The weekend of races were full of controversy and heated racing.

Marco Started at 15th place in the beginning of the race and by the 7th lap, he had already passed 12 cars. Ferrera maintained his spot for the rest of the race.

Ferrera Racing’s Blue Honda Civic initially employed a 2.1 liter MP3 engine which failed on the team. At this point the engine was replaced with 1.8 liter unit from KAW Hi Performance. Tuning is provided by Leonardo Woo (Chino) of KAW.

Despite the smaller engine size, Marco raced hard behind cars like BMWs while competing in the MP3 class. On Saturday, Ferrera Racing team was fruther handicapped by seized brakes. This problem was fixed overnight and the “Team” was ready to race on Sunday.

At this, time president of FARA, Reinaldo “Tico” Almeida – suggested that Ferrera race in the newly formed MP4 class. Marco dominated the MP4 class and took 1st place.

FARAUSA was established in the State of Florida, has been very active in the
Community, especially in the Spanish segment and proved to be very important to the auto industry and its products. Bob Van Epps is the race director.

The Association is predominantly for semi-professional drivers that will be competing with the most experienced pilots in every class, all under affordable and equal level playing field and technical specifications.

Next race is scheduled on Homesteasd International Speedway (Feb 28th) and Ferrera Racing has a big surprise inside the box - for everyone to see at the races.

Marco is the team owner/driver for Ferrera Racing. A native of Rio, Brasil, Ferrera has over 30 years of racing experience under his belt. The team has recently relocated from Colorado to South Florida.

Ferrera racing is currently active in FARA Touring Car Series, Florida Karting Series, Champions Cup Series. Ferrera Racing also a driver school offering beginner to advanced – race car driver education. This was my first track test with the Honda Civic SWC since October 2006 race in Laguna Seca California. We did this test day in order to check the car conditions after small changes before the Homestead race on June 6 and 7 weekend. The car showed some performance as well as some minor problems too. We took the car back to the shop and try to fix the Gear Box problem that we had when the car was hot or after 10 laps during the tests We couldn’t figured out or even take the box out because first we want try to fix a possible clutch problem and there was not much time left to fix the gear box itself for the weekend race.

During the Race Weekend in Homestead , the problem got worst during the practicing, qualifying and heat race on Saturday June 6th, but we did get to qualify the car for the race on Sunday after all. So we went to the sprint race on Sunday June 7th just to get more track time on the first time driving int the Homestead Track and did some more tests in the car itself. During the race the gear box was working only with the 2nd and 5th gear sometimes the 3rd gear but I manage to finished in 8th place on the MP3 Class, that was also good because I could use that race to get familiar with the Fara Race organization in Florida. I have to thanks especially to my crew and in particular to our new Mechanic Aaron that just moved to Florida from Up State New York in helping me with the radio communication and Pit work through out the Saturday Practicing as well as the Racing Day too.

Because the next Fara race is in August we plan to open the gear box to fix it and get a better adjust on the gears ratio as well as the computer rev limits for each gear too. We also plan to make some improvements to the rear spoiler to get more down force as well as the front splitter that works in aerodynamic together with the rear spoiler too. And once again take for testing ASAP at the PBR. Overall was very good get on my own racecar again after so long even if I got the Florida drove last year in Nurburgring Germany and SPA Belgium because those was rental Race Cars, and it is not the same when you have a racecar custom made for you.

Brazilian Front Runner Takes Championship in Homestead Remaining Race

Marco Ferrera Wraps Up Homestead Championship with Solid Win

Brazilian Front Runner Takes Championship in Homestead Remaining Race

San Diego, CA (April 24, 2009) – Marco Ferrera, Brazil’s two-time karting champion recently stole the championship taking the trophy for the remaining 2008 Homestead Karting Club Series. Hosted in South Florida on April 15Th (pictured at right with Homestead track owner), the remaining race was increasingly competitive with aggressive and spirited drivers.

As many as 10-15 seasoned drivers participated in the highly-competitive race. “I practice constantly,” states Ferrera. “Karting enables me to prepare during the break of the Pro Race Car series in the U.S. and Europe.” Additionally, Ferrera won the Grand Opening of the Palm Beach International Raceway (pictured above with his CMW Engines team manager Ariel Castro).

A software engineer by trade, Ferrera’s drived race cars almost full time until the age of 22, and now wants to focus a majority of his efforts on Race Car club racing. "Club racing is a great opportunity and will greatly benefit my driving,” states Marco Ferrera. With his impressive racing background, Ferrera will focus on European Formula Karts KF1 and concentrate a majority of his efforts on Race Car Florida club racing.

Ferrera prefers KF1 due to its speed, carries an engine, no shift gear but as fast as the ICC Shifters, and the opportunity to participate in the European Formula Kart class. Ferrera will continue to practice with karting and understands the importance of the practice on the raceway, but will move forward to focus on Florida Race Car club racing as a way to progress his driving career.

Unlike many professional drivers, Ferrera wasn’t born into a family of racers but had access to High Performance cars as well as computers. A native of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Marco Ferrera is a Brazilian Formula Ford Champion and winner of the Series Championship. Ferrera has made a significant place for himself in the world of racing as one of the top new pro drivers.

