On August 4th 2011 Australian company Lynas Corporation officially opened its Mt Weld rare earth mine in Western Australia. Lynas wants to export 33,000 tonnes per annum of rare earth concentrates through the port of Fremantle in Western Australia to the port of Kuantan in Malaysia to their polluting, energy intensive an highly controversial processing plant, the Lynas Advanced Materials Plant (LAMP). The LAMP is scheduled to start operations by the end of 2011 but it is being vehemently opposed by thousands of people in Malaysia.

In light of a New York Times article Kuantan residents were awakened to the fact that their government had given the green-light to a project against their consent. Kuantan residents and supporters – ordinary citizens from diverse professions, race and religious backgrounds – started a movement to protest both the Malaysian government and Lynas Corporation. In spite of the risks and massive opposition, the Malaysian government had agreed to host the plant offering Lynas a speedy process and a 12-year tax holiday.

The Save Malaysia! Stop Lynas! movement have taken this protest across Malaysia and to Australia. They have been outraged by the lack of information and the hasty and inadequate approval process by the Malaysian Government and the arrogance of Lynas to dump huge amounts of toxic and radioactive waste on their lives and livelihoods.

Touted as the largest rare earth refinery, the LAMP will use 720 tons of concentrated Hydrochloride Acid (sulphuric acid) per day and leave behind 28,000 tonnes of solid waste per year, enough to fill 126 olympic size swimming pools. A by-product of this waste is radioactive Thorium (Th) which is dangerous to human health.

There are approximately 700,000 people living within 30 km from the LAMP and it is located near coastal tourist resorts and an environmentally sensitive fishery area. Construction of the plant has begun in secrecy and ahead of proper environmental and waste management plan.

Community in Malaysia are calling for Australian citizens, environmentalists, unionists, health professionals, business people and politicians to get behind the Stop Lynas! Campaign and stop Lynas Corporation from proceeding with their rare earth plant (Lynas Advanced Materials Plant-LAMP) in Gebeng, Kuantan.

The Taib Timber Mafia

The authors of this report put the illicit assets of Taib Mahmud, the long-term Chief Minister of the Malaysian state of Sarawak, at over 20 billion US dollars. Taib Mahmud himself, the "godfather" of the Taib family business empire, has been rated at USD 15 billion, making him Malaysia’s richest man. The report was released in Brussels on the occasion of a visit of the Malaysian Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities, Bernard Dompok, to the European Commission.

The Bruno Manser Fund’s report describes in detail the business activities and personal wealth of twenty members of the Taib family, described as one of South East Asia’s most notorious kleptocratic clans with business interests in Malaysia, Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, the United States and other countries.

The Bruno Manser Fund estimates the combined net worth of twenty Taib family members to be close to USD 21 billion, which has been acquired through the almost complete political and economic control of Sarawak, a state the size of England, over a period of three decades. In particular, the Taibs have established monopolies on the granting of timber and plantation concessions, the export of timber to third countries, the maintenance of public roads and also on the production and sale of cement and a number of other construction materials.

The Bruno Manser Fund is asking governments and banks around the globe to freeze Taib family assets. The Taibs are being compared to the Suharto and Marcos clans who have also stolen billions from their countries. According to Transparency International, former Indonesian President Suharto embezzled USD 15 to 35 billion, while former Philippines President Ferdinand Marcos is thought to have stolen between USD 20 and USD 900 billion.

This a letter written by a Malaysian to PM Najib and cabinet.

Dear Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and members of the cabinet,

I, as a citizen of Malaysia would like to call upon the government to stop embarrassing our beloved country and we fellow Malaysians.

Dr Pornthip Rojanasunand, renowned Thai pathologist, has declined to perform a second autopsy on C Sugumar stating that the Malaysian government was not happy with her previous work. Her declination is totally understandable.

Dr Pornthip who was hired by the Selangor government in seeking justice for the late Teoh Beng Hock was called a liar by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Mohd Nazri Abdul Aziz and her qualification was being doubted by Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) prosecution's head Abdul Razak Musa despite having graduated from one of the top five universities in Asia and being the director of Thailand's Central Institute of Forensic Science.

And now, Australian senator Nick Xenophon was detained and deported under Section 8(3) of the Immigration Act as a "prohibited immigrant" as he has "tarnished the image of the country".

The decision to detain and deport him is ridiculous, disrespectful and absurd. How can we simply detain and deport a person just like that without any valid reason, not to say a senator from a country which Malaysia has strong diplomatic relations with?

All of you should understand that whatever decisions or actions that was made or taken by the government are made representing Malaysia.

Therefore all decisions and actions must be made in the interest of the country.

If anyone of you is not capable of putting the interest of the country before self-interest or interest of your party, then I urge for your immediate resignation albeit the general election is near.

Xenophon was said to have tarnished the image of the country but how about his detention and deportation?

Doesn't that creates more damage to the image of our country? The detention and deportation of Xenophon would now surely receive international criticism.

Maybe Xenophon is right in saying that the Malaysian government is being authoritarian as this has again proves that the government is not able to accept criticism.

The deportation of Xenophon also casts doubt as to what the government is trying to hide as the government need not be afraid if everything is transparent.

If the government is sincere and committed to transform the country and to get back the confidence of the people, the government should formally invite Dr Pornthip to perform the second autopsy for the late Sugumar.

If the government is sincere and committed to provide for a clean, free and fair election, then the government should invite foreign observers including Xenophon without fear.

I beg the government to stop tarnishing our country's image. And I really hope that none of our ministers are suffering from xenophobia.

Kuala Lumpur (Sept 12, 2012): A Malaysian middleman who secured the contract for the printing of polymer notes for Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) received payments of more than A$1.35 million (about RM4.36 million) in two tranches in a single day.

These were part of the more than A$3 million (RM9.68 million) paid over four years by two companies owned by the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) that had supplied the notes.

As the committal hearing of eight former employees of RBA-related companies progressed in a Melbourne court on charges of bribery and corruption, more startling revelations emerged on the secret deals made between them and Malaysian middlemen and agents. (RBA owns both Note Printing Australia Ltd (NPA), which specialises in printing polymer bank notes, and Securency International Pty Ltd, a specialist in supplying substrates for the printing process.)

