In today’s fast-paced world, taking time for oneself has become more important than ever before. In everyday life, we are usually confronted with numerous expectations and duties. Be it at work, during university studies or even in upholding relations with friends and family, we are often expected to “perform” in a certain way. In the long term, if one does not find a suitable compensation for these expectations and challenges, having to live up to expectations and demands can lead to severe stress.

Stress as a modern phenomenon

Constant stress over a long period of time can lead up to what is today known as the burnout syndrome, which has become a buzz word in recent years in the western world. Many years ago, only few managers and business people were affected by this syndrome, but as we are now living in a more competitive world, more and more people are at risk of experiencing burnout. We all know that working parents need to manage their time efficiently in order to combine a fulfilling family life with the demands at the workplace. But also singles are increasingly experiencing the negative effects of stress. Since a lot of importance is placed on education, even university or school students nowadays often experience a certain amount of stress.

Wellness centers offer relaxation

This means that it is fundamentally important to plan for enough time to relax and to recharge one’s batteries. One of the best ways to relax is certainly visiting wellness centers and spa baths in Sydney or other Australian cities. If one has the possibility, another good way to relax is taking a few days off from work to go traveling. Visiting other cities or even countries is certainly a great means to escape the routines of everyday life. Furthermore, taking enough time to pursue one’s hobbies is a great way to relax and gain new strength. Whether this means surfing, swimming, taking extended hikes, going to the movies or just spending quality time with good friends is up to personal preferences and the current situation. In any case it is important to be aware of the importance of taking enough time to recharge one’s batteries.

A couple of stories here and there. I will keep reading and rereading them I imagine. These stories and the artwork are so amazing- the voices and perspectives of children are indeed stories the world needs to hear.

You can order a copy from the Bor Orphanage site. While you are there, have a look at all the opportunities to do something positive, or just be inspired. I am!
