Microsoft will stop selling its unpopular OneCare security software and has announced it will offer it for completely free to download and will support Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 from the end of June 2009. The new software, code-named Morro, will be a no-frills program suited to smaller and less powerful computers.

So what will happen to McAfee and Symantec? We will know about it later maybe. But for now people maybe still must use one of those antivirus, or maybe better to use free antivirus like Avast and AVG. But i myself recommend to use Avast than AVG. Because from my own experience, AVG gave me more troubles while Avast is more better and my PC can stand longer with it.

In a statement, Microsoft said that Morro would be designed specifically to be a small-footprint program that uses fewer system resources. This, it said, would be ideal for users with low-bandwidth connections or computers without much processing power.

For further reading, visit BBC News.

Mozilla released Firefox 3.1 beta 1 on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at 2:42 pm, incorporating many new features, including new engine TraceMonkey JavaScript and the Gecko rendering engine version 1.9.1.

Due to firm up since the release of Chrome and its V8 engine, TraceMonkey promises to be up to 40 times faster than its predecessor SpiderMonkey, currently used. It should also enable it manually in the draft before they can determine the extent of progress on the web applications demanding JavaScript.

The new version of the Gecko rendering engine improves for its compliance standards, support of certain properties of CSS 2.1 and CSS 3 has been added. The audio and video elements of the future HTML 5 are also involved, they can simply integrate this type of multimedia files to a page. GSE is now integrated as standard, the key combination Control + Tab can get a preview of tabs but it seems not yet to have traces of private navigation mode already mentioned.

However, further information can be obtained on the official page. The final version is expected by the end of the year. The Internet browser war become hotter!

In any case, either of the two names together perfectly describes his main task, the photograph.

It is the second of the models that Samsung is launching an 8 megapixel sensor, which is closer to a camera than a cellphone. But in this last feature also highlights the Samsung M8800 presenting characteristics shared with other models of the manufacturer or the like Omnia Tocco.

It is a quad phone with support for HSDPA connectivity. Is controlled through its touchscreen, with a size of 3.2 inches and a resolution of 240 x 400 pixels. It comes equipped with TouchWiz interface, which allows handle it with your fingers, and with which we can use various widgets, including a prediction of time and some of Google.

Although not handle physical keyboard, the Samsung M8800 offers an onscreen keyboard, which is kind of QWERTY if we use in horizontal. To do so, the phone has an accelerometer that automatically rotates the screen to rotate. But if you prefer other methods of text input, also supports handwriting recognition.

No falls short in the rest of features, since it also includes a GPS receiver and Bluetooth connectivity, but there should be something essential in this kind of a phone today, the Wi-Fi connectivity, which has not been included in The Samsung M8800. A pity, because we will have to rely always HSDPA.

In the multimedia section, offers us the opportunity to play in DivX video and music, can store the content on memory cards MicroSD type. Too bad it does not include a conventional headphone jack, but an owner of Samsung, like they did in the Omnia. We find also an FM radio tuner with RDS support.

But we are going to point the most spectacular Samsung M8800, its camera. As the resolution offered is eight megapixels, supporting auto and having an image stabilizer. It includes features for recognizing faces and detect smiles and flashing, which normally only see in compact cameras of medium and high.

In addition to photos (which, incidentally, can be geolocalize thanks to the GPS receiver), the camera also can record video, either in widescreen, 720 x 480 pixels, or conventional, at 640 x 480 pixels, 30 frames per second.

Good specifications of the Samsung M8800, which is being advocated as an alternative to the Samsung Omnia, but with a better camera and replacing the Windows Mobile operating system by itself from a Korean manufacturer. Too bad the lack of Wi-Fi connection to allow the networks where available.

Will be put up for sale starting in November and its price around about the 550 euros free.

Via : Mobile-review

In the first it is necessary to highlight its manual controls, while an objective angle is the most striking feature of the second.