In a deposition, the former financial controller of NPA, Raimond Kukk, noted that there was even a suggestion of depositing money into the account of a child of the middleman, Abdul Kayoum Syed Ahmad, a director of Aksavest Sdn Bhd which acted as a conduit between RBA and BNM.

The deposition also says:
The quotation to BNM for the cost of printing the RM5 notes was revised upwards to include Abdul Kayoum's commission. The cost of the finished notes varied in the quotations between A$77.49 (RM249.98) and A$80.55 (RM259.86) per thousand banknotes in the initial stages but was increased to between A$102.25 (RM329.86) and A$109.95 (RM354.70) to incorporate the commissions payable to Abdul Kayoum. However, the contract was sealed as A$95 (RM306.47) per thousand notes.

Abdul Kayoum had requested that part of the money be deposited in his child's account in Queensland but was refused by NPA.

Abdul Kayoum was "sacked" as an agent after allegations of corrupt deals emerged in the media in 2007 but continued to receive payments for his services.

Kayoum's commission for getting the BNM contract doubled from 10% (of the contract) in 1999 to 20% in 2003.

Kukk, who worked in NPA from 1969 until retirement in 2007, said that in late 2003 or early 2004, he was approached to have a partial payment of the commission made to Kayoum via an account in Queensland.

"A colleague told me Kayoum's child was undertaking university studies in Queensland and the payment would go towards off-setting some of the expenses," he said.

"He explained to me this would assist Kayoum and his family and keep things simpler in terms of exchange rate movements. I advised that NPA should continue to only make payments into the Aksavest account that NPA was using."

Last July, Abdul Kayoum was charged with two counts with giving bribes amounting to RM100,000 to former BNM assistant governor Datuk Mohamad Daud Dol Moin. He claimed trial.

Mohamad Daud was also charged with two counts of corruptly receiving bribes totaling RM100,000 from Abdul Kayoum as an inducement to procure for Securency, a contract from BNM, for the printing and supply of RM5 polymer banknotes.

In providing details of payments made to the Malaysian, Kukk provided amounts and dates of money transfers from bank accounts in Australia to accounts in Malaysia and Singapore.

"NPA got its first contract from BNM in late December 2003 to print 160 million RM5 notes, Abdul Kayoum received a commission of 17% for this contract."

"The contract was worth approximately A$15 million (RM48.39 million) to NPA and Abdul Kayoum received a total commissions in excess of A$2 million (RM6.45 million) for 'services rendered'," Kukk said.

His deposition also contains his fears of having to pay Abdul Kayoum through a Singapore bank account, as previously all monies were remitted to Malaysia.

"On June 2, 2005, I facilitated a payment of A$350,755 (RM1.13 million) into Abdul Kayoum's bank account in Malaysia and second payment on the same day totalling A$1 million (RM3.23 million) into an account in the name of 'Abdul Kayoum Syed Ahmad' in a HSBC account in Singapore."

"I recall I made enquiries by phone and fax with HSBC to ensure the validity of the account and that the beneficiary was Abdul Kayoum."

"Prior to making the payment, I had discussions with a colleague as we thought the request regarding payment into Singapore was unusual. However upon establishing the validity of the account, two senior officers authorised the payments to proceed."

Securency chief executive Myles Curtis, former Securency company secretary Mitchell Anderson, NPA chief financial officer Peter Hutchinson, NPA chief executive John Leckenby, NPA sales executive Barry Brady, Securency sales boss Clifford Gerathy and Securency sales executive Ron Marchant are also charged with conspiring to bribe foreign officials. The hearings are on-going.

Malaysia Successful Businessman - Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Al Bukhari

They should be after the big fish, why us and cause all the traffic chaos?

To all those CDs lover please beware!

Please do not keep any pirated or burned CDs, DVDs or VCDs in your car.

Police and Domestic Trade & Consumer Affairs Ministry's enforcement division in Malaysia have started the operation to search and fine anyone who keep pirated disc inside their car especially through road block at all main road and expressways.

If any pirated or burned disc found inside your car will be charged RM400 per disc. Example 30 discs found means the fine will be RM12,000.

This is real. Another friend of mine from Seagate, today during lunch time, 5 CD x RM400 = RM2,000

One of the Plexus colleague brother-in-law caught by police due to pirated CD in the car on the way to town for lunch with his friend in the afternoon. One CD fined RM400.

Please disseminate this to all your friends who are driving in Malaysia .

Pos Malaysia Call

They claimed there is an unclaimed letter from IPK Kuala Lumpur (surat saman / summon letter) and wish to send to my house again, and wanted to confirm my address.

I was sceptical and did not revealed my address. I then called Pos Malaysia to confirm. They revealed that a few people have been "conned" into giving out their home addresses and other details.

Pos Malaysia said they will never call customers if there is an unclaimed letter or package.

Please do not reveal anything to people even if you get a call from self-claim police sargeant.

Somehow they managed to hack into using Pos Malaysia & IPK Kuala Lumpur actual phone lines. Be careful.

Their job is to inspect all hawkers, their cooked food, their store hygiene and etc. They found sugar cane juice has the highest content of bacteria among all food. In fact, it has exceeded the set limit.

Hence, these guys had to find out why. They went round all sugar cane stores and watched the way the hawkers handled their sugar cane, wash their glasses and their entire procedure. But they couldn't find the problem.

One day, they stayed till closing time and discovered some shocking facts!

Whenever, the hawkers closed their stores, they would wash the floor with detergent. As we know, the remaining sugar canes will be placed at the back of the store vertically standing. As sugar canes are very porous, they tend to absorb whatever liquid around them. Besides the soapy water, the dirt on hawkers' boots and cats' urine will be absorbed.

Now, whenever I eat at a hawker centre, I would warn all my friends about this and of course I stopped drinking my favorite sugar cane juice.

A friend, who loved sugar cane juice, was pregnant. She always drinking sugar cane juice. Anyway, one day she miscarried and the fetus was already like 6 or 7 months old. When the doctors did an autopsy to find out why all of a sudden the fetus had died inside her. They found traces of some chemical substance, which was found in cat urine. Large traces of it.

While it would not be able to harm adults, it was extremely toxic to babies, what more a fetus?

