We will be allowing contactless pick ups from our store from Wednesday but please be aware that you cannot enter the store and you cannot just come at anytime. If you would like a store pick up please put in the order comments the day and time you would like to pick up your order. We would prefer the afternoon so we can process as many shipped out orders as possible.

Order must be placed online there is no way for us to accept payment instore

Unfortunately due to the outbreak there is no way for us to judge the beers properly so we will have to delay until we get to level 2. please hold off shipping and bringing in your beers until we can safely take them at level 2. It does you give you more time to add more beers as entry is free so save a couple of you post lockdown beers.

I've moved from bucket kits to small all-grain BIAB - the step up in quality is marked, but so is the step up in effort!

Time to invest in an all-in-one system.

Candidates are:

Brewzilla 3.1.1 35L
Brouland Brew Monk 30L
Grainfather G30 30L

Though cost makes the Brewzilla and Brew Monk favourites at this point!

One thing that is of particular interest is the ability to brew smaller batches - make mistakes, learn, throw away or drink - probably 11L, which would also allow the Brew Store...

Hi - I did my first AG last week in my new BZ35l - the Malt miller Five points best,. The instructions say ferment at 19 for 14 days. I have fermented it at 19 and now after a week the gravity is now steady and down to the FG required , should i leave it another 7 days, or be impatient and rack it now ? I want to do the right thing with my first AG.

Home brew Newbie - My First Setup Recommendations

Hi guys,

I've been researching home brewing for a month now and I feel ready to start considering to buy a setup. I want a lot of planning beforehand as it seems a very complex hobby. I have a few questions so I hope there will be plenty to talk about.

The first question is do I go and start with a EBIAB setup or get 3 vessel system? Seems like both can produce amazing beers but I just don't know where to start. The setup will most likely be in my cellar; it isn't a very clean place but...

Thought i'd bring all my brewdays together in one thread.

Had a day off today and because Foxbats Mainline beer seems to have been the most popular amongst my friends, alongside GH's Paterbeir I thought I would brew it again.

Looking for somewhere between 17-20l for the FV and am still finding my way around my cygnet water boiler so using fag packet maths I used

300og Maris Otter
120g Caramalt
40g Chocolate Wheat
100g Crystal that I found at the bottom of the box and decided to get...

I thought I might as well join the fun and post my own brewday log here in the forum. Today is an experimental bitter with the following recipe. I've never used Northdown before but Fullers use it and I very much enjoy a pint of Pride. I've also never added Chocolate malt to a bitter before but it's there in one of my favourite bitters of late: Darkstar Partridge so I'm putting the two together and doing this today:

85% Pale Malt
10% Munich Malt
3% Crystal 240 EBC
2% Low colour chocolate...

Hop rocket T9 dry hopping to the keg?

I'm looking at removing my T9 dry hopping in muslin bags from the FV stage. I only seem to get decent flavour when I wring the heck out of them. So I have just got an Angel hop rocket.

I intend to add 25g/30l T9's in a muslin bag with rice hulls in the rocket then CO2 purge and with pump (upstream) fill the keg?
Going to try the set up with water first to assess the trub level and flavour.

Just wondered if anyone else dry hops like this when keg filling?

Hi folks,
Continuing the clear out of stuff I don't use I have 4 stainless carbonation caps.

I use the plastic ones all the time, I must have about 20!!

They work for gas and liquid disconnects.

There are two different styles as you'll see from the pics. They seal fine, but the ones without the o-ring really do need some ptfe tape.

Morning guys!

We have a slight blockage problem when we brew, and I wondered if you could suggest some kind of filter to put over the pump hole in the bottom of the brewzilla please?

We think it's the plate chiller that's causing the problem, as we found lots of hop junk in there last brew day, despite using the hop spider (plate chiller completely clogged). So we thought the only way we could keep using the plate chiller is by stopping as many bits getting into it. What does everyone...

I have been carbing my homebrews like this: rack the beer from a PET conical to a Fermenter King Jr at terminal gravity (for saving the yeast), then crash and force carb and finally bottle with a counter pressure filler.

Its a bit of a bug bear of mine that the false bottom of the Brewzilla 35l lifts and bobs around during the boil. This lets alot of hop matter past the false bottom and makes clean up more messy, and lets alot of hop matter through and into the fermenter. Not the end of the world, but I've been looking for a simple and cheap solution for this. I had a bit of a brainwave today and wondered if anyone else has tried this hack? Hi, can anyone offer some advice please?

My boil off volume was higher than expected and left me with 21L rather than the expected 23L of wort. I've fermented the 21L with the SG moving down from 1.048 to give me about 4.8%ABV. I really wanted about 4.3% so should have diluted the wort before fermentation.
Will it ruin the beer if I diluted at this stage before racking? Beer father provides the dilution rate required.

Okay so I've made a Triple 10% New England IPA BIAB as my second brew ever. I know I know I went in at the deep end but go big or go home! I just thought I would keep a record of any change in colour and oxidation on here and if you're interested just follow along.

The picture is an undercarbed (4days 30mins in the freezer test PET bottle) sample of the beer and my god if it stays like this for 2 weeks with a little more carbonation I'm a happy boy!

And first up: full disclaimer; I haven't read it yet. it only arrived in the post today and I've just skimmed through it.

But I see it has a great selection of recipes, which should keep me busy for years to come. But I noticed that the recipes do not suggest a yeast. So looking back to the section on yeast at the front of the book, he more or less seems to say (paraphrasing), dry yeast is a bit rubbish, but S-04 is OK for a beginner, liquid yeasts are better, but have probably been sitting...

