was not God, then you have to explain why he ascribes worship to himself and makes God whom he calls his Father glory dependent on himself.”

Jesus is also worship as Lord In John 20:24-31, Thomas says to the resurrected Jesus Christ:“my Lord and my God/Ho Theos”,

Compare that to Psalm 34:23-24

“Awake, O Lord, and take heed to my case, my God and my Lord (ho theos mou kai ho kyrios mou), to my cause! Judge me, O Lord, according to your righteousness, O Lord my God (kyrie ho theos mou), and let them not rejoice against me!”

The phrase “My Lord and my God” in the Septuagint Greek rendering of Psalm 34:24 is exactly the same as the Greek in the John passage. Applying those words to a mere creation would be blasphemy and Christ never rebukes him like a mere messenger would have to, instead he affirms after Thomas worships him and calls him God and Lord, that now he has believed!

The Apostle John at the end of the same John passage in verse 31 declares: “but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name. “
The Jewish Disciples would have been aware of Joel 2:32 which says concerning Yeweh God:“And it shall come to pass that whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved. For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be deliverance, as the LORD has said, among the remnant whom the LORD calls."

Christ claims to have possessed the attribute of omnipresence also, Jesus said in Matthew 18:20:“For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them."

Christ is saying this while he is still in the world , literally standing in Israel. Compare that to what Moses says of Yeweh standing as a man outside of Sodom and Gomorrah with Abraham:“Then the LORD rained on Sodom and Gomorrah sulfur and fire from the LORD out of heaven” Genesis 19:24

The Followers of Jesus the ones who are superior until the day of judgement said Jesus Christ essence fills the whole universe in divine omnipresence :“He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.)" Ephesians 4:10

Compare that statement to what was said of Yeweh God in the OT:“'Can anyone hide himself in secret places, So I shall not see him?' says the LORD; 'Do I not fill heaven and earth?' says the LORD." Jeremiah 23:24
Now compare that to the much later claim of the Quran which says of Allah in Surah 2:115: To Allah belong the east and the West: Whithersoever ye turn, there is the presence of Allah. For Allah is all-Pervading, all-Knowing.

Jesus Christ claimed to have the right to divine judgement of sins because he could search minds and hearts which he could only do if he was all knowing:I will kill her children with death, and all the churches shall know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts. And I will give to each one of you according to your works." Revelation 2:23

But that ability and right belongs to God:"I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, even to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings." Jeremiah 17:10.

And the Quran says of Allah in Surah 2:235:

..And know that Allah Knoweth what is in your hearts, and take heed of Him..What mere human prophet says such things of himself? He is either God a lunatic or a kafir.
The NT says an army made up of believing Jews from the 12 tribes of Israel will be with Christ when he returns: "And I saw, and look! the Lamb standing upon the Mount Zion, and with him a hundred and forty-four thousand having his name and the name of his Father written on their foreheads." Revelation 14:1

Believers under the New Covenant are a Royal Priesthood like the sons of Aaron were a priesthood under the Old Covenant, 1 Peter 2:5. If the name of Christ and his Father are written on the foreheads of the priests of God then what is that name?
“You shall make a plate of pure gold and engrave on it, like the engraving of a signet, ‘Holy to the Lord.’ And you shall fasten it on the turban by a cord of blue. It shall be on the front of the turban. It shall be on Aaron’s forehead, and Aaron shall bear any guilt from the holy things that the people of Israel consecrate as their holy gifts. It shall regularly be on his forehead, that they may be accepted before the Lord.” Exodus 28:36-38

The Father and Son share one name; Yeweh God, make note in near eastern culture a name was not just a name it was a description of the characteristics of its possessor.

The disciple Peter speaking to a crowd of Jews recounts to them how they have rejected their Messiah out of ignorance , but what he says about the Messiah was enough to have him stoned to death if Messiah was a mere man under O.T Law. Acts 3:14–15
“But you denied the Holy and Righteous One, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, and you killed the Author of life, whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses. “
Most people concentrate on the titles Holy and Righteous one and ignore the title “ ἀρχηγός archēgŏs, ar-khay-gos´“ of Life, meaning the “ initiator, originator, founder, author “ per The Dictionary of Biblical languages Greek . Creations do not author life, to say so again would be blasphemy.

The Ephesian Church Elders discuss Jesus Christ after he had ascended up in a meeting and this following statement is made: “Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood." Acts 20:28

Pay attention, who’s own blood? It was said God’s, God is transcendent in his being he has no blood, not unless God takes on a second additional nature and incarnate as man could he have blood while still maintaining his transcendent nature at the same time , is there anything impossible for the Lord? Compare this to what God says through the Old Testament Prophet Zechariah: “Then I will pour out a spirit of grace and prayer on the house of David and the residents of Jerusalem, and they will look at Me whom they pierced. They will mourn for Him as one mourns for an only child and weep bitterly for Him as one weeps for a firstborn.” Zechariah 12:10

In Revelation 1:7 John prophecies concerning Christ:“Look, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him; and all the peoples of the earth will mourn because of him. So shall it be! Amen.”

Besides the comparison between this picture and the O.T’s Daniel 7:13 where one like a Son of Man comes in the clouds, let me ask exactly who got pierced? God or a man or both? And exactly how would it be possible for God an incorporeal being to be pierced? 2 Corinthians 5:18-19 makes it clear how this could be:“Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation."

The Historical Jesus Christ believed he was the God-Man born of a virgin predicted in Isaiah 9:6, God with us, the Fatherer of Time, El Gibor(The Mighty God or al Jabbar in Arabic), equal in essence to God the Father and worthy of worship. We can not ignore this and pick out the parts of the Bible that conform to our likes. No, independent thinkers take all of the evidence into account and then derive their position, not the other way around. Jesus was either a mere human lunatic blasphemer or he was God incarnate as man, he could not have been a mere human messenger. ---END---
