What up fam!!! Back in the building...I know it's late (mid-year) but u already know what it been. It's the kid, Jay Biggz checkin back in. Shout out to everybody who supported "A Prelude to Sunset"...real hip-hop music still exists. Shout out to my team ESR and my crew The Jooks. The year been a lil rough, I took some time off to deal with family matters and personal issues, but I'm back. ST aint dead. With that being said, Tilden been doing his thing with his "Renditions" CD (my bad y'all...I aint get the verse in before the deadline....*shrugs* IOU), and I been talking to L, and it look like it's about that time we go back in, ya know...ST2. All new album, all new material, so I'm gonna be a all new Biggz this time. Y'all gon see....you can't be a freshman ya whole life, and eventually you become a senior and prepare to transition. That's the stage I'm in working on these new tracks...let's take it back to when hip-hop made people think about more than just dollars and scents, lol j/p...but nah i'm serious tho. We gonna give y'all a whole new ST, deeper concepts, and of course sharp lines...no cornball pop Jive Records-sounding stuff. Be on the look out cuz we coming soon with ST2...

What Up cool people!!! It's Biggzy Crosby bka Jay Biggz, ya know...On the check-in real fast.... A lot been going down in the past few weeks, but me and the fellas is maintaining. What's your 2010 resolution (as in HD, plasma, LCD)??? LOL, j/p... but seriously, y'all know what it is. Still in the lab...Im workin on Santos the Dark One to finish his upcoming project, y'all could find me on there a lil bit. Plus, coming up I got the follow up to BlueCard 1....BlueCard Series Vol. 2: Jay-Mare Stoudamire, ya know....that'll be out real soon, like 1st quarter '10. Just expect more lines, but on the real expect some Wizard of Poetry meets 808s and Heartbreaks type of stuff. The music is at a all-time high right now and Im doing my best to stay relevant but also stay ever-changing and innovative, so Im letting y'all know now, dont pigeonhole ya boy on 1 particular sound cuz Im'a do it how I feel it, true money. Sorry Y'all...Im Breaking Character

What up, fam!!! I wanna thank everybody who been hittin my twitter and myspace up, sending love and prayers for my mom in her condition...For those who aint know, my mom was diagnosed with an aggressive (cancerous) brain tumor in the early part of October, and needed surgery to have it treated. The surgery was a success and the tumor has been removed, they've done some testing on it to determine the cause...The whole thing is still a lil sensitive, so thats the most I can really put out there, but she is home now and recovering quite nicely for the time being, so thanks to every1 who stayed positive and prayed with me on it. Real talk, no joke, life is very precious, and is NEVER guaranteed, so every second you got here is a blessing and nobody should ever foresake that...We all here and everything happens cuz of the work of a higher power...you choose which 1 you wanna believe in cuz I dont believe in forcing religious beliefs down nobody's throat.

On another note, off the record, I wanna address something that kinda hits a lil close to home. For those of y'all out there who follow Sunset Terrace or just Jay Biggz as a solo artist, you see myself, Tilden Dexter, LK and Aapex... The 1 thing that I think differentiates me from the rest is they are IMO the "Silver Surfer/Fantastic 4" type of artists, meaning the stage name is a clever description of what they "powers" are, etc., but otherwise, they have no alter ego, what you get on the record is what you get in real life in dealing with them (IMO)..But me, Im the "Spiderman/Ironman" artist...Jamahl Harper is the Peter Parker you gonna prolley see in the streets, but I "put the costume on" and become Jay Biggz, ya dig. Thats not to discredit the lyrics or the content of what I say...its ALL a reflection of the visions of the person behind "the mask", however just because I aim for more "action" in my material doesnt mean that I or any other artist in my position should be charged with being responsible for the impact or the influence that I/we have. My point is this: At the end of the day, YOU the listener are responsible for what YOU get out of the material that WE, the artists, make, and depending on who you're a fan of, at no point in time should you feel like an artist is responsible for the validity of what is said or the image that is portrayed. Lets use myself as an example....I hear a lot of flack for what goes on on my twitter, I hear a lil hate for my contributions to the Sunset Terrace...I appreciate the feedback, but in all honesty, if the material/twitter was squeaky clean, would you buy it or follow me??? A lot of your fav artists are in the position where they have to say/do the things they do because they need a response from YOU, the listener, so at no point should EVERYTHING an artist does be scrutinized so heavily as to be picking apart if they real/fake or if they misogynistic/being a pimp, etc. because at the end of the day, Jay Biggz stays in the studio when the light gets cut off, and Jamahl Harper goes home to wifey... I say that to say this, keep it in the back of your mind that a lot of things you hear on records is not always true, but that doesnt mean it shouldnt be said. A movie such as Precious is not a movie that shouldn't be made just because the character "Precious" was not in actuality a real, living person. So the Jay Biggz you get is just as important as the LK, Tilden and Aapex you get...they movie is more of a biography or a documentary, where mines is more of a based on a true story, action film. That wasnt meant to be a shot at anyone in particular, moreso to be aimed at the people who look at artists as "role models" and place blame on the images they/we portray to the public.

Throughout Sunset Terr's debut, "A Prelude to Sunset Terr," this DC Metro hip-hop foursome, comprised of producer/rapper LK and MCs Tilden, Dexter, Jay Biggz, and Aapex, brag about the fact that they don't curse. I don't think anything is wrong with cursing. I fucking curse all the time. For no reason. Cock. Nothing's wrong with swearing. And usually, I wouldn't take well to this sort of petty moralizing. Just last week, I panned Khalil's debut for its self-righteous piety. The point is, I should hate this album.

But I don't hate this album. I like this album. A lot. While I usually am not so into MCs that mostly rap about rapping and how they are much better and nicer and smarter rappers than everyone else, there are a few things about "Prelude" that get me past this b-boy posturing to the point that I actually find it charming.

The first thing that makes "PST" more than a typical album is the production. If you locked Danger Mouse, Prince Paul, El-P and the Postal Service in a room together, the result would sound something like this record. MORE

100 downloads and a handful of burned disks I personally made for people, so yeah I got you