I just started my first grow of the plants i purchased from essentially hops. At the start i have to mention that i am really pleased with the grow. The plants arrived wrapped in separate packages surrounded by moss for keeping them moist. The plants were labeled and had a instructions included clearly saying what soil to use and etc.

The rhizomes were planted on the day they arrived...

Since updating to my Brewzilla I no longer need my Peco boiler and mash tun.
Both have been used half a dozen times
The boiler is the more expensive one with the digital control and includes a modified SS false bottom from Geterbrewed. Also comes with a grain bag to suit. The mash tun is a simple conversion of a 28L Thermos cool box with a tap and basic bazooka NO sparge arm. I'm looking for £75. Plus whatever the postage is. Hi folks, I've had a custom BIABasket kit built by BrewBuilder and I'm currently looking into controllers.

I'm going to be running a 3kw ULWD element and was initially going to pickup an Einbrew 1V1P controller. Unfortunately this is a little too expensive at the minute.

I've read of some posters using a Grainfather connect on their custom systems and have also saw that some have used the Inkbird IPB-16S.

I understand that the GFC is only rated for a 2kw element but have seen some posters...

So I've got myself a 10 litre mini keg from Darkfarm. I understand that the 16g co2 cartridge may not be enough to carbonate the whole 10L but can I still achieve force carbonation if I change the cartridge as and when they empty (I assume 2 if 1 is enough for 5l) and then reduce the pressure and pour away?

First time with force carbonation so probably over thinking it.

I plan on buying the soda stream attachment when I buy the second keg in a month or so.

The Ultimate Easy Pesto Recipe

Is it best to use a mortar and pestle when you make pesto? Sure. But busy weeknight cooks don't always have the time or fortitude to massage tender herbs into submission.

This recipe takes only a few minutes to prepare and is easily customizable. Try substituting arugula or watercress for some (or all!) of the parsley or basil. Swap in almonds or walnuts if pine nuts are unavailable or too expensive, or use hard cheeses like Pecorino Romano, aged Manchego or cotija in place of Parmesan.

Time/Servings

Total Time – 8 min.

Serving Size – 1 pint

Ingredients

1 cup olive oil

1 cup parsley leaves

3 garlic cloves

1/3 cup pine nuts

1/2 tablespoon freshly ground black pepper

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan

1/4 cup fresh lemon juice

1 cup basil leaves

Directions

Put everything except basil in blender or food processor and pulse until nuts, garlic and parsley are finely chopped. Add basil and blend until fully incorporated. Serve immediately over pasta, or in spreads, soups or sandwiches.

Alternatively, freeze finished pesto in airtight container for up to two months.

I've recently bought a new mini keg (5L) and it came with an extra long collection line (inside) the Keg. It's enough to loop around the bottom of the keg a few times, instead of just hang from the beer-out post and touch/flush with the bottom.

My question is if I can use the long internal line to regulate pressure instead of the line outside of the keg, between keg and the tap? Is the impact of internal/external lines the same? Or because it's internal, it'll also be pressurized and not...

Like most there were the initial leaky valve issues that I eventuall came up with my own wasy of fixing, only to find out it didn't really work because of blockages and the boring job of completely stripping the valve to properly sanitise. I bottled 4 beers from a keg recently - 3 were delivered locally by hand to mates who all enjoyed the beer.

The 4th one was posted to a forum member who reported it had gone brown and oxidised - the other beer I sent in the same box (different beer, bottled from a bucket) was fine, as have been the many other bottle conditioned beers I've sent previously.

After 2.5 years brewing I've recently moved from bottles to kegs. So what might I have done wrong bottling from the keg this time, and...

For decades my go-to yeasts have been Brewlab slopes - especially their East Midland 1. A true top-cropper and a clean fermenter - it so suited my style of beer.
But, trying to order from their website recently, I just get a blank page. I've e-mailed them, but no response so far.
So, I did a web-crawl, to try to find decent alternatives. The top two I came up with were both White Labs - WLP038 and WLP039. WLP039 especially sounded like it could be what I'm after. But, my usual...

I'm playing with a recipe generator to use up some bits and bobs I have, and one recipe asks for adding some hops @6 mins (another was at 1 min). I've never seen this suggested before (latest i've seen is at 15 mins or at 0 mins). If I went for this, should I let the hops boil for 6 mins then remove, or can they be left after the boil has finished (say 30 mins)? Will leaving them after the boil add flavors not wanted in the beer, or make the flavors stronger then wanted?

Hello all

I'm in the process of fermenting a mango milkshake IPA and am concerned about the amount of trub. I started the brew on Sat 21/Aug

It's a 24l partial mash. The details are as follows:

IPA kit LME1.7kg tin
Grains
2kg Pale Malt
1kg Flaked oats
Mashed @ 67c for 60 mins
750g Lactose (mixed in to wort prior to yeast pitch while aerating)
2 x Packs of CML Haze yeast

I have attached a photo and as you can see the trub is already up to my tap. I'm goin to add mango and dry hop, so trub...

Finalising the recipe for a NEIPA for this weekends brewery. I'm just getting more into water adjustments and so far have been blindly following Brewfather suggested additions against my own water profile. However thought I'd delve a bit deeper in with this beer. It seems fo NEIPA's the water profile should have a Sulphate to Chloride ratio of 1:3 however the Brewfather 'Hoppy NEIPA' target profile results in a 'balanced' Sulphate to Chloride profile. The Tulsa Craft Beer Invitational is a beer festival and Brewing Competition sponsored by High Gravity Fermentations and operated by The Fellowship of Oklahoma Ale Makers (FOAM) designed to promote beer culture in Oklahoma by featuring rare beers from Oklahoma-based breweries and homebrewing clubs.