So they tried to determine how this cat urine thing could have ended up in the fetus.
This meant that it had to be digested by the mother, right? The only logical conclusion they could come up with was that since these sugar cane juice stall holders just leave the canes lying around on the wet and dirty floor. It would not be impossible to think that stray cats could have peed on those sugar canes or near those sugar canes.

So think carefully the next time you order that favorite sugar cane juice!

Robbing New Tactic

New tactic to rob you. Robber will spray some liquid on your tyre which leads to smoke outburst. Happened at Taman Tun Dr Ismail section 17 junction!

Just received this from a local police force in Bangsar. There is a new tactic used by the thieves and robbers. It is spreading into PJ and other KL areas. Be careful when there is a motorist approaching while you are driving alone in a car. These days, the thieves will spray some liquid on your tyre which leads to smoke outburst.

When you encounter such a situation, don’t panic. Stay calm and don’t ever try to park your car to check what is going on. This is the intention purposely created by these thieves to get your attention. Once you get out from your car, they will snatch your belongings or may even harm you.

So, if you ever encounter such an incident, drive to a safe place where crowded people are or to a petrol or police station. As for the stain, use water to clean it up. That’s all. Look after your own safety, especially to those ladies out there. What ever happens, don’t simply walk out from your car! This is a true case that has occurred before.

Liquid is probably kerosene. When the tyre gets hot, the kerosene evaporates and seems a smoke outburst. Nothing to worry and don’t have to stop to check. If you did not release your handbrake to drive, you get smoky outburst too and burnt tyre smell.

Shopping Cartoon

Dear PM Najib,

If you want to win big in this coming 13th General Election, all you have to do is give assurance to the Rakyat (people) that you will "gempar" them by taking on the following essentials:

1. Issue a warrant of arrest to your good friend Abdul Razak Baginda. Charge him in court for abetting in the murder of Altantuya Shaariibuu – yes again. The rakyat really suspect he is guilty of abetting the murder as he was the main player and benefited the most in the Scorpene acquisition. Actually, some of the rakyat even suspect you and your wife, Rosmah Mansor, but one step at a time. Whatever it is, this action against Baginda might clear a little of the scandal off you, and decrease the negativity from your credibility in the murder.

2. Arrest Samy Vellu immediately for the MAIKA, MIED and Telekom share scandal and charge him in court. The Indians will come back in droves to support you, regardless of Hindraf. You will gain the confidence of the Indians voters when you march into GE-13.

3. Fast forward the PKFZ scandal in courts to find Ling Leong Sik guilty and send him to jail immediately. This will make the Chinese sit up and watch while the Malays will be really proud of you and reward you when they vote.

4. Send Khir Toyo to jail for corruption and sack him from UMNO. He was appointed by Mahathir Mohamad as the Menteri Besar and this doesn't augur well for the ex-PM's credibility. By taking this action you might even win Selangor without working too hard, as you have claimed to be on the 'verge' of doing so. A win will tremendously boost your image because you are the Barisan Nasional Leader for Selangor.

5. Sack Shahrizat Jalil immediately from all posts in UMNO and freeze all assets of the NFC as well as the privately-owned firms of her family that are connected to NFC until every cent is accounted for. This might vindicate you from the Kazakhstan condo scandal that is brewing and about to erupt. It will also sky-rocket your ratings within UMNO and with the rakyat and give the Opposition a heart attack!

6. Come clean on your wife's spending as well as show evidence of the return of the US$24 million diamond ring back to New York. Also, you must be brave and make it a point to put your wife on a leash always. If need be, you must not be scared to put a muzzle on her mouth area.

You have to show the rakyat that you are above her in all matters concerning your office as well as declare to the rakyat that the First Lady of Malaysia is actually the Seri Paduka Baginda Raja Permaisuri Agong, the King's wife. Your wife is just the Prime Minister's wife.

You know something Mr Prime Minister. If you actually do this, the women's vote will all be yours. This will help you tremendously to win with the two-thirds majority that we know you and Umno have given up on. Why? Sorry to say this but your wife is the most hated person after Mahathir in Malaysia.

7. Apologize publicly for the Perak coup de et-ad and admit it was a grave mistake. This will help to you to retain Perak again. Also, while you are at it, give a tight slap on the face to Hee Yit Foong which will please all the Chinese in Perak. They may vote for you after that.

8. Fulfill all of BERSIH 2.0's 8 electoral reforms without prejudice. Show the people you are sincere in electoral reform and you do not need to cheat to win.

9. This is a real challenge. Arrest Mahathir Mohamed for all the corruption he was involved in his 22 years of rule. The power is now in your hands. Can you do it? If yes, then you win hands down, regardless Pakatan Rakyat and their hugely talented team. You will get the entire backing of the rakyat and a mandate that will be hard to beat by any other UMNO chief for decades to come.

10. And finally, get rid of PERKASA. Stay clear away from Hassan Ali and JATI. And most of all, declare you are 'Malaysian First and Malay Second' - not like that Muhyiddin Yassin who tried to be 'funny' and bully the non-Malays but look where he is now. So, uphold a fair 1 MALAYSIA for all races in Malaysia.

The People's Champion

If you can really implement all these suggestions you will be "The People's Champion". And you can ride on for another TWO terms on this euphoria alone. But the chances are, you will not be able fulfill ANY of these suggestions. So you will have to resign yourself to the idea that you will lose control of both UMNO and Barisan Nasional.

RON95 Cost More Than RON97 Without Subsidy

Very true. Didn't think about this!

If RON97 is the better fuel and at RM2.90 without subsidy while RON95 is the cheaper fuel with subsidy at RM1.90, the subsidy by Gomen bin Penipu should be less than RM1.00.

But what the hell when it's stated that this Gomen bin Penipu subsidized RM1.45 for RON95?

Therefore the cheaper RON95 fuel = RM1.90 + RM1.45 subsidy = RM3.35?

Is the Gomen forcing rakyat to use cheaper fuel so that our cars need more maintenance?

If RON97 (RM2.90) is cheaper than RON95 (RM3.35) then why not subsidize RON97 so that rakyat use better fuel and cheaper too (RM2.90 - RM1.45 = RM1.45 per litre?)

See who is cheating who.

I was chatting with my friends when one of them asked if we know how much is the subsidy for RON95.

This prompted me to find out and below is what I discovered.

