The Line | Emma

This is a personal session I have been working on, I have been waiting for the leaves to turn their beautiful colors of autumn.  Well, this weekend was it. With wind up to 40 miles an hour, needless to say it added a little difficulty my plans.  With no choice but to shoot since I had no more available weekends and already had a handful of people involved to help.

So on with the story.  My daughter was asking her great Grandmother who is 96  yrs old and (sharp as a tack) about her mother and her mother’s mother.  I have always been interested in genealogy, I guess the apple did not fall far from the tree.   Emma was fascinated to find out her bloodline includes American Indian.  So Grandma told her all she knew.

Thus started our adventure with my visual interpretation.

Thanks to my Mother-in-law Bonnie for loaning her Paint horse (Cookie).  I also am grateful to all of those that helped with this session including my husband who has grown up with horses and is quite the show stopping rider.  So it was not a problem for him to be on horse duty.  He also made the teepee.
My daughter Emma who complained the entire time that is was cold and windy, but never-the-less.. she came through.
My helpers Colleen (my oldest daughter). We have worked so long together,  we barely have to speak.

Dina who has been the newest helper, she is eager to learn and is coming along nicely.  She also managed to have her son  make the stick bow.

My friend Ginger who encouraged me to do this when I shared Emma’s interest in her lineage.

I made the head-piece and I have had the moccasins and boots for years.

The dress is from a costume store and leather hair braids from my MIL.

Ryan 2012

It is the senior season and I am not sure why but I get about 10 girls to 1 guy, so I really do enjoy it when we get one.  And what an awesome guy he is.  Multi talented in sports and music, to top it off he has personality plus!  The kind of son you would be very proud of.  I hope I did not embarrass him too much for all the praise in this post, but to meet such an all around nice guy that seems to have a  heart for others is not as common as it should be.

Short and sweet on this post.  I was going through some files of photos and I came across some interesting photos.. I wondered why I had not posted this before now.   Hum.  I guess revisiting and looking at things under a new light can change our perspective.  As I was looking through these archived photos I was pleasantly surprised that I love my work that I must not have loved before.  Hum, I wonder why?   Maybe as an artist (we) I  am much harder on my self than I am on others.

Maybe when you are in the mist of something it’s hard to see the beauty within.   Yet if you step away,  come back later to have a peek  … you may discover something lovely and new.

Thinking about the little girl who leaves her doll house dreams and moves on to the next stage of this lovely thing called life.

Interested in newborn and babies, children , or Maternity

Children are the most amazing little creatures aren’t they?    This is one reason why I love being a child photographer, capturing their little personality (s)  through the lens.

Is she cute or what?
I will let you in on a secret, I was totally wore out by the end of this session, she had way more energy than me.  But the exhaustion was worth it in my book.  What ever it takes to get the shot right?

This quote kept me coming back to read it  like a moth to the flame.

Then it hit me that I am a Wordless Writer.   I have so many posts in my head, but fear the fear of using words keeps me from posting them.  You know, the grammar, spelling and run~on sentence mistakes.   Writing with words is not my strong subject, but capturing the story with my vision and my camera is.

How about you?  What do you write with?  is it painting, sewing, crafting ect.. ????? I would love to hear (see) your wordless story.

I was inspired to style this session after a  nest of sparrows hatched at my front door in the spring time. Do you love watching little birds in the spring time?  I know I do.   There is something so miraculous the way the mother bird creates and takes care of  her little ones.   I found that the mother bird will often nudge a fearful bird out of the nest to force them to fly.

The sparrow is mentioned several times in the bible, and is one of the most beloved song birds of all time. The sparrow sings songs only heaven could have written.

As I edited this session I continued to think about some of the words from this old famous hymn:

I sing because I’m happy, I sing because I’m, free,   For His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
