of wild species gathered over centuries by botanists
and enthusiasts.

When buying bulbs, it's worth asking where they come from.

Some are still taken, without much care for the future survival of
the species,
from the wild.

The "National Green Ireland" Exhibition is on this weekend at the RDS.
This morning I attended a very wide-reaching seminar by Mr Claudio Baffioni.
His information on the programme to apply the Kyoto Protocol in the City of Rome
was an inspiration to all Urban Dwellers and Surburbanites.

The Sky's the Limit

Ever so often I hear radio reports on garbage flying round in
Space.
Looking at the sky on a clear evening, really there is
nothing much to see up there.

Recently, at the Civilex Exhibition in the RDS, Dublin,
I chatted with experts in the field of Environment Management
and Engineering.

We mostly agreed that it would be very easy to become neurotic
about Earth and Environment Affairs.

The Planet has been spinning merrily on its axis for aeons.
We are its custodians to some extent, but there are very
many forces in Nature that are very dimly understood.

Having confidence in our Blue-Green Planet is a very
positive way to live an Environmentally Friendly life.

There will be much discussion in the next few weeks about
the
Lisbon Treaty
and Carbon Issues.

Let's keep our ears to the ground
and our sights on a
Bright Horizon.

Ever so often I look around the house and wonder
how far each object has travelled to this final
destination.

It passes the time nicely.

Posting photos as thumbnails, while inviting viewers to strain a little to enjoy the image, may be one way of making a blog efficient and ecologically friendly.

There are so many ways of cutting down on space and time while blogging that the temptation to spend hours online searching for new tips must be avoided.

This is beginning to sound like a homily from days of yore.

As Mae West said,

"I generally avoid temptation unless I can resist it".

Intensive farming has been viewed as causing carbon emissions.

Lulled Into a False Sense of Insecurity

The intellectuals are flooding the airwaves at last.
In an effort to understand where consumerism is heading,
where it may be dragging World events, there is an increasing
interest among pundits who interpret every shift of customer
activity on the Globe.

I find it tiring.

Last night a long analysis of how "consumerism does not make people happy"
on Radio Four, sent me off for some moments to another station, while the
experts moaned on about how humans are destroying the World and our own
happiness.

This is not my personal experience, so perhaps I cannot throw myself into
the fray with any great enthusiasm. Since I grew up on post WW2 Europe,
life seems quite improved on those past grey days.

Probably an idiosyncracy?