The frustration – there isn't a moment the Gomen is not lying to the rakyat.

As I was rushing for a meeting, I did not question and shutdown my cell phone.

After 45 minutes I felt very suspicious since the caller did not even introduce his name. I quickly turned on my cell phone and I received several calls from my family members and the others were from the number that had called me earlier - 3954380.

I called my parents and I was shocked that they sounded very worried asking me whether I am safe.

My parents told me that they had received a call from someone claiming that they had me with them and asking for money to let me free. The call was so real and my parents even heard my voice crying out loud asking for help.

My parent was at the bank waiting for next call to proceed for money transfer. I told my parents that I am safe and asked them to lodge a police report.

Right after that I received another call from the guy asking me to shutdown my cell phone for another 1 hour which I refused to do and hung up. They keep calling my cell phone until the battery had run down.

I myself lodged a police report and I was informed by the officer that there were many such scams reported.

Most of the cases reported that the victim had already transferred the money! And it is impossible to get back the money.

Be careful as this kind of scam might happen to any one of us! Those guys are so professional and very convincing during calls.

If you are asked to shut down your cell phone for updates by the service provider, ask around!

Your family or friends might receive the same call.

"It is not transformation. It is retrogression, back to the Age of Ignorance and barbarism", he says.

Never in the history of any country has a government been as hypocritical, deceptive, dishonest and destructive as this government in question.

Which country has had only one political party in government for more than half a century?

Which country allows the government to use public funds for political purposes?

Which country uses the Police to beat up peaceful protestors and corner them when they have already dispersed?

Which country has a Prime Minister linked to murder?

Which country has a Prime Minister linked to corruption and his colleagues don't bother?

Which country uses Islam as a political tool to destroy other Muslims?

Which country practices racial discrimination in its policies like South Africa ?

Specially for the ladies! Attempt kidnap at The Curve on May 27, 2012. Read and take note. Be alert. Better be careful next time at The Curve.

30 hours ago, I escaped from being kidnapped by Chin Xin-Ci on Tuesday, 29 May 2012 at 00:39. As I sit here writing this, I am just so grateful to be alive.

To think that 30 hours ago I had a knife to my throat, face to face with the threat of being kidnapped and raped.

It was a Sunday, at 5.22PM. I was alone, walking towards my boyfriend's car in level B2 of The Curve, Mutiara Damansara. He was not in town, and I was running errands with his car. Just as I was putting my shopping bags in the rear seat, the rear car door was slammed against my back, and a meat cleaver was pressed against my throat.

A man covered my mouth with his hand, and whispered not to scream. He then shoved me onto the floor of the backseat of the car and waved the cleaver at me, reminding me not to scream. He was skinny, wearing a baggy turqoise blue t-shirt, had a thick moustache and short curly hair, approx 5'8", mid-30s, and of Indian descent.

At this moment, second man appeared. He was also in his mid-30s. He was wearing a red t-shirt, had a crew cut, and was of Malay descent. He grabbed my car keys and demanded for my parking ticket. I couldn't remember where it was. They shoved me deeper into the car, and the Indian man got into the back seat with me, while the Malay man got into the driver's seat, driving us out of the car park.

I told them they could take everything, just let me go. But at that point they didn't even ask for money. Instead, the Indian man started to make sexual advances. Then it hit me. "Oh my God. Oh my God. This is really happening. I'm being kidnapped and I think I know what they want."

From this moment on, there were a few crucial things that happened that I think is the reason I'm alive today.

1. I managed to get into a position to escape.

When they got into the car, the Indian man had tried to force my body down onto the floor. I knew that the moment I'm on the floor, there would be no chance of escape. So I begged him to let me sit up. I promised him I wouldn't scream or alert anyone's attention. Thankfully, he trusted me, and let me sit up, gripping my arm tightly. Then I told him my arm really hurt and to please not grip it so hard. He loosened his grip.

2. I did not fight for the sake of fighting.

I was in an enclosed space, with no clear escape route. I would never win in a fight with these 2 guys, especially when they have sharp weapons. Had I fought from the get go, I may not have been in a position to escape. I might've even been knocked out cold, and God only knows where I would be right now.

3. I was lucky and sneaky.

I knew that the only way to escape, was to jump out of the car, even if it was moving. They had locked the car doors. So I leaned back, pretended to scratch my hair, and shakily unlocked the door I was leaning against. I'm so lucky they did not see or hear this!

4. I went 'crazy' at the right time.

And then I waited. I knew that the car would have to slow down outside the parking lot, as it exits to merge with the main roads. The moment it slowed down, I opened the car door and tried to make a run for it. I failed. I kicked my legs out of the car, but the Indian man had managed to pull my body back in. From this moment on, everything is a blur. I remember the Malay driver temporarily stopping the car, leaning over from the driver's seat and attempting to close the door and pull my legs in. At that point I remember thinking, "Even if I don't get out now, I need to keep the door open and my legs out the door. At the very least, it should cause a scene, and someone would see me. Or, the door might hit another car and they'll be forced to slow down." So I continued kicking. My right foot pushed against the wide-open car door to keep it open. I recall elbowing, struggling, kicking, and even biting. I lost my glasses, and was struggling blindly for my life. At some point the Malay driver yelled, "BAGI DIA LEPAS! BAGI DIA LEPAS!" (Let her go! Let her go!) and the Indian man loosened his grip. I made a jump out of the still-moving car, and ran for my life.

5. I acted in spite of the fear.

My friends said I was brave. But I didn't feel like it. I was quivering and shaking in fear. I was so afraid. I thought I was going to die. I was weak with fear and deathly afraid. I truly thought "this was it". But I knew I had to move. I had to run. Or there would be a worser fate in store for me. While I was quaking in fear, I forced myself to look around and see if there was any way I could escape, or even catch someone's eye.

6. I remembered the people I love.

The only thing that matters when you're faced with potentially horrendous fate, is the people in your life. When I felt the knife to my neck, the first thing I thought was, "This cannot be happening. I must be dreaming." The second? The people that truly matter to me flashed across my mind. It sounds cliche, but it's true. I thought of my parents. My brother, Khailee, Esther. More people. That's all I could think of for a few moments, before I started brainstorming my escape.

