The Pomeroy House Bill #3636, will assist pensions critically impacted by the 2008 financial crisis, under its Title II-Multi-Employer Plans provisions.

By passing the Employee Free Choice Act, Congress can support workers’ democratic right to bargain for their fair share, raise the wages of working men and women, and pump billions of dollars into the American economy.

Retail Meat/ Grocery labor agreements are set to expire May 1, 2010. The Puget Sound has been selected, via contract expiration date to be the first large bargaining group on the West Coast to establish a retail bargaining pattern in this new economy. February 16th represents the kick-off meeting for  bargaining committees, store coordinators, and/ or picket captains. This meeting will be significant to the presentation of both member  bargaining survey results, updates of bargaining in other U.S. regions and preliminary contract proposals. UFCW Local 81, 21 and Teamsters 38 member partners will be in attendance.  Please contact your Local 81 Union rep to RSVP for this critical event.  Thank you.
