Lilisa J. Williams

Once destitute and homeless, Lilisa J. Williams is now living her dreams.

The four-time author, PhD candidate, and entrepreneur has spent the past 20 years creating and delivering interesting and lively content. She addresses issues and topics relevant to personal and spiritual development. A large part of her mission is to challenge individuals, students, employees, congregations, and professionals to acquire the skills needed to excel as personal, professional and spiritual leaders.

Williams' work has not gone unnoticed. During her career, she has received multiple promotions and awards in the training and development fields, and an array of media attention. Additionally, she oversees the day to day operations of her own training and performance improvement organization, Performance Strategies Unlimited, Inc. Despite success that would indicate a lifelong passion for her vocation, Lilisa J. Williams admits that her journey started with a less than ideal, beginning. Being molested from ages 5 - 18 and dropping out of high school, eventually led to a life of prostitution, drug dealing, and incarceration.

Life was challenging, but Lilisa changed her thinking to not just survive, but thrive. "My focus turned to leaving my past, and arriving to my future," Williams explained. "But I had to take low-paying jobs because I lacked basic skills. I didn't understand what I needed to be successful because of my lack of competencies."

She eventually earned her Associate's, Bachelor's and Master's degrees. During this time, Lilisa found herself exploring and participating in professional training programs. She credits a Vice President of a company she worked with as being the mentor who helped motivate her to act upon her dreams of becoming a life coach and trainer.

Williams derives her ideas from her personal life experiences, interviews, observations, and building upon her knowledge and skills. She attributes her tumultuous success to releasing her power and teaches others how to do the same. Lilisa helps individuals navigate through the intersection of motivation, and sound goals. "Motivation is the key for individuals to remove the barriers in their lives, and do what they have to do," Williams says. "I want to help them remove those barriers."

A dynamic speaker, Lilisa uses inspirational, motivational, educational, and training techniques to connect with her audiences. A partial list of her topics include: Succeeding In The Face of Competition, Out Performing YourSelf, Managing Change & Innovation, Mastering Your Emotions At Work, How To Build A High Performing Team, and How To Communicate With Difficult Employees.

Lilisa J. Williams earned her BA in Political Science and MBA in Human Resources at Farleigh Dickerson University, and is currently working on her doctorate. She is scheduled to graduate in the spring of 2012 from Capella University. Upon completion she will continue to work in the Leadership training.

She is immediately available for interviews and speaking engagements. For additional information, email info@lilisajwilliams and visit http://www.lilisajwilliams.com/
Bullying or Disrepect

I watched a video of the woman being bullied with disgust. I could not even imagine ever treating our elders with so disregard. There children were not bullying this woman, they were being just out right disrectful, this would not have ever happened some twenty to thirty years ago.

I remember it was unheard of to even talk back to our Elders, let alone tease and poke at their physical body as one the students did in the video. These kids need a lesson in respecting their Elders. The parents of these children, are probably just horrified, because they knew they did not raise their children to act badly toward others.

I remember in my youth I did things that would probably horrify my parents, but never in my life I would ever direspect my elders. I know my mother and father would have taken me to the wood shed (we did not have one), but by the time they finished whipping me; I wish there would have been a wood shed to hide away from their wraft.

I would have loved to be a fly on the wall at some of these children homes, especially when the parents had to endure viewing the video.

As a bibical believer I remember reading about child tauting their Elder/Prophet in the bible; as cited at Bible Resources

"23And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.
24And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them."

Now, as you read the children were not spared in this incident. The Prophet Elijah, had all fourty-two children destroyed by the two she bears. Can you imagine, the parents never had an opportunity to even discipline their own children. The only thing left for the parent were to bury the remains of their children. I had thought it was sad to have that happen to these children, but it goes to show in the bible it was disrepectful to "MOCK" or direspect their Elders/Prophet.

Maybe these parents need to sit down with their children and read a lesson from the bible about how they were spared; for I understand the lady is not pressing charges.

Overall, there is a person raising money for this woman, which turns out to be good for her.

Why should our elderly endure trying to work on buses with children direspecting them (this is another topic to raise on my blog...stay tune). God bless this woman!
I wanted to share this video with everyone here at Empowered Christian Women. It it a special moment with my son! We loved having fun, so this is filled with some comedy and serious singing.
Enjoy!

Many mothers share great relationships with their sons, but never expect their sons to grow up and move away from home. Well my son finally decided it was time for his right of passage.

As a mother I pray every day for my son that he makes the right decision, and choices. In the season of his departure, I realized that he does belong to God. God know every decision and choice he will make; only to know that he belongs to God makes me feel alright about the departure.

Then I thought of another woman in the bible that had to release her son, because of the vow she had made with God.

Hannah Cried Out to God! God blessed her with the child she desired! A SON!

Hannah's son was much much younger than my son when she gave him to the priest to live at the temple.
In the natural could you do what Hannah done?
Maybe not, but
when I read about how this mother made a VOW to give her son back to God, after God blessed her to have her son. It brought tears to my eyes.

All I can say about Hannah she had committment, loyalty, strength and power. Hannah gave me courage to let my son go.
Do I miss him? Yes!
Do I trust God enough to protect and cover my son, who is trying to live in this world
alone?
 Absolutely!