I ran towards the Maybank outlet at The Curve. There were plenty of people milling around. I screamed for help over and over again. I was hysterical. I grabbed an older Malay man by his shoulders and begged for help before practically collapsing at his feet.

I will always remember the relief and liberation I felt, running over Mutiara Damansara's manicured grass and into the crowd.

Today, I found out that the entire ordeal from the moment I left the parking ticket payment machine, to my escape, happened in about 4 minutes. To me, it felt like one long nightmare.

We never think it’s going to happen to us... and then it does. I used to think that this is something that happens only in the papers and to people far, far removed from me. But then it did happen to me. I moved to PJ/KL 6 years ago, and I've spent countless mornings, afternoons and nights at The Curve. When my friends and I were organizing Rock Up! back in 2008, we were walking around the place at 4AM even. It's been 6 years, and never once did I feel that I was unsafe at The Curve. Until yesterday.

I feel like moving out of the country ASAP. Getting the hell out of this state where you hear of a kidnapping or attempted one every month (remember Nayati?), or a snatch theft every week. And yet I'm fully aware of the fact that in another country with more lax firearm laws, they would've been holding a gun to my head, not a cleaver. And that would've been so, so much worse.

I'm blessed. By God's grace, I am alive and relatively well. And I will live another day to build another cat iPhone app. It just was not my time to go. And for that, I thanked God.

I want to share this story with everyone because cops tell me that they rarely get to hear it from someone who escapes.

Girls, be so very careful. Be vigilant, and please try not to go anywhere alone. If you need to walk to the car park, and you're alone, get a guard to go with you. I was recently told that it's part of their job description to assist anyone if needed.
Guys, watch out for your girlfriends, wives, mothers, sisters and friends. Walk with them, don't take their paranoia or fear lightly. Watch out for them.

And everyone, just watch out for each other. Take care of each other. These things really DO happen. As I ran out of the car, so many people came to help me. Strangers who didn't know who I was, came forward and offered me tissue paper, water, cellphones, and general comfort.

Malaysians, please care for one another. You already do. Just keep on caring. Keep watching out for each other. Don't worry about being thought of as "busy body" or "overreacting". The world can be a cruel place, but all it takes is for people to care for one another to make all the difference.

Sekinchan Ikan Bakar

Happenings in our beloved land, Malaysia. Written by an enlightened Malay (a market analyst).

If you happen to travel around this country and check on the statistics, especially the pasar malam, find out who runs the stalls and their businesses? Check out our beloved Chow Kit Road, and see who owns the thriving commerce? Or visit the Pudu wet market and see who is shouting for customers at 4am (even before the *beep* crows).

Half the businesses now are with the foreigners, another half with other races, the Malays only have land titles left (especially reserve land of no value). All the GLC's are still in Malay hands, but not for long; otherwise all will be sold off in no time at all. As a people, the Malays are not known for perseverance and enduring commitment. They have no business acumen. Being entrepreunerial is a steep climb for them and the Malays have no stamina to stomach the strains and stresses. I speak from experience. They are easily swayed by circumstances.

More than half our local workforce are pendatangs (Indons, Myanmars,Nepals, Vietnamese, Banglas!) This country is not only bankrupt as said by Idris Jala, but also - telah dilelongkan. The poorer of the majority Malays left behind will become beggars and mat rempit, mat gian, mat ragut and mat dadah (they are all subsidized by our government funding to buy their No 1 drugs of escapism to run away from a harsh reality - Metadon). Who culled their own Malay race? Nobody but UMNO-BN itself! I rest my case.

Since 1957 UMNO has effectively carried out the population engineering of our country to ensure its own long-term survival by creating the myth of a two-pronged "Ketuanan Melayu" strategy of mind control. "Ketuanan Melayu" for the majority Malay masses who are lulled and numbed into a feeling of being superior over the non-Malays because of their demographic numbers; and "Ketuanan Melayu" for the favoured UMNOputra Malay political elites through the accumulation of massive material wealth and power for themselves and their cronies. And while UMNO has failed by almost any measure you chose to gauge them – good governance, ethics or morality – without question they have succeeded too well in the social engineering exercise after the bloody race riots of May 13, 1969. The duplicity of UMNO in proclaiming 1Malaysia - Satu Bangsa, Satu Negara -while all the while undertaking a relentless program to whittle down the numbers of the non-Malays through a very precise and focused political initiative is breathtaking in its effectiveness!

Consider this -
In 1957: 45% of the population were Chines, 12% of the population were Indians.
In 2010: 25% of the population are Chinese, 7% of the population are Indians.
Over 600,000 Chinese and Indian Malaysians with red IC status were rejected repeatedly when applying for citizenship and possibly 60% of them had passed away due to old age.
Since 1957: 2 million Chinese have emigrated, 0.5 million Indians have migrated, 3 million Indonesians came over to Malaysia to become Malaysian citizens with Bumiputra status even if they stay less than 5 years. (Nett gain 0.5 million and an additional of 3 million manufactured Bumiputras like Muslim Indonesians). The most famous is none other than Mohd Khir Toyo who stayed for 20 years but became MB of Selangor.

In the not too distant future, I reckon Malay bumiputras may have to worry about 2nd or 3rd generation Indonesian migrants, owing to the virtues of hard work and thrift taught by their parents, or grandparents, would have surpassed the majority Malays in terms of socio-economic progress. Mohd Khir Toyo is smarter than most local-born Malays in terms of amassing his personal wealth at the shortest duration of time. Even Muhammad Muhammad Taib is no match for him. That's how smart Khir Toyo is.

Instead of teaching their people the virtues of hard work and perseverance, the UMNO warlords are proclaiming Ketuanan Melayu to feed off the Chinese minorities like parasites. If not for the Chinese taxpayers, the Malays will be sleeping the five footways. Of course the Chinese isn't a threat - they are just workaholics - they want to create wealth and prosperity so much so that no failures of any kind is going to stop them. Not even the ultra Malay racists spewing blood in their eyes or frothing venom in their mouths. It is envisaged the Chinese demographics will dwindle to stabilise at 4per cent of the overall Malaysian population but their accumulated wealth and economic power will continue to rise to more than 75per cent of the overall GDP of the country. That's proof enough how steady and influential the Chinese economic stranglehold over the majority Malays will become; and we believe racial hatred and resentment is well likely to remain for the next 50 years. They work hard for the money but we envy them in our idleness.

