The inside of this lighthouse was photographed with a fisheye lens. The lens added some additional curvature to the already winding interior.

Whelk Shell

While in Florida for part of this winter, I purchase this Whelk shell (I was inspired by a fellow photographer was has an incredible imagination) and placed a flash behind the shell. The flash was triggered by a wireless transmitter. (pocket wizard) The reflected colors were amazing.

Water Drops

Got an idea from a photographer friend so I thought I would give it a try. I suspended a bag of water over a tray of water. Behind the tray was a sheet of paper with color painted on it. As the water dripped from the bag a flash was remotely triggered. The colors from the paper reflected in the water resulting in various patterns.

Intimate with a Rose

This orange Rose was captured with a macro lens using two lights illuminating the Rose from the side.

Abstracts with Smoke

I wanted to have some fun with smoke so I used incense to create abstract smoke patterns. I illuminated the smoke by hand holding a flash off to the side. As you can see there are some very unique patterns. To complete the composite images I added pastel colors to complete the abstract.This unique image was created by using one of the images below and creating some crazy patterns with software. Every now and then it is fun just to do some playing with things that are very different than the normal work it do.
The softness of this image is very appealing to me.

Soft Focus fall and Spring Images

Normally I strive for sharp images in my landscape photography. Occasionally, an image lends itself to other techniques. These images have a digital soft focus filter applied to them give a very unique and artistic affect. Sugar Hill N.H. fall tree’s are a tapestry of colors. Softer focus helps enhance the textures of the unique colors. Tulips in Washington state appear painted with soft focus.

Dog Portraits

I have always considered myself a nature photographer. About a year ago a good friend asked if I would take some images of her Labrador Retrievers. It sounded like fun since I am an avid dog lover. Show was so pleased with the images she arranged about another dozen shoots. It was great fun. Here are a few of the characters I had the pleasure of playing with (without the help of my wife “Mary” none of these images would have been possible).

Poison Dart Frogs

I recently attended a “macro” workshop in St. Louis where various reptiles including Poison Dart Frogs (only poisonous in nature, not in captivity) were the featured subjects.
I am all Eye’s and legs! This pretty boy is a Veiled Chameleon. He remained in this positions for hours, making his portrait very easy.

This is one of the many Dart Frogs we photographed. Macro lenses were used with flash to bring out the brilliant colors on the frogs.

This Tree frog was one of everyone’s favorites. He seemed to enjoy the attention. The tree frog is slightly larger than the Dart Frogs which are only about 11/2-13/4 inches long. How about those eyes!
