However, if the final winner of the tournament has registered for the prize pool 2 (80 €), won the first prize in both the prize and the prize pool 1 pool 2. A player who was registered in the prize pool 3 (160 €) and should win the tournament, would take the first prize of the three prize pools. Basically, players can earn money from their own level of buy-in and those who are below them.

When the final day started, Spindler was holding the biggest stack but quickly lost his position as Negreanu came out swinging and climbed to the top of the board in the first level of play. As play continued for the inaugural APAC title, two other players were sent to the rails immediately after the dinner break. Mikel Habb was the first to go after putting his small stack in the middle of the table with pocket Tens. Yu called with A-T suited and flopped an Ace to win the pot.

The next hand saw Spindler going all-in before the flop with A-T of diamonds and Burns calling with Kd-Js. The odds were certainly in his favor but once a King came on the flop, things weren’t looking so good for Spindler and they didn’t change on the turn or river. His sixth place got him a nice AU$146,205 prize.

Burns wouldn’t hold on to those chips for long and he was next to go to the rails after he lost to Negreanu’s Ace-high on a Ts-8d-3c-6s-Td board.

Yu was certainly having a lucky day as he won seven of his all-in moves and chopped another pot. This made him stay at the table for a pretty long time but his luck eventually ran out. Yu started with a raise from the button and Negreanu called to protect his big blind. After the flop came A-8-2 with three spades, Negreanu checked-called Yu’s all-in and showed a Js-9s for a flush. Yu’s Ad-Kh didn’t leave him many outs and a Ts on the turn sealed the deal and got Negreanu in an even better position going into heads up.

WSOP APAC Main Event Heads Up

Marton’s stack was ten times smaller than Negreanu’s and everyone expected the heads up match to end quickly. However, things didn’t turn out to go that way and Marton managed to double up a few times to give Negreanu a run for his money.

Things started to get very frustrating for the PokerStars pro and he went all-in with pocket deuces. Marton called with As-7s but didn’t catch anything on the board which meant that Negreanu would win the title with the smallest pair in the game.