Whereas the Indonesian newcomers went out to work before you become awake and they are not home yet when you call it a day and went to bed. Will the majority Malays consider them a threat when they deservedly find new wealth? The Indonesians respect the Chinese for their business acumen and diligence. Do the Malays think likewise if not indulge in unguarded jealousy and envy?

Now the non-Malays are well aware of this tinkering and engineering of our population and it would do us Malays no good to say that it was UMNO's doing and that we had no hand in what happened at the end of the day. As a Malay I was then comfortable that UMNO was the dominant partner in the Barisan Nasional. It was indeed comforting to know that Malays controlled four of the five major banks. We were also in control of UMBC, MISC and Southern Bank – all previously owned by the Chinese. But seemingly the Chinese-owned Public Bank which is not in our control is moving ahead of the others still in economic prowess and competitive skills. What's wrong with our control?

Education?

Between 1968 to 2000: 48 Chinese primary schools shut down, 144 Indian primary schools closed, 2637 Malay Primary Schools were built. Of the total government budget for these schools, 2.5% were for the Chinese, 1% for the Indians and a whopping 96.5% for the Malay primary schools.

The fact that 2637 Malay primary schools were built between 1968 to 2000 implied that the engineered process of retarding our majority Malays or bumiputras is getting obvious. At the end of their school lives, they have nowhere to go except to stay put in this country, as like idiots they have nowhere else to go because everywhere they are faced with a serious language problem and a communication breakdown with others. They will, like it or not, have to support the Ketuanan Melayu concept to survive for their freebies or welfare. The mentality is - No need to work and money will still come. Scions of the rich and wealthy UMNOputras will be educated overseas and return to continue to rule over their poorer local cousins.

Petronas petrol stations?

Of the 2000 station the Malays owned 99%. Yes, we the Malays were indeed in control. In control of what? We were in control of all the business licenses and permits for Taxis and Approved Permits (APs). We were in control of Government contracts of which 95% were given to Malays. We were in control of the rice trade through Bernas that bought over 80% of Chinese rice millers in Kedah. Even Robert Kuok aka Sugar King was forced to sell his sugar franchise to UMNO crony interests so that the Malays are deemed to be in control of the sugar market; and the other essential basic items. We were in control of bus companies. Throughout Malaysia, MARA buses could be seen plying all the routes. Non-Malays were simply displaced by having their application for bus routes and for new buses rejected. Many local Chinese owned bus companies are already kaput in the urban centres.

Every new housing estate being built had a mosque or a surau. None, I repeat "no" temples or churches were built for any housing estate even if the majority residents are non Malays! We even blare the loudspeakers in every mosque calling for Azan at maximum volume just so to tell the non Malays and non Muslims that we are in control!

So why with control over all these highly visible entities and business opportunities are the majority Malays still unable to stand tall and with pride over and above the non-Malays? We are unable to so do because it was not the Malays that benefited from these opportunities - only the favoured UMNOputras enjoyed the benefits, and the poorer among the majority Malays were merely taken for a ride as their name were used by UMNO to hijack the national agenda. The Chinese bogeyman and the Malay hobbyhorse work wonders for UMNO to play one against the other in their evil scheme of Divide and Rule to suit their survival plan.

Why must UMNO constantly harped about the need to spoon-feed the majority Malays – about Ketuanan Melayu when it is already in place and about Bumiputra status and all the privileges and rights that goes with that special status?

And as a Malay I want to ask the non-Malays why you still chose to live in a country whose racist government has by its actions and deeds done whatever it could to make you not feel welcomed as a Pendatang? The non-Malays I know have all told me the same thing – Malaysia is their country – they know of no other country they can call their own. And so they stay and put up with the abuses and nonsense.

The difference now is that there are enough Malays who are ashamed by the nihilistic antics of this ultra racist Malay political organization call UMNO. There are enough Malays to tell the non-Malays that we feel your pain, too. We understand your frustrations and despair at not being treated as equals in a country you call your own.

You must remember that UMNO will never treat you as equals or partners in progress. They want eveything for themselves. If you are not happy you can get out. UMNO does not give a damn if you're a rocket scientist or Albert Einstein Reborn. If you are non Malay you are 2nd class pendatang. Remember that well.

And enough non-Malays had migrated abroad to cause our country to understand that their loss is another country's gain. Singapore gained the most. A loss, which our country can ill afford to sustain in the long run. Only dumb and stupid Malay leaders deny the causes.

And more important, all these groundswell of disgust and contempt at UMNO has manifested itself in a way these political idiots cannot understand – losing our votes in the 12th General Elections on 10 March 2008. Say Amen for that. Instead of seeking penance these racist bastards scream for bloodshed and mayhem still.

And so we wait for the 13th General Election in 2011 which we hope will dish out the relevant karma for UMNO and its lameduck Barisan Nasional partners. The stooges and the parasites.

Meantime understand what they have done to us all – not only the non-Malays but also to the Malays and do not allow UMNO or Barisan Nasional to play the race card and start their divide and rule antics on us anymore.

You are one with me and we are two.
United we stand divided we fall.
One for all and all for one.

The corruption of Mahathir - George Soros reply to Mahathir. The article adapted from Bangkok Post which is not published locally.

I have always said Dr Mahathir is a menace to his own people. Now only you can see the effects of his foolishness when the ringgit has halved its value overnight and your economy goes kaput. Single handedly you have caused hardship to millions of your own people. You have built useless mega projects at tremendous cost to the country.

The telecoms tower in Kuala Lumpur and the highest building in the world show how stupid you are. Not only does it cause massive traffic jam, it has totally no purpose. If you need high ground for telecoms antennae, a nearby mountain is there for free. This tower has no purpose from the ground up to 300 metres. The satellites make this totally unnecessary. A fool and his money are soon parted. The only thing is you are the fool and the money belongs to Malaysians.

You make 20% in every project, you have real estate in Japan and billions of shares corruptly acquired. Your 3 sons are worth 8 billion US$. Where do they get this money? Of course, corruption.

You are known as the Marcos of Malaysia, having enriched yourself to the tune of billions. You dare to shed crocodile tears during UMNO delegates meeting about the ills of corruption. Yet you are the most corrupt of all the prime ministers before you. A thief is crying thief and hopes people look the other way. Who dares to say anything when the chief is caught with his hands in the candy jar?