Enough said...just keep my son lifted up in prayers and all our young adults.

If you are a believer and your child has moved away from home; know that God will watch over them and keep them.

God love our children and he "chase does that he love" if they stray.

Be blessed!

Beverly is a single mother who raised four children, and needed to move forward in her life, she stated that "she decided to return back to school to get a better education to continue to provide for her family."

Beverly, has defied all odds and is equipped to bring spiritual encouragement to those that are lost. She decided to come on the show to discuss the following:

Are you feeling spiritually challenged?

Or feeling like the church has not fulfilled your spiritual needs.

We discuss some of the reasons for being overwhelmed with church issues; stop by and get spiritually restored.

Evelyn Jackson’s journey started when she was involved in a tractor trailer accident that left her totally bedridden for two years. She learned early on that the corporate world don't support or take care of their own. Evelyn worked in the corporate world for over fifteen years as a supervisor and was fired me because she was no longer able to walk... That's when she realized that having your own business is the only way to go.

The first thing she had to do was find a business that she could do from her bed, which lead her to Avon Products. Evelyn knew how to work the MLM business because she had won the use of a FREE Mary Kay car for a few years. She worked her Avon business from her bed, while her daughter was her legs... Evelyn worked the phone and her daughter did the deliveries with her mom. Evelyn became the first African American Executive in her district; she won two FREE cruises to the Bahamas, which she was able to attend while walking with a cane; she won numerous trophies and monetary gifts. Evelyn was also number one in the entire Destiny Region for Leadership growth, which she have over two hundred people on her team.

It is in her heart to help people grow and to work with the less fortunate. Evelyn has been the Philadelphia Block Captain for over twelve years, which gives her plenty of struggling and learning skills.

Evelyn has helped so many people start their own businesses and a few clients said she should start charging a fee for her services. This gave her a wonderful idea, and this is how D.S.B.G came to life. Evelyn’s first official client, which she is a Co-owner, is Pastry Divas... In Ten months Pastry Divas sold over Three hundred tier/3D cakes. Pastry Divas also sold over a thousand cupcakes and donated over two thousand cupcakes to various organizations. She took Pastry Divas from having no money, to making over $30,000 dollars in ten months.

Evelyn has helped many Micro-small businesses (2 or less owners) become successful, that she has been asked to write articles, and her company has been featured in various Blogs. And she has been given membership to various organizations.

Evelyn’s recent accomplishment is her new Marketing Book... The Divalyn Pleasure Guide to Marketing Your Micro-Small Business. Evelyn named it this way because she wanted you to treat your business as something you love... Evelyn's chapters are unique, but it's all about growing your business. She loves what she does, and wanted to share it in this book. Evelyn states "she is different and it shows in her book and in her marketing style."

Evelyn recently accepted the responsibility of being Chief Marketing Director for a fast and upcoming organization called EUSA. This company is about building relationships with business development associations and other organizations representing the interest of entrepreneurs, as they teach, prepare, network and build for success.

Divalyn Small Business Guru (D.S.B.G.) believes that Social media, Technology and the online presence are very important for growth.

Editor-N-Chief, CEO,
Business Owner, &
Author

Sherrell Straker-Valdezloqui is the Editor- N -Chief of Promoting Purpose Magazine!

Twenty-six year old CEO Sherrell Straker–Valdezloqui, has been working overtime these past couple of months, and has no intentions of slowing down anytime soon. Sherrell feels it is vital that every one seek and find their purpose in life. “In order for us to be satisfied we must find out why we are here and what we must operate and walk in.” Sherrell is not only the CEO of Promoting Purpose Magazine, but she is also CEO of S&V Promoting Purpose Media. This includes internet radio, magazine and other media outlets to make others aware of the ministries God has placed among us to help each other while here on earth. This 26 year old is a worshipper of God, wife, and a mother of 2 girls. Sherrell says she wants her daughters to truly look at her life and see that it is a testimony. She went from a place where people thought she wouldn’t make it because of the choices she made, into a woman that served her country for a couple of years, possessing a degree in business administration, author of two books and currently working on the promise God gave her which is her own business at 26.

Sherrell is walking out in faith and is constantly encouraging the youth to seek and find their purpose while they are young. She tells them you can be a business owner in your teens if you want to. You can be a pastor or a minster as a youth leading and guiding other youth to the Lord. You don’t have to settle for less, for your Father is the King and never hesitates to share His riches from heaven. Sherrell will be extending her publication by coming out with a second magazine called T&Y Promoting Purpose. (Teens &Youths) this will be a bi-monthly publication in which will promote youths that are walking in their ministry and reaching out to others. This publication is targeted to towards the youths in hopes of touching other youths and letting them know. They do not have to be embarrassed to go the opposite direction the crowd is going. Or it’s okay to be you and not like someone else. And most of all never feel embarrass to praise God or even talk about him to others.

Sherrell is also available for speaking engagements to both youth and adults. She loves sharing her testimony about how the magazine got started and how statistics on how to establish certain things can’t be compared to God. To contact Sherrell for speaking engagements please contact her at 910-635-2340.
