Here is the email I sent to everyone at the station:

As you probably know my little brother, Derek Oliverio, died from smoke inhalation in a house fire about 4 months ago. He was the most driven, confident, bull-headed, and hard working person I have ever known. At 24, he single-handedly started Sup Dogs Bar and Grill in Greenville, NC (home of East Carolina University). When he passed away at 27, it was one of the most popular/successful restaurants at the University and in the entire city. In fact, the weeks leading up to his death he was meeting with attorneys, real estate agents, etc. drafting up plans to open up new locations in other cities. It really is unreal what he was able to accomplish in such a short time.

After months of thinking, I have decided to leave the radio business and put all of my energy into our family business with the purpose of carrying on Derek's legacy. My goal is to make Sup Dogs as big as Derek envisioned. This is something that I want to do not only for Derek, but for my family and myself. In two weeks, my wife and I will be moving to Greenville to learn EVERYTHING about the restaurant business with the hopes of expansion in the future. I know this is a personal risk and won't come easy, but I believe with a ton of hard work and support from family and friends, that is something we can accomplish.

Working for WJFK has been a dream job since I started with the Junkies part-time in 1999. I grew up listening to the station and can remember driving slowly by the Fairfax studio hoping to get a glimpse of the DJ's through the square window. Working for such a cool radio station and radio show really has been the highlight of my life. I have loved every single day at WJFK and The Fan.

I just want to say a few words about CK and The Junkies since I have worked with these guys since I was 18. CK's passion for the radio station and CBS Radio as a whole is remarkable and something I have always looked up to. He does the job of 6 people (probably more) and makes it look easy. Our station and company are incredibly LUCKY to have someone so intelligent and devoted. He is also a very good person and has been totally supportive of me personally and professionally.

Eric, Cakes, JP, Jason are like family and have provided me a career which I have loved. I have literally laughed out loud every single day at work since 1999. Not many people can say that. It's the BEST show on the radio- not even close. On a personal level, they have been incredibly kind, generous, and loyal to me over the last 12+ years. I consider them like big brothers. I am very fortunate to have been so close to all four and their amazing families. I will truly miss spending everyday with these guys.

I could go on and on, but I will stop now. Thank you to everyone for your support- I will miss every single one of you. My last day will be February 3.

Twinkies Files for Bankruptcy...

Hostess Brands Inc, a wholesale baker, is again preparing to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection this week, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing people familiar with the matter.

This would be second court restructuring for Ripplewood Holdings-owned Hostess, which filed for bankruptcy almost two years ago and had emerged from it last September.

Irving, Texas-based Hostess has arranged for about $75 million in debtor-in-possession financing to keep it afloat during bankruptcy proceedings, the sources told the paper.

Once in bankruptcy court, the maker of Twinkies and Wonder Bread will try to reduce debt and renegotiate labor contracts, the newspaper said.

The company continues to face a cash crunch despite Ripplewood Holdings investing $40 million, while Monarch Alternative Capital, Silver Point Capital and others loaned the company $20 million late last year, the paper said.

Hostess, which carries over $860 million in debt, declined to comment when contacted by Reuters.

Have you ever heard of Offal?

I had never heard of Offal until Taylor was talking about going to a party with offal during her break. It is basically eating the parts of an animal that typically aren't eaten... brains, marrow, lungs, etc. Taylor said that the pig was displayed with head cut open and the cook brains placed back inside the skull. (If that isn't appetizing, I don't know what is!)

So I did a little reading about offal, and there is a lot of information out there about it. Including pictures.

I thought this was a good web site with a good definition - gotta love the picture on the home page. LOL

Blowfish kinda blows around hour 5...

I didn't for see needing to post anything more about my Blowfish experience, however, about 5 hours after I took it down... I crashed HARD. I still feel okay as far as headache, tummy, etc... except it got to the point where I could not keep my eyes open to save my life. I even wanted to close them when I got up to walk around.

