Pure Florida has hired Barb Frederick as vice-president of development of Pure Image Productions. Frederick recently relocated to Southwest Florida from Los Angeles, bringing 20 years of video production and talent management expertise to the role. An award-winning video production company based in Naples, Pure Image Productions specializes in films, commercials, water production, corporate events and documentaries. As vice-president of development, Frederick is responsible for business outreach, new project development and sponsor procurement for special projects. In addition, Frederick will coordinate marketing and community relations projects for Pure Florida, a water-based attractions company with locations in Naples and Fort Myers.

A pioneer in the reality television industry, Frederick broke into the entertainment business with her role in the production of the critically acclaimed Discovery series “Eco-Challenge.” She then spent eight seasons working with Mark Burnett Productions on the program, “Survivor,” honing her skills in the field of international television production. Her experience piqued her interest in the talent industry and she soon began working in casting, eventually becoming the casting coordinator and producer for many Emmy-nominated shows that were aired on a wide variety of networks. Frederick began working in the talent management industry in 2006 and, in 2008, was employed as a talent agent for Innovative Artists where she worked closely for more than six years with many of the largest production companies in the world.
Frederick met the Julian family, owners of Pure Florida, while working on the set of Survivor, and was recently recruited to manage new clients and projects for Pure Image Productions.

“Barb brings a wealth of industry experience, knowledge and professional contacts to Pure Image Productions and we are fortunate to have her on board,” said Capt. Lance Julian, founder of Pure Image Productions.

In addition to Frederick, the Pure Image Productions team includes Director and Cinematographer John Scoular, Producer Madeline Scoular and Captains Lance and Harry Julian.
Currently, the Pure Image Productions team is shooting the documentary film “Artificial Reef” documenting the creation of one of the largest, master-planned artificial reef systems in the Western Hemisphere in the Gulf waters of Collier County. The project is expected to generate an estimated $30 million in economic impact in Collier County and will create vital marine life habitats off of the coast of Collier County.

The Paradise Coast of Florida is one of the ‘go to’ places for Snowbirds and international travelers alike. In planning your vacation, you’ll undoubtedly have many questions about things to do in Naples FL and where to go. You might try the Internet, visit some of the numerous travel shops or rely on word of mouth experiences. These many options can lead to frustrations – and perhaps family debates- over choices and what the best means of contact and reference would be. Often it is decided on “Let’s go and just take a look.”

Pure Florida relieved us of all of these concerns

The option to just ‘go and check it out’ was the most popular choice for us. We had a car and knew that we would want lunch while we were out, so we headed down to Tin City and Pure Florida to see what they had to offer. We did not need to go any further because they had everything!!

We discovered by just going to their quaint sales office at the front of Tin City that they cater for a wide variety of desired activities. We were just in time for the 10:00 Sightseeing Cruise on the Double Sunshine. We decided that this would give us a great overview of the city, its history and its unique system of waterways and the nature that abounds there. We returned to the dock at 11:30 and found that we had time to do a Jet Boat Ride on the ODIN prior to lunch. We went to places that the Double Sunshine did not take us and experienced the exhilarating 360 turns that this boat can do. What a ride!! We were in the back bays of Naples Bay, and our captain stopped and pointed out a Bald Eagle perched in a tree while a group of Cormorants filled another tree nearby. He stopped the engines for a few minutes, and we saw some dolphin playing over by the shoreline.

After that one-hour ride, we were ready for some lunch! We took advantage of this time to plan the rest of our day. Pure Florida gave us a choice of a three-hour eco tour that stops at Keewaydin Island, or the same amount of time on a guided jet ski tour. Being the proverbial shell seeker, I said that I would do the Eco Cruise while the boys did the Jet Skis.

What a day! We had a blast. Pure Florida gave us the answer to our frustrated efforts in the morning while deciding on things to do in Naples FL. Now about tomorrow…fishing perhaps?

Thanks Pure Florida for an AWESOME day!

The wildlife in the Caloosahatchee River is rather extraordinary! Some of the most exciting animals to see in Fort Myers are Manatees. These creatures, also known as the “Sea Cow” or “Sea Elephant” are not indigenous to these waters however. Like their human counterparts, they came, liked what they saw, and stayed. They can weigh up to 1,200 pounds and are around 10 feet long on average. They eat vegetation and as mammals must surface often for air. Preferring warmer water, they will migrate up to an area called Manatee Park by the Fort Myers Power Plant in the winter months.

Our other friends in the river are Atlantic Bluenose Dolphins. They often can be seen in their pods with a baby as the center of attention. We usually see them fishing but they always seem to put on a show for us by jumping waves and playing in the wash of the boat. No matter how many times we see dolphins, we never tire of these aquatic friends of ours.

The land based wildlife that you may encounter include:

Opossums

Raccoons

Gopher tortoises

Eastern indigo snakes

Blacksnakes

Bobcats

Fox squirrels

In the mangroves that line the river rabbits, raccoons and bobcats are often found.

Fish in the area are the tarpon, snook, snapper, killifish, mullet and crustaceans such as crab, oysters, shrimp and snails. The variety of bird life is exciting and as you pass the Rookery Islands it is a wondrous sight to see the numbers of different birds resting there. You will find a variety of herons, brown pelican white ibis, egret roseate spoonbill, great white heron, frigate birds, anhinga the cormorant to name a few.

It is always a dramatic sight to watch a comorat from way up in the sky dive straight into the water to catch a meal. The Woodstork is also one to look out for. An endangered species, it is beginning to make a comeback to the area. Keep a good eye out for the Bald Eagle too. They like to roost in the tops of the Australian Pines. The Tidal flats will have such birds as sandpipers, gulls, terns, skimmers and the American Oyster catcher and falcons.

Pure Fort Myers offers you this exciting experience to observe and to be right within what is truly raw nature at its best.