In this way, the Canon Digital IXUS 980 IS becomes the first of this series at camera have manual controls. This allows you to control the shutter speed and aperture diaphragm, giving them more control over the results that we obtain from the 14.7-megapixel CCD sensor and image processor DIGIC IV.

The objective with optical image stabilization has not been so round, because despite having an optical zoom of 3.7 increases, its focal (36-133 mm, f/2.8-5.8) are less angular from which we would like. Not the case with the LCD, which has a respectable 2.5 inches diagonally.

On the other hand we have the Canon Digital IXUS 870 IS, which aims stabilized with focal equivalent to 28-112 millimeters more like us. The 4x optical zoom result is not to throw rockets, but more importantly qse moves on the border angle of the optical large.

In the Canon Digital IXUS 870 IS does not need the image processor DIGIC IV that such spectacular results achieved in the films Canon EOS 5D Mark II, but this time came with a 10-megapixel CCD sensor and a 3 inch screen.

Finally, both models have the ability to record VGA video at 30 frames per second, have a range of sensibilities from 80 to ISO 1600, have the system of detecting and tracking faces, and uses SD cards as a method of storing and a USB port and a video output as a means of communication with other devices.

Both the Canon Digital IXUS 980 IS and Canon Digital IXUS 870 IS will be available from late September. Its recommended prices are 390 and 350 euros respectively.

Via : Gizmos

One could almost say it is an apparatus "manifest" that addresses the myths that want a powerful device is bulky, cumbersome and complex to use. As far as congestion, this model reduces it by abandoning the mirror SLR in favor of a system referred electronic (+ viewfinder screen rear), which helps reduce congestion by 50%. In making this choice, G1 deprives us of the undeniable qualities of the referred reflex (foremost among them the brightness) and replace them with those of the electronic referred well known to all users of compact and bridges: the preview in real time and displaying information on the screen.

The thorny issue caused by this change is that the clarity of sight, knowing that so far covered electronic devices have never matched the optical devices. Only tests can say what is in the case of G1, but given the fact sheet, we can now imagine that a step was taken, his viewfinder and its screen with a special resolution high, a cooling of about 60 frames per second and an automatic adjustment of brightness depending on the environment. It also notes that Panasonic has opted for a device that automatically switches the display on the viewfinder or on the screen depending on the position of the eye. The original framing (raz soil, above a crowd), would then be facilitated by the fact that the screen is tilted (180 degrees horizontally and 270 degrees vertically).

Regarding the simplicity of use, G1 then forward to having a smart automatic mode which includes six devices: the optical stabilization, which is activated when moved, that of Iso Intelligent if there is a moving subject, that of detecting faces for better development and better exposure, the detection of the scene for a commutation in the automatic mode most appropriate, the detection of light to an automatic adjustment of one of the screen and the auto tracking to facilitate the capture of moving subjects. It also notes that while it is complete in terms of priority and manual modes, G1 makes extensive use of scene modes (about 25 are present here), intended to reassure users beginners. However, strangely, at a time when the video remains the main argument of compact and bridges, and where it becomes possible on the same reflex (see the announcement of the Nikon D90), the Lumix G1 is dead on the mode. This is a compromise surprising for a device that appeared well placed to enjoy the best of both technologies and that its manufacturer equipped with a mini-HDMI output for connection to a TV.

This bridge, which draws upon the principle of reflex interchangeable lenses for the coup becomes vulnerable to dust that may be deposited on the sensor when changing lens, Panasonic responding to the problem by providing a protective device using a filter supersonic. As far as the compatibility of optical, we note that the G1 uses new Micro 4 / 3 and may also accept the conventional 4 / 3 provided to use an adapter. A gain in space and weight is again made possible because of the reduction in the diameter of the mount. This gain may be particularly interesting in the case of wide-angle and telephoto super whose construction optical complex has an impact on congestion. It finally holds that two objectives have now been announced, a Lumix G VARIO 14-45 mm f / 3,5-5,6 ASPH and a Lumix G VARIO 45-200 mm f/4-5, 6, both stabilised.