I got a half cup of caffeinated coffee and a little chocolate and it seemed to even it out a bit... but man, there were a rough couple of hours.

To be fair, I should disclose that I did have carbs for breakfast... which probably didn't help the crash. Also, maybe I was too reliant on the Blowfish and should have anticipated that crash... I could have eased myself out of it. I refrained from coffee this morning because I wasn't sure what the effects would be. I didn't want to be too jittery.

I do think that it was great at keeping any head pain at bay... without needing any additional ibuprophen, tylenol, etc. Tummy felt pretty good today too. And if I wanted to use Blowfish on a weekend, I don't think the crash would be as big of an issue. I was really putting it to the test knowing I had to work at my computer all day today.

I am going to lower my rating to 3 out of 5 stars because of the hard crash. But that's not to say I won't try it again in a different scenario to see if it can redeem itself.

What do you think about this? I'm actually having a hard time deciding if it's a good thing or bad. I'm leaning towards it being okay. If you choose to go forward with being one of his one-night-stands, at least you get a prize at the end of the night. I will not choose to be one of those girls... so it's a non-issue for me! :)

In short, I think I would give it a 4 out of 5 stars.

I took the two effervescent tablets with water at 6 am today... after feeling like donkey balls when I woke up. I must say that I did get some pep in my step within a half-hour of taking the meds. I never drink anything carbonated, so that took a little getting used to... but it tasted pretty good. Almost like Sprite/7-Up.

It's 8:48 am right now, and I continue to not feel sleepy or like the aforementioned donkey balls. Head feels good. Everything is going to be okay!

The only gripe I have is that it hasn't taken care of my period cramps (sorry dudes). But it's not fair to judge that, because that isn't its purpose. It would just be a nice, added bonus.

I think I agree with Dr. Wider in that I wouldn't go spending a ton of money buying this stuff. For $1 per pack for the trial, I would say it's certainly worth trying. It helped get my ass to work this morning and here I sit:

I received my "free" trial of Blowfish in the mail today! (it was actually $2 to have the two doses shipped)

I am a wine-drinker. I like to drink wine on work-nights and weekends alike. I tend to drink a bottle of wine on a weeknight... totally not hard to do. :)

So... I am about to put this stuff to the test. As you may have heard through Dr. Wider, she wouldn't spend the money to get it since it's basically just a cocktail of meds you may already take or have around your house. But, for $2, I figured why not!?

Tonight I have sacrificed myself for YOU - by drinking 1.5 bottles of wine... on a work night. (cuz I would have never done that on my own...)

Don't even look at my nasty fingernails with the chipped neon pink polish. I got that from my Secret Santa. And I have a bit of an oral fixation. (oh stop it!)

I will be back tomorrow to let you know how Blowfish works for me. Man, I am crossing my fingers. Got some major work to get done tomorrow.

Apparently, being Kim Kardashian's best friend these day isn't all that great! At least, of course, if you want to end the day with some flour thrown in your face! Kim's best and fellow reality star Jonathan Cheban got a lot more than a New York stroll Saturday. While walking outside a Kris Humphies fan threw a flour bomb in his face.

According to TMZ, Cheban had been received death threats ever since mentioning that he may sue Kris for calling him 'gay' on national television. The fan with the ingredient in his hand seemed to not appreciate it and screamed, "This is for Kris Humphries!" while the powder was in the air.

Kris and Jonathan are clearly not great friends, but what was done to the Spin Crowd star is really uncalled for. The attack coincided with the same weekend that Kris appeared on Good Morning America too. When Kris heard of the incident he reached out to TMZ with a statement. He "would never condone hateful and unacceptable behavior like that to anyone, in any situation."

