What a difference a year makes

That's an under statement based on what we have already seen in over a months of NFL off season activity. We have seen some big time names switch cities to state their claims on their new teams. We have seen one of the most active free agencies in NFL history. It's as if teams are making up for what they missed out on last year. With the draft a few weeks away, I expect to see even more action. There are still a few top rated players that could be moved to new teams for draft picks. At this point, all we can do is sit back and watch the flurry continue.

On top of the crazy free agency signings, the NFL mixed in the Bounty scandal leaving the Saints organization in a bit of disarray. Do I think this will affect the Saints this year? To a certain extant but I feel they will still be playoff contenders. Even though I agree that the Bounty's put on players was wrong and should be punished, I don't think it makes the Saints a bad or feared franchise. In competition you are always looking for a way to hype your players/teammates up but that can only go so far. What does this do to the NFL? Its adds to the off season drama and based on the punishments this will be the last we hear of any bounty's on players. At least that's what the NFL is hoping for.

In closing, the off season is a great time for teams and fans to forget about last season and get excited about the 2012 season. Based on several of the moves (player acquisitions) that I have seen, I feel as the teams are starting to even out. Rookies are catering their play and skill levels to fit in this ever growing and changing league. In return NFL GM's are looking at these future NFL players style of play closer and can pin point the skill positions they need to improve on from last year. Don't get me wrong, there will still be some weak teams out there in 2012 but for the rest of the league, I don't see a clear cut favorite at this point.

Is it over yet???

Thanks for stopping and checking out my site, while this over drawn lock out continues. I apologize I have left the posting section of this page a bit dormant during the lockout. But honestly as much as I love Football, I was getting sick and tired of the what ifs related to the 2011 NFL season. But it looks like there is light at the end of the tunnel and we could be all receiving some good news by the end of the week.

This news excites and I have been working on some new changes to the site for this season. I'm sure you have seen a few by now and there will be more to come in the next few weeks. I appreciate your support and thanks to everyone that has still be stopping by during the off season/ lock out. So as we prepare for Fantasy Football Pre- Drafts and drafts I wanted to mention to you to stop by www.goaheadscore.com They just released a drafting app for your cell phone and its really awesome. Please make sure you check it out. Its also time to start thinking about the latest version of Madden coming out next month.

Are you ready for some football?

Like myself after enjoying the 2011 NFL Draft for 3 days and getting excitted for the pre-season to begin. Wondering how each team will fair come kick off and looking forward to seeing which teams improved from the draft. Well, not so fast!!! After the lockout was lifted for almost a full week... we're locked out again with no insights as to when it will be lifted and if so.

So what does this mean for the newly drafted rookies? They now jump on to our side as we continue to wait and see when the season will begin. In one of the most important weeks of a young NFL players life, where so many emotions are flowing through their body's in hope of being drafted into the biggest sports franchise ever, The NFL. It has all been shot down.. at least for now. Sure they will still have a team to play for, they will still receive a pay check at some point but at a time when they need to be with their new team and coaching staff, they can't. This is not only a tough time for the fans, current players and newly drafted players as we now again, sit back and wait for the courts to determine when the NFL can get back to business.

I wish there was more to talk about at this time. I'm hoping you enjoyed the 3 days of the Draft and I'm sure your still as frustrated as I am. Frustration, confused, angry and over it

Are all words that come to mind when I think of the current NFL Lockout. While there hasn't been an agreement for the new CBA between the owners and the players union. We are forced to sit here and wait for these two sides to put their guards down, put their pride away for a second and grind this deal out, so we can all get on with it. While we are in the midst of the NCAA Basketball Tournament or with the MLB starting up to take your mind off the NFL, us true NFL fans want nothing more than an agreement to be made. While we are approaching the NFL draft and with the off season work outs now being cancelled, what is it going to take. If you are starting to feel the affects of NFL depression, I have one word for you, "Draftmasters."

With the 2011 NFL season in limbo, a good friend of mine Jim Day at Go Ahead Score has decided to look past the CBA talks and focus on the true reasons why we love the game, The Players. Jim aka Fantasytaz on twitter has started an awesome series of Draftmasters, where 12 contestants/mangers draft 16 players. These are not mock drafts, they are actual drafts that will be played out in real life once the season begins. Now if you haven't played Fantasy Football before then you may be a bit confused, but don't let this scare you away. While everyone is talking about the "what ifs," Jim and the rest of us are all planning for the season and trudging through with it... CBA or not. Now none of this means nothing if the season is cancelled but we all know there is going to be a season.

