Recently, I was asked to design a duvet cover for a client. The result is a printed image, with butterflies, doilies, and swirly gold leaf patterns. The Lining is yellow, and embellished with buttons, and contrasting stitching. Thank you to Darby Magill for taking these photos!

Chanti-lier

I am always looking for inspiration. Sometimes my inspiration comes from people I know, or have encountered, things I’ve seen, feelings, or a sunny day.

Recently, while walking through the Re-Use it Center in Whistler, I became inspired! I stumbled across this old Chandelier that was looking for a fresh start. She needed some love, and being in the mood to nurture, I gave her some:)

In order to give my Chandelier a unique charm, I headed down to Vancouver, and made a stop at Main Street’s IFound Gallery. This shop is inspiration! They have an amazing selection of Vintage clothing, jewelry, which is made in house, semi-precious stones, buttons, Vintage eyeglasses, and just about anything to get your imagination fired up! Demi, one of the lovely ladies behind it all, helped me hone in my jewelry making skills, in order to successfully “bedazzle” my Chanti-lier. Thank you so much!

Bueno Style Jewelry

You may have noticed that I have a thing for keyholes….

A couple of years ago, I was lucky enough to meet the lovely lady behind Bueno Style Jewelry, Christi York. She had a necklace that caught my eye – a vintage re-worked keyhole from her OAK collection. This beauty has been my favorite piece of jewelry ever since that day. Recently, I was scoping out her new collections online, and discovered another keyhole piece that I had to have.

Bueno Style Jewelry consists of One of A Kind pieces of jewelry made from old vintage accessories, or intriguing items that have long been forgotten. I would describe their style as “punk rock meets girl guide socialite”.

One of the things that I love about Bueno Style is that, each OAK piece is unique, hand crafted, and will never be replicated. I also love the idea of using fabulous items that are already here on this planet, and giving them new life, rather than tossing them away.

I’ve always wanted to re-upholster a piece of furniture. The thought of taking something you like, and making it something you love always inspires me.

I was given this vintage chair about 10 years ago, and it had seen better days. Because it is my only chair, it gets a lot of use, and the fabric was starting to crack open.

I have just moved into a beautiful new home, and decided I wanted to create a inspiring space in which I will live, and work. The red chair no longer suited my taste, so off to Chintz and Company I went. Chintz and Company is located in Vancouver’s Yaletown area, and supplies designers and home owners with a wide selection of incredibly beautiful furniture, decor, and upholstery fabric.

Here is the result of my first experiment with re-upholstering!
