Two posts in one day. I'm butter, baby. This is the Thought Police. They are the steam-powered, physical manifestation of our desire to have proper and pure thoughts. They appear to enforce our laws of righteousness. Beware, if your thoughts are not correct, the Thought Police may come for you. What do they do to offenders? You would be surprised.

Black Steel 2

Continuing with the evolution of a character. Here we are again with my main man Bull. His appearance has gone from rocky to black steel and I wanted him adorned with etched tattoos. Notice, the hair is now black and I like that better. His appearance has two more states and I'll be getting around to that before long.

I usually put up finished work. This time I'm putting up a sketch. I've been making an effort to get back to sketching. It's vital to keep your flow. This is a drawing of a character who is not in the Wyldcardz story, but will have his own, some day. I plan on finishing this piece. As I go along I'll post up the steps. I've always found that interesting looking at other artists' processes.

The Beatiful Ones

There are other characters in the Wyldcardz universe. This is Beautiful Sphinx. She's an information specialist. She broadcasts a pirate webcast straight to your frontal lobe so "those who want to kill imagination" can't censor them. Only the Thought Police can hi-jack the signal. Beautiful Sphinx is about truth, beauty and lifting the human consciousness from the fog that imprisons it.

Zuda Comics

I'm sure everyone is familiar with Zuda Comics. It's DC Comics first foray into web comics. I've been following it and they have some good stuff going on. As part of promoting the site they provided postcards for creators to send in. Below are the postcards I sent in. Only one got posted to the site, but, whatever. The fact I made the effort is the victory.

Okay, I know it's been over a month since I posted to my blog. One day my full time job will be working on my comic books. Until then, I leave you with another character drawing: TRUMP. He's been with me the longest, going thru various changes as my influences have changed. Maybe one day you'll get to see the evolution.

This guy is called Blaque. He is becoming a favorite to draw, too. It's obvious that I like a lot of black in my artwork and this guy will spend a lot of time in the shadows. I like color, but I already don't have enough time to do black and white work. Coloring would just make it take even longer to finish a piece. I already know how to color with photoshop and eventually I'll start working it in.

Currently, this is my favorite character I like to work on. Curious. Her appearance has been turning out better than what I see in my head. Fellow artist, you know what's up. You see something in your head and you try to put it down on paper and it doesn't quite work out.

A Matter of Energy

I know it's been a while since I posted to my blog, but life gets in the way sometimes, and in big and spectactular ways. I finally got back to the drawing board. I like to experiment with different brushes and techniques in photoshop, so I decided to work on one of my characters from Wyldcardz. This is Rainn and she has energy based powers. I really like special effects and I think this one turned out pretty decent.

Continuing with simple sketches from my upcoming comicbook "Wyldcardz", here is a quicky of the voodoo wild child with the sentient tattoo: Rumble. He has on his body, a tattoo that never looks the same and can become pretty much what he wants it to. Rumble is a little limited with his imagination, since he only seems to use the tattoo as a weapon.

Big Bull

Here is a sketch of one of my characters from my upcoming Wyldcardz comic book. His name is Bull. He's an interesting character. He's more than the muscle of the team, he's a capitalist. He's a cross between Donald Trump and Hulk Hogan. Bull believes he is a member of the homo habilis species (believed extinct) that has evolved and survived secretly among homo sapiens. Over the millennia they've developed an incredibly strong exoskeleton. This hasn't been confirmed yet. He may just be delusional.

Okay. I've found a purpose for this blog. It will be a "sketch blog". One of the exercises I plan to do are some quick drawings each morning (or as often as life will allow). I'll post them here. The drawings will be of my characters, and also, well known characters. I decided to start with an old favorite of mine: Batman.
