Die US-amerikanische Sängerin und Songwriterin Katy Perry wurde am 25.10.1984 in Santa Barbara County (Kalifornien, USA) unter dem bürgerlichen Namen Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson geboren. Sie ist das mittlere Kind zweier Pastoren.
Durch den Beruf ihrer Eltern wuchs Katy Perry mit Gospel Musik auf und sang später auch im Kirchenchor. Als sie das erste mal die Stimme von Queen-Sänger Freddy Mercury hörte war sie total begeistert. Als weitere beeinflussende Künstler werden unter anderem Alanis Morissette undIncubus genannt.