You said wisdom is not the monopoly of the West. So is foolishness. You have more foolishness than most people would believe. Billions are used to build two high rise Petronas buildings that benefit nobody. They now stand tall, a symbol of stupidity and irresponsibility. Instead they just add on to traffic jams. What is this reclamation of 10 islands off Kedah? Totally absurd and stupid. Of course your benefit is 20%. And the bridge across from Malacca to Sumatra across international waters? Why not build a bridge to the moon? I am sure you still can get your 20%. You called me a Moron. How can a Moron make so much money. By allowing short selling and borrowing millions of shares from your banks we fund managers made millions out of your inexperience and poor regulations.

You lose all Malaysians' money, therefore you are the Moron. Now you know too late and start crying over spill milk. In Australia you are known as the recalcitrant ego maniac; in UK the corrupt bastard because of your stupid purchase of our movie studio and the 290 million ringgit Lotus racing car plant and the shady Pergau dam loans from the UK. They are useless to us and you still want to buy them.

What about buying British reject submarines through your agent, of course. The agent/ broker is designed to make millions out of the Malaysian government. Your purchase of our battleships is at least 50% more than others are paying. Your purchase of 9 hospitals from UK lock, stock and barrel does not support your local architects or your industry and the British send you obsolete medical equipment. The design is atrocious, one end to the other is half a kilometer and there is no CT-scan, an absolute necessity.

In the UK your face appears in no less than 17 newspapers as a corrupt dictator. In Malaysia you are known as the (IBM) International Big Mouth. In Japan they call you the 'smallest one' (brain size). In Pacific islands, the Santa Claus (giving advice left and right). In south America they call you the parrot (he talks a lot but does not know what it is about). In Manila the living Marcos.

In Malaysia they are spending millions to lure tourists and you talk rubbish scaring every foreigner away. When he is dumb he is doubted a fool, when he opens his mouth it removes all doubt.

While I agree the West does not have the monopoly to wisdom, your actions are not the wisest either. Your EAEC has totally no support even in Asean. Your South-South dialogue meets with the same fate and what is this I hear of the Bridge from Peninsula Malaysia to Sumatra covering 20 miles across International shipping lane?

How crazy can one get? Even the Japanese don't have the money. This world's stupidity seems to be concentrated in one man's mind - yours.

The multimedia super corridor - MSC. Well in USA its Most Stupid Concept because we Americans, would have thought of it light years before. Even if it makes money, we can copy this concept can't we?

Why do you want to spend your hard-earned money doing questionable projects? It will be like the Bakun project. Abandoned fund wasted and another white elephant. I always say politicians should not be involved in business. Your ministers are also businessmen and almost every official is enriching himself. Look at Rafidah Aziz, selling thousands of Approved Permits (APs) for cars each worth 20-30 thousand Malaysian dollars. Why not your government sell them and make the money? She has acquired millions of shares meant for bumis for free before she agrees to list them.

Look at your Selangor Chief Minister collecting millions for approving high rise buildings from businessman. He is worth a few billions. Unfortunately he was caught with a few million pocket money in Australia. Every Chief minister is awarding useless projects to his cronies then collecting secret pay offs on the side. The Land Development Boards and the Economic Development Boards are used to bail out any loses suffered by politicians. The profits they keep, the loses they force the Government bodies to absorb. How can your poor ever close the gap when every good deal is snatched by your politicians? How can your country get out of poverty if all the billions of corruption money is taken out of the country?

Look at the Sarawak Chief Minister selling billions worth of timber concessions under the table; selling every piece of state land to businessmen without tender; using his own companies to obtain lucrative government contracts; selling approval signatures for a fee 'you pay I approve'. He has 8 billion US stashed overseas. Thousands of acres of land are given to one or two companies while thousands of poor people still live in cardboard makeshift homes; have no water and shit into the river.

Thousands of acres of land are sold to companies for plantations while the natives do not have even one acre to their name. He is selling sand near the beaches to one company for earth filling and then ask the government to spend millions to protect the coastline when erosion occurs.

He lost 300 million of the Sarawak government money trying to make computer chips. He has built a port in Northern Sarawak town in water so shallow it needs dredging every year. The Prime Minister built highways without tender, your cronies get the deal and the price double. Your Langkawi airport runway was built double the cost by your own company, Ekran.

The Malaysian nation has lost at least 30 billions during your last 10 years of corrupt rule. One billion lost from the purchase of phantom Skyhawk war planes nobody has ever seen (are they still in the Nevada desert, USA?). 3 billion lost from the London tin scandal (you thought you could corner the London tin market without knowing the Americans have a stockpile! Stupidity at its best. 6 billion Perwaja steel mill where nobody even knows where the money goes, 3 billion bank Bumiputra scandal when George Tan bribed all the bank officials to lend him the money. 6 billion forex lost by Bank Negara (the fool and his money are soon parted) and 6 billion to build three of the world's tallest buildings (built by Japanese and Koreans and furniture imported from France - not Malaysia ) and 1 billion lost from purchase of British warships including fees paid to the broker and under the table. Add the 10 billion you stole and 5 billion taken by Ministers.

In the 1997 the World Journalists meeting voted Dr Mahathir the Prime Minister of the Decade. It sounded strange to everybody until it was revealed those who voted against are threatened by IRD officers and with losing their jobs. In New York the United Nations 1997 meeting, the most corrupt Prime Minister of the decade is President Suharto and second Dr Mahathir (Actually Dr Mahathir should take first place but bribed the Indonesians to take honour of Number One.)

There are fifty thousand of your university students not given places in Malaysia but are good enough for places overseas resulting in billions of dollars lost. The British and the Australians are thinking how stupid. Your best students are sent overseas raising their standards while as in most countries the best are kept in local universities and the rejects sent overseas.. A university student in Hong Kong is much more prestigious than any Australian counterpart. You have been colonised by the British so long you cannot even educate your own people. Look at Hong Kong or Singapore, less than 5% study overseas. All the money saved. Your country could save billions if every student overseas is recalled to a local university, and at the same time raising your own standards.