Here are the main specifications:
Catcher: Live MOS 4:3 of 12.11 million pixels
Display: LCD 3 "460 000 pixels
Viewfinder: Electronic 100% 1 440 000 pixels, 1.4 x magnification
Sensitivity: 100 to 3 200 Iso
Flash: synchro 1 / 160 seconds
Shutter speed: 1 / 4 000 in 60 seconds
Support registration: SD / SDHC / MMC
Power: Lithium Ion battery

Still to report an unusual characteristic for a device to target interchangeable, see quite unusual: the declination of the housing in three colors, black, red and blue. As the price and availability of Lumix G1, they are not yet known, this device has for now been announced that only by the Panasonic Japan.

Japan's Matsushita said that Lumix G1 is the world's smallest digital single-lens reflex (SLR) camera, targeting female users who want a high-performance machine that does not weigh too much.

Via : Clubic.com

Means, Google now has their own internet browser. They really want to conquer internet huh .......

So far, i think it is faster than any other browsers. It loads and surfs faster. But it is still lack of a few functions like not supported stumble button yet. I think StumbleUpon still not creating Stumble button to this browser so the stumblers still cannot stumble with this browser.

The design is quite simple but attractive. It looks like Netscape Navigator, only Google Chrome is more to blue while Navigator is more to black. I feel a bit awkward at the beginning of using it, maybe because it is still new. But now i'm getting more like to use it.

From what i read from Google itself, the new browser can avoid browser crash when we are editing documents or composing an email. It is of course faster and javascript also can load faster. There are more security equipped and can avoid mass browser exploit. There are architectural changes in browser that can also avoid malwares. The tab system is really dynamic (there is animation when we drag to the left and right, and when we drag outside of a tab bar , it will become a new window, and we can put it back to the tab bar). The URL box also can be a search box , so it has 2 in 1 function.

Google Chrome also included other browsers nice capability in one browser. In short, we can say Google Chrome is all nice functions of browsers in one browser, a total package. The thumbnail home-page is basically Opera's Speed Dial, and IE7 has had a thumbnail view for a couple of years. Chrome's InCognito is already in IE8 as InPrivate Browsing, and was in Safari 3 before. Omnibar is Firefox's Awesome bar, and couples more.

Furthermore, you can try download the browser and experience it for yourself. And remember, use at your own risk. I'm just conveying a news here . All the best :)

The device, whose name has not been revealed yet, will operate as a plasma screen offering a resolution Advanced HD 2160 x 4096 pixels. This is four times 1080p nenes, 4x Full HDTV.

As expected, the pileup has transcended the line that makes televisions seem televisions, flat and vast, it is literally a wall of video. At the moment it appears that the four glass panels of the only four prototypes that exist have been made by hand and confirmed the scheduled start of mass production for May 2009.

Nobody by Panasonic has yet dared to reveal the price or possible price of the apparatus, and everything and possibly be a 5-digit figure, we are confident that will not reach the donkeys calling for the Meridian 810, which alone I come in to mind when talking about such resolutions (without even trying to get to compare with plasma image projected image).

Via Engadget

This is an ultra-top-loading equipment, and offering a botonera consistent with that profile. Then, nothing else in sight, so this is minimalist LG DVS450H.

In terms of its technical characteristics, no less important than its design is that although the first is obvious, LG DVS450H gives us climbing up to 1080p in playback formats HD DivX, XviD-H. The proposed of Trekstor is that their speakers are not linked to either the computer or the flow.

To that end, he introduced Trekstor SoundBox Wireless, a system consisting of a transmitter that connects to the computer via the USB port and speakers, which can add up to 20 with a single issuer, and battery operated.

The Trekstor Wireless Soundbox have a range of up to 25 metres and are fed with four AA batteries, although we have no choice but can connect to your computer's USB port for energy.

The speakers include tactile controls, with which we can handle the volume individually, and a line input, where we can plug external music players.