But what makes it even more interesting and what has got the hook stuck in my mouth is the fact that once you draft your squad you are done. You are not able to adjust your roster or make changes once the draft is completed. It all falls on your draft picks, hence the name "Draftmasters."This does a few things for the fantasy pros such as Jim, they can compare the average draft positions (ADP) as well as to see who can predict the future. Meaning, there are several players being drafted as we speak that may be released, traded or in fact lose their position before opening kick off. So you wondering what it does for you.. well let me answer that for you. If you are a Fantasy player you need to dive into one of these and I guarantee you too will have that hook stuck in your mouth. But the most important part is we're all talking and dealing with NFL players and taking our mind off the CBA BS (pardon my... English).

I am currently in my 4th Draftmaster and as each one is completed, I try to get into another one. As the NFL Lockout looms... we count it down.

"So your saying there's a chance?" Quoted from one of the most classic movies "Dumb and Dumber" which diffidently fits this subject. As we approach the deadline for NFL owners and players to reach a new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) there is a bit of hope it can be figured out by March 4th. I have installed a countdown to the right which shows the time left for an agreement to be reached. I'm sure your like me and green in the face from all the CBA talk. But as of now it's the most important item related to the NFL. It has actually taken some of the lime light away from the Super Bowl Champs, The Green Bay Packers.

I don't wan't to get into the discussion at this time. I'd rather wait until a decision is made and then chime in. Everywhere you turn there is new and different insights. With the new descsion to take both sides in front of a mediator gives us all hope but will this speed up the process? I think not but it will help get the descions made a bit quicker. If there is anything positive to take from the CBA talks, its the fact that the Farve retirement or lack there of talks have not been an issue. But take my word, as soon as the CBA is worked out... Farve talk 2011 begins.

So with all that said, feel free to post your thoughts on the CBA talks. I have also included an area to the right where you can input your email to receive updates as soon as I create a new post. Congratulations to Super Bowl Winner <> The Green Bay Packers

It was a very entertaining game to watch. I was lucky enough to watch the game on a 55" LCD LED Flat Screen.. very nice. The Packers are now one Super Bowl Victory behind the Cowboys and 49ers for the second most titles in history. Steelers are still on top with 6. The countdown for next season begins today!

I will be posting updates monthly and periodically throughout the off season. Swing by when you get tired of the lockout talk. I'll have my 02 cents posted in the next couple of weeks regarding the lock out, but I wont spend much time on it because we all will be bombarded with it every where we turn.

Sunday, February 6th, 2011

6:00 PM (EST) Pittsburgh Steelers VS Green Bay Packers (FOX) Game played at Cowboys Stadium

After 256 regular season games and 10 playoff games were down to the final game of the season. This is the most important game of the season because we get to finally know who is this season's best team in the NFL. Their has been numerous story lines this season from the helmet to helmet hits that resulted in fines, top rated teams finishing with losing records, Michael Vick's resurgence not only as a person but as player and lets not forgot about the potential lockout that has been looming in the back ground since day one. The one that probably stands out the most to you is the lockout, which after Sunday moves into the immediate forefront and will take up most of the off season football talk. But lets not get into that now, lets give that another week or so until we tackle that topic.

This week is a week of celebration. Its a time to reflect what we as football fans have been through in the last 5 1/2 months. You may still be riding high from winning your Fantasy Football League or be down in the dumps due to your favorite NFL teams depressing season. But either way, you've made it this far and why not witness who wins the Super Bowl. The Super Bowl not only resembles who ends up on top but it's a time for friends and families to get together outside of the holidays. This will be a day where some people sit down to enjoy the commercials ($3 million per 30 seconds), some may tune in to just watch the halftime show or if your like me, I've watched 200 plus games already this season.. why not one more? Its also a great time to celebrate food, I mean what else compliments football besides beer? That's right... food, not always the healthiest selections of food are displayed but is anyone really worried about that at this point? Well... probably a lot of you but it's only one day.

So as we whine down on what has to be one of the most unusual season's in NFL history, I recommend you embrace it and enjoy the show. The team that can maintain their focus throughout this week and the extended breaks throughout the game will end up Champions. I don't want to get too much into the preview and what to expect from these two teams because you can find that info anywhere and by the time the ball is kicked off, your ears will be bleeding from being force fed the same information. I will say this, this should be a great hard fought game and as fans that's what we want to see, especially if your favorite has been eliminated. We have enjoyed great games in the past 3 Super Bowls and I think were on track for #4.

In closing I'd like to thank everyone that has followed me this season. We have several new editions in line for next season and give ways for supporters so please stay tuned.
