2. First-aid kit (small). “Better to prevent than cure”.
3. Bottle of water – staying well-hydrated is a key to overall well-being.
4. Quick-drying towel – in case you get wet or want to take a bath.
5. Earplugs. If you stay in a hostel, there will people and people mean noise
6. Notebook & pen . You’ll want to write about your experiences.

• Softshell jacket. It combines warmth with decent water resistance.

Then, we have the central tower, where silk thieves or unfair traders were imprisoned till the Authority’s decision.
Once in the main room, you’ll be surpised by these huge columns and the high ceilings.
Big chandeliers light the attractive dimness inside.
Tall and imposing doors and windows decorate the thick walls. 

This structure is considered one of the most brilliant examples of European civil late Gothic.
The style of the roof and columns of the main hall has a definite logic: they are supposed to represent paradise, the columns are palm trees and the ceiling represents the sky. Before the vault was blue with small stars, but a few centuries later colors were removed. 

The 28 gargoyles of the Lonja, that had the task of draining water from the roof, are really strange. We can note in them satirical scenes and an eroticism even unpleasant: men covered with hair, men and women with strange faces touching their genitals.

Before entering in the building, you’ll walk through a little green garden with many orange trees and, from here, you’ll be able to observe the Lonja sorrounded by nature.

If you plan to visit Valencia, you can’t miss this beautiful place! About 1500 tourists visit it everyday! It’s very cheap and located in a central position!

On differetent review web sites, such as “Tripadvisor”, you can read a lot of opinions about this singular place. Someone says it’s a real artwork, a monument. Other people affirm that “The stalls are amazing in their variety, color and quality of products”.
It’s considered something you have to visit at least once in a lifetime, a “Jewel in Valencia”.

Some curious facts: 
– On the occasion of its opening, a large meal for more than 2,000 poor people was distributed by the young people of the Valencian social elite;
– In 1839, in this same location, the precedent of the Central Market, the New Market, was inaugurated;
–The Valencian neighborhood didn’t like this new building because it was considered too small and because it didn’t have the roof. So, for this reason, the City of Valencia decided to carry out a contest for a new construction.

If you’re a beer lover, here you can taste many varieties! Spanish, German, Dutch or Italian ones. There is a very nice shop where you can find an interesting exhibition for all tastes.

This huge “Food fight” usually lasts 1 hour, after which the town square is covered with tomato debris.
It is estimated that in 2015 almost 145000 kg of tomatoes were thrown.

Rules of the festival: 

– Do not throw bottles or hard objects
– Do not tear or throw tee-shirts
– Squash tomatoes before throwing them to avoid hurting others
– Keep a safe distance from trucks
– Stop throwing tomatoes after the second starter pistol shot
– Follow the directions of security staff

This party’s origins:

All started the last Wednesday of August in 1945 when some young people were in the town square to attend the Giants and Big-Heads figures parade. The young boys decided to have a place among the retinue of a parade with musician, Giants and Big-Heads figures. The energy of these young people made that one participant fell off. The participant flew into a fit of rage, started to hit everything in his path. There was a market stall of vegetables that fell victim of the furious crowd: people started to pelt each other with tomatoes. The following year, the young people brought the tomatoes from home. They had made history without being conscious about it. La Tomatina was banned in the early 50s, then the festivity was again allowed with more participants and more frenetic feelings.

They’re simple, traditional, nothing more than a flour,  water and salt dough, fried in abundant oil and served at the moment with a sprinkle of sugar.

Their origin is not so clear at all. One theory suggests that they were prepared by Spanish shepherds in place of fresh bakery goods. Churro paste was easy to make and fry in an open fire in the mountains, where shepherds spent most of their time.
Another theory is that they were brought to Europe by the Portuguese from China where they had tasted the youtiao, a fried and salty dough of golden color. It would be these same sailors who changed salt for sugar and, when they arrived in the Spanish coasts, the recipe became popular.

If you want to delight yourself with these sweets, maybe sipping a hot chocolate, don’t miss this ancient and traditional cafe Horchatería Santa Catalina: a typical place which has been working for 200 years in order to offer his guests the best.

Tiles and mosaics will you welcome in a very warm room where fast and efficient   waiters will you serve in a while. You can take a sit in one of the chatacteristic tables and enjoy your tasty breakfast or snack.

In this same cafe you can taste barley-water too: a typical cold and refreshing drink loved in Spain, particularly popular in the Valencian community and in the Murcia region, Alicante above all.

Depending on the University of Valencia, maybe the most ancient in Europe, It was founded in 1557 as a medicinal plants’ garden.
From 1829 to 1863 scientific techniques improved and it was possible creating greenhouses to make climatization possible.

Its collections contain many species and specimens, including palms, among the largest in Europe, five greenhouses (the tropical plants ones and the four 19th century greenhouses that contain ferns collections, Orchids, bromeliads and insectivorous plants), the shadow, aquatic plants, fat plants, the aquarium and an aviary.


Inside you can contemplate a greenhouse built at the end of the 19th century and an elegant vine-trellis in wrought iron of the 1900s, both recently restored.
From 1987 the Botanical Garden has taken back the function of study and scientific investigation, besides of being an university study. 

The association that manages the Garden organizes musical appointments,art exhibitions, english courses on the naturalness for children or visits with guide inside the Garden itself.

Here you can enjoy your free time and a beautiful uncontaminated nature just staying in the city center! Silence, fresh wind and great colours will you drive through those footpaths during your visit.

Do you know that the Circuito de la Comunitat Valenciana was completed in 1999? It held rounds of the MotoGP and Spanish Motorcycle Championships in the same year. The Cheste track has several layouts, running anti-clockwise with varying lengths. MotoGP events are held on a 4km track comprising of five right handed corners, eight left handers and a 650m straight. Although the track is regarded as quite small, the pit complex contains 48 garages whilst the stadium style grandstands can seat up to 150,000 spectators! The circuit lay out allows all parts of the track to be seen from any stand. That helps to create a unique atmosphere enjoyed by Spanish and international riders alike.

The Circuit is located in Cheste, approx. 15 km from the Valencia Manises International Airport and 20 km from the Valencia City Centre.