It sold for 50 euros, including the issuer and a loudspeaker, and each additional speaker will cost 30 euros, to be available from October. We will see if the autonomy and power of the speakers offset the high price, which does not seem to mind too leave despite getting eliminate cables.

More on Trekstor

Strongly inspired, by the way, in the Asus Ecobook that we have seen here in some time Gizmos.

Many will see in this line of computers a proposal ecological, and this must explain that because it sounds somewhat contradictory to be cut trees to build something organic. But is that bamboo is a recyclable material, but better still is the fact that this is a tree and planted cane that can grow to 20 meters high in a short time, thus the renewal is virtually permanent.

But in addition, Asus says that this is a computer Bamboo Series "green" by the fact that it has improved energy consumption, achieving between 35 and 70 percent more battery life by comparing this with other notebook market .

Inside the Asus Bamboo Series is equipped with an Intel Core 2 Duo 1.2 Ghz, LED backlit screen of 11.1 inches and 120 gigabytes hard drive or a SSD of 32 gigabytes. There is an option more powerful Intel Core 2 Duo 2.26 GHz, 12.1-inch backlit screen, video GeForce 9300M GS and 320 gigabytes of disk.

In both cases there is Wi-Fi connectivity and optional WiMAX, card reader 8 in 1, webcam integrated 0.3 megapixel and Windows Vista operating system.

Via : Gizmo

It has a simple programmable body mechanism so that it changes forms in different situations. You dont have to carry it in your pocket or on your wrist. You can carry it anywhere, in anyform. You can roll it, bend it, put on your clothes like a clip. When the phone rings, the Nokia 888 forms itself into the shape of a phone. You can personalize these forms and record them. It’s like the feeling of having an electronic pet but not as a robot. As it senses your moves, it understands what you want, and responds to you in the way you love. It learns you, and learns to fit you better.

Also e-motions lets you send forms to the other Nokia 888 users and it. It could be the shape of a heart or a small dance. This way he can tell you he loves you without words.

By the way, e-motions stands for electronic motions. It works just like a program, where you can create forms to send to your Nokia 888 friends. You can send a heart shape to your girlfriend and her 888 will turn into the shape of a heart. That flexibility can get you thinking of all sorts of great things to do. Make a call to your boyfriend, and wrap him around your wrist; give it a date to remember and it can start flopping around. There are hundreds of ways to give the 888 a chance to surprise you. Form follows function and Nokia now lets form follow you.

Source : The Hottest Gadgets

The S740 is a prima facy standard cellphone, but things change when deploying the sliding QWERTY keyboard and toured the device 90 degrees to working with him horizontally. The QWERTY keyboard is ideal for SMS mandar using both hands, to write mails without limiting the standard 12-key keyboards.

Thanks to HDSPA modem, the device achieves download speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps and load up to 384 kbps, nothing to envy of most broadbanded installed in our country.

On the other hand, also incorporates with 3G, Bluetooth 2.0, WLAN 802.11 b / g and HTC extUSB (mini-USB 2.0 and audio jack in one), GPS, camera with 3.2 megapixel fixed focus and a screen of 2.4 inches QVGA .

The S740 runs Windows Mobile 6.1 and incorporates Google Maps, FM radio and feed reader. The processor device is a Qualcomm MSM7225 of 528 MHz and comes with 256MB of RAM. The internal memory is only 256MB, expandable thanks to the microSD card slot, but one must admit that getting everything put this apparatus in a thickness of 16.3mm and weighing 140 grams, taking into account of the sliding keyboard and others, should not be easy.

The S740 maintains the rear carved in the form of diamond as the Diamond Touch, and the front shows a minimalism of the most elegant, without becoming Simplon.

If you are attentive to developments in the field of mobile, you may have noticed that it is not easy to achieve a balance between technological sophistication and style, spend some of the first attempts by others to the latter. Not a word yet on price, but it's better to not let the price so cheap or so expensive.

Via : Gizmos