Patrick discussed an article "21 Stupidest things kids today are actually doing" and I couldn't believe the ridiculousness and danger behind many of these activities. One of them caught my attention because I had never heard of it, nor had it ever been a thought in my brain. It's called "i-dosing"... which is considered a digital drug. Who comes up with this stuff? Technology adds a whole new level to the experimentation that goes on as a teenager - I didn't even have email in high school.

i-Dosing consists of using sounds to alter your mood and senses. It's perfectly legal and can create the feelings that are said to be similar to mushrooms, pot, ecstasy, etc. There is concern that this can be a gateway drug for young people.

While I was searching for more information, I saw everything from videos of kids writhing in pain while i-dosing to websites that use i-dosing to treat ailments such as pain, alcoholism, anxiety, ADD/ADHD, insomnia, depression, etc.

At the same time, there are nay-sayers saying that this is just a way some companies are preying on and marketing to kids to buy their product. There are no brain studies supporting the claim that these sound waves alter your brain in the same way that other drugs do.

Have you done it? What are your thoughts on it? Do you find it dangerous?

So now she is suing him for $100,000... but she signed a consent form leaving the tat to the artists discretion. So there may be nothing she can do.

In an effort to continue to introduce to you more entertainers that you may have never heard of, today I chose to bring a funky street jazz band with a New Orleans style - residing in Wisconsin. I was going through old emails and I came across a Cosmolicious recap from Mother Effer, Tara. For those of you, like us, that have been a Cosmo Radio listener for many years... you may remember the debacle that was Cosmolicious/Diana Falzone. Some of us otherwise referred to it as "Afternoon Headbangers" on Twitter because of the way the show made us want to bang our heads on our desks.

Diana just got back from vacation – she went to Florida and spent time on the beach.

She announced that she gave up lip liner. Whoopie.

Now she’s talking once again about how she doesn’t want a bald guy and she’s telling everyone that they shouldn’t feel bad about their men not having hair anymore because a study shows that men that bald sooner have less of a chance of getting prostate cancer. She seems to be assuming that most other women are as turned off by men that are balding as she is. I disagree.

Woman from North Carolina won 9 million dollars in a lawsuit against her husband’s mistress – the claim was “alienation of affection”. Diana says, what about suing the husband? A caller later confirmed that she IS suing the husband for “breach of contract”.

Diana started talking about common courtesy… then decided to tell everyone how she helped an older woman carry her luggage while she was on vacation. Yay for you, Diana… bringin’ the old convo back to her as usual.

Meghan just said, “I don’t see a law that says ‘Thou Shalt Not be a mistress’….” ß uh Meghan, I think commandments start with “Thou Shalt Not”, not laws. Geesh… this is gonna be a long show….

Tori & Dean… Tori is tired of her husband’s hobby, motorcycle racing because it keeps him away from home a lot. Diana starts to talk about more guys she has dated that have chosen their hobbies over her. Has she dated the world? She then starts talking about how you should ask your man to only spend a certain amount of time on their hobby each day. I think she knows nothing about being in a relationship – your job is not to tell your partner what to do; that’s what you have kids for. I’m starting to see why she’s single.

Caller called in and said she threatened to divorce her husband for all his video game playing. So he stopped and now she says he’s bugging her because he never does his own thing. Gee, mixed messages anyone? I’m starting to feel stupider just by listening to this show for almost an hour…

As with many of the inspirational and interesting people I hear of, I first heard of Bill Clegg on Rosie Radio (SiriusXM Stars). Bill Clegg is a recovering crack addict, author and a literary agent. Though he spoke in-depth with Rosie O'Donnell on her radio show about the book and his past, there was so much more that I learned by reading his captivating book "Portrait of an Addict as a Young Man".

The memoir describes how he lost it all and came back from rock bottom. Over a two-month binge of vodka and crack, he saw his $70,000 bank account, boyfriend and job all disappear. In fact, he nearly lost his life.

"90 Days" is the next book due out by Clegg, which will cover the time he spent getting sober.

I read his book in no time, which is a great feat for me. It holds on to you with a tight grip and will leave you thinking about him, his experience and the book for a long time after having finished the book.