Your people are still without shoes, without land to farm, without homes, bathing in rivers shitting in holes in the ground, without water and electricity. Your cities are concrete jungles without greenery and open spaces. Your KL is jammed with traffic. Yet you still keep on building high rises. You should come down from the clouds and stop daydreaming and firmly plant your feet in the ground. Your schools are cramped 500 students to an acre and thousands of acres are given free to some politicians who leave them idle. Your parks are being taken by politicians to build shop houses and every cabinet minister is a land-grabbing businessman who builds roads only to their cronies' land.

The Malaysians' Prayer, "Ya Allah, we thank you for your gifts of timber, oil and grain. But then the devil sent us corrupt Mahathir without a Brain and look we are back to square one again. So just take Dr Mahathir back to Hell and we will be alive and well."

In China people have been shot for embezzling one thousand dollars. With 8 billion you have stolen, therefore you would be shot 80 thousand times. Now you are leading an anti-corruption campaign. We all know what you should do. Look yourself in the mirror. You see the crooked you. Then use your left hand and handcuff your right hand. You have put the opposition leader and his son in jail when they said in parliament you are the richest PM in the world. And his colleague Mr Karpal Singh too for 2 years.

So I get a reward or bribe if I now say you are the poorest PM in this world? Your 3 sons are sitting on the board of directors of more than 200 companies. They must have been educated in Harvard school of business and obtained distinctions? Or is it "you don't know me, you don't do business in Malaysia" law that applies. Billions of ringgit of Employee's Provident Fund and public Petronas funds are used to bail out your sons who make losses investing in every venture you thought you could make money. How unethical and corrupt. Every one of your politicians is sitting on the board of tens of companies making thousands without any effort, lending their VIP names to borrow millions from local banks without collateral. Now these have become non- performing loans. Now you want 20 million Malaysians to sacrifice for the folly of ONE man? Why not the fool resign and admit he wasted and took most of the money. I could teach you how to put your economy on track but first you must apologize to the Malaysian people.

French Courts To Call Najib

Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak is in a pickle. He has been accused of plotting sexcapades to bring down his arch enemy Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim. His UMNO party has been busily making allegations of immorality and demanding that Anwar resign to spare the country shame.

Yet, it is Najib himself who has and will again put the country in the greatest media spotlight, and regrettably, of the negative sort. It is almost certain that as the main protagonist, he will be called by the French courts to testify over a suspiciously expensive acquisition of 2 Scorpene and one Agosta submarines in 2002.

The Malaysian UMNO leader faces allegations of having received kickbacks, whether directly or indirectly, from French arms-maker DCN.

"Our lawyers have advised us that it could take anything from the next few weeks or the next couple of months until a judge is appointed for the open trial in France," SUARAM director Cynthia Gabriel told a press conference on Monday.

According to Cynthia, SUARAM lawyers had informed them that the inquiry stage by Parisian authorities was nearing an end, and the next move would be the "full trial" stage, where witnesses will be called.

In Malaysia, the 58-year old Najib has leveraged on his ruling party and political connections to cover up the case, even though it also included a full-blown murder case. A 28-year old Mongolian translator, alleged to be his former mistress and the jilted lover of his close friend Razak Baginda, was shot in the head and blown up with military C4 explosives by two of his former bodyguards. From letters she wrote, Altantuya Shaariibuu had come to Kuala Lumpur in 2006 to demand her US$500,000 share of the commission paid by DCNS.

But according to a private investigator hired by Baginda, Najib's wife Rosmah forbade the men to pay her a cent. Baginda has been accused of being Najib's proxy in the kickbacks.

A firm with no track record and connected to him, Perimekar, received a side-deal worth 114 million euros or about RM530 million to service the submarines. Furthermore, the proceedings in France has found out that three commissions instead of one were paid for the sale of submarines.

"In addition to that of 114 million euros, there are two further installments, one paid by DCN to the commercial networks of Thalès, for over 30 million euros, corresponding to "commercial fees" relating to the negotiation and execution of the contract," another SUARAM director Kua Kia Soong had written in a statement.

"This second commission was paid by Thalès to a recipient, who remains unknown, in order to convince the Malaysian government of the need to conduct additional work. The third commission was for 2.5 million euros." It
has also been found that Gifen, a company established in Malta, facilitated the "money transfers in this case", and particularly financed the trips of Baginda and Altantuya.

Mystery new link to Najib Last week, Cynthia told Malaysia Chronicle that their lawyers have since received knowledge of a "third person" who travelled frequently with Baginda and Altantuya during the negotiations with DCN. She declined to name the person, but speculation is rife that this was another link to Najib, who had then been the Defense Minister and had directly sanctioned the purchase. The French courts can be expected to demand information from DCN, Najib and Baginda as to whether Altantuya had indeed played a role in the submarines deal. At the very least, the money transfers by Gifen would require an explanation for her role in the deal.

In her murder trial, the Malaysian courts refused to allow any mention of the submarines deal despite the probability of a connection to her death. "The submarine deal was never brought up in court during the murder trial which saw prosecutors, defense attorneys and the judge judiciously keeping Najib's name out of the proceedings," said Kua.

"After being acquitted in November 2008 under questionable circumstances of participating in her murder, Razak Baginda left the country for England. The bodyguards were convicted but no motive was ever established for their actions."

Malaysians will faint knowing their PM, few Malaysians expect Najib or Baginda will attend the trial. The French courts have no jurisdiction to force their appearance but it can demand the truth from DCNS.

"If Najib goes, I think Malaysians will faint. But it is very odd when a deal of such a huge size, and the parties involved are giant world conglomerates that a Prime Minister chickens out. If he does that, he has already told the world he is guilty as charged. Malaysians and UMNO itself must demand his immediate resignation," PKR vice president Tian Chua told Malaysia Chronicle.

SUARAM is Malaysian top human rights activist group. It got into the act after failing to get satisfactory answers from the government. Protest by citizens' groups were similarly ignored and even opposition politicians were stonewalled when they asked 'tough' question of the RM6.7 billion purchase in Parliament.

"SUARAM hopes the French justice system will reveal more than what the Malaysian judicial system has failed to deliver so far and will bring justice and closure to the family of Altantuya, and force the French and Malaysian Governments to account to their peoples regarding the commissions on the submarines contract," said Kua.
