Pose on the first drawing seems too boring, lazy and unatractiv. It’s not Piglet hitting the flor, it’s rather sleeping piglet, or dead one…

General lack of dynamism.
So i changed it.

First colors. I wanted harmonic, monochromatic and cold palett. It didn’t look like Otto.

There is a reference for the Piglet shader in the corner

Otto concept started to bother me. It just didn’t seemed the right one  here. Not for this particular movie. I love this guys works but i dont want to do worst copies…

I did cracked tiles but that didn’t helped, scene was empty and dull… generally I do not like this image.

…so i searched for new references and i decided to start from skratch (ok, not so much, i liked the drawing) Robh Ruppel in one corner and Paul Felix at another. Both brilliant and inspiring.

There are unpainted, unfinished edges on the pictures. it is cose i just like the effect on traditional painting, when there are unfinished, accidential paint strokes on the edges of the stretcher. To have that effect i covered edges of the file with matte layer and i painted under it.

I let the whole tone to be rather homogeneous. I thought that  the local, or bright color can occur only at those places where direct light hits the surface, otherwise color stay bluish or greyish.

Grid from Vanishing point helped a bit with perspective.

Speculars on the Piglet were hard task.

I helped myself with simple 3d scene done in 15 minutes.

Polishing was the rest of the job.

And i couldn’t miss the spotlighton on the Piglet. Seckondary bounce of light on the nose and the hoof was one of the good elements of the first version of the work.