For additional information on sponsorship opportunities please visit: www.ferreraracing.com or email: ferreraracing@yahoo.com

Media Contact: Lindsey Baker Lindsey@thinkbigmedia.com

Marco Ferrera drives Nurburgring for 1000 kilometers

TEAM HEXIS - ASTON MARTIN & NURBURGRING

Marco Ferrera drives Nurburgring for 1000 kilometers

After the factory testing SPA-FRANCORCHAMPS, Marco Ferrera crossed from Belgium to Nürburg, Germany, this time to support Hexis Racing Team at the ADAC 1000 km Nürburgring. Organized by ADAC since 1953, the race was competed on the traditional 22.8 km long Nordschleife ("Northern Loop") between August 15 -17. Team Hexis concept was established in 2001 and the team first competed on 2002 season with it’s red and grey single-seaters.

The team obtains a pole position and place on the podium at its first participation in a Formula Renault race, 2 victories in 2003, 3rd place in the French Formula Renault team championship and debuts in Grand Tourism in the Porsche 996 Cup in 2005. HEXIS Racing owes its performance to a synergy of the technical, geographical and above all human resources. Marco spend time on the track with Hexis Energy Drink marketin director Marcel Dietz, talks are in process to bring the Hexis brand and the racing team to States.

The racing team is based on the LEDENON track. Over 400m² of workspace are retained for maintenance and the development of the 3 Aston Martin DBRS 9 race cars. Team drivers are Frédéric Makowiecki - Jean-Claude Lagniez, Julien Rodrigues - Manu Rodrigues, & Pierre-Brice Mena - Thomas Accary. First day of driving was brief with only 6 guided training laps at “the Ring”. After the initial orientation, Marco spend the next 6 days switching between the BMW and the GTI.

The cars in question here are modified versions of the popular models. They were suplemented with beefier suspension, roll cage and other racing basics. Both cars also included the F1 style paddle shifters, which according to Marco was superb and crisp but proved untrack-worthy because of the automatic, unnecessary upshifts. Marco calls these “semi-racing cars”, “but overall it was fun”, he adds. After driving for 1000 kilometers the quick and nimble GTI proved the better weaponry to tame Nordschleife. With its’ shorter and narrower wheelbase, it just was the better choice for Marco on the narrow track at Nurburgring.

The Golf had proven it’s race-worthiness last year at 24 Hours of Nurburgring, finishing right after the Ferrari and Lamborghini teams in 8th place. If you one day decide to drive Nurburgring, opt to smaller, nimbler GOLF, that is Marco’s advice. Marco Ferrera has future plans for racing at the Endurance Series, the 24 hours of Nurburgring. Home to the Raidillon Eau Rouge, the cynosure of every driver, Francorchamps circuit is a magic triangle between Francorchamps, Malmédy and Stavelot. Originally built by Liège aristocrats in 1920s, the track follows a magnificent route through the breathtaking scenery of the Ardennes. Today the seven kilometer track is the driving force behind the entire local economy. 1’43’’726 (241 km/h) lap record is held by Michael Schumacher(2002).

Back to the Aston Martins, Reflecting on the two cars; Ferrera admitted to being able to turn faster lap times in the V12 DBS, which is heavier, wider and longer the Supercharged V8. According to the “Racing Pro” faster laps were a direct result of the better breaking performance of the DBS with its’ carbon composite setup compared to the ceramic brakes found in the V8 Ferrera quotes “I was able to brake much later in the turn while on the wheel of the DBS, the brakes were supple and never gave the feeling of the spongeness I experienced in the V8. This alone makes the DBS feel like a real race car.” During testing Ferrera clocked 50 laps, switching between the two test vehicles (Aston Martin DBS, Aston Martin V8 Supercharged Vantage). Earlier in 2008 Ferrera himself had purchased a supercharged V8 here in US, hence he was in no foreign territory when it came to driving Aston Martins on the race track.

Ferrera has designed and manufactured his own specialty aftermarket parts to amplify the performance and handling of his V8. Since the test day at Belgium, a carbon-fiber front splitter has been in the works. The splitter greatly increases down force and utilizes a specially designed front air intake channels that deliver much needed cool air to the front calipers. Ferrera’s new design will eliminate the fading syndrome he experienced in the race-track, caused by the extreme heat generated under hard driving. Other additions to his personal V8 are the wide-rectangular exhaust tips, borrowed from the Porsche GT3 and a rear carbon fiber spoiler. These uber high specialty, custom parts will be made available to other

Aston Martin owners under Marco Ferrera Racing logo. At the time of this article, the company was is progression of their photo shoot for the upcoming parts catalog for Aston Martin. After the Aston Martin factory testing day at Belgium, Marco left for Germany to show his support to Hexis GT Masters team, competing at 1000 km Nurburgring. Marco spend the week with President of Hexis Group, Michel Mateu and team manager Philippe Dumas. While at Nurburgring Marco also took the wheel of Rent Race Car and drove for a total 1000 kilometers on the 22.8 km track. Race Two of the heated series hosted national pro levels drivers along with local favorites, alltogether fighting for the points lead. With track temperature nearing 90 degrees, we had a longer day of racing and races conceded until late in the afternon whereas race one was cut short due to torrential rains that weekend.

During qualifying Marco clocked a 49.427 mph top speed (42.488 mph in race one) with a best time of 50.904 seconds (59.311 in race one). Qualifying in 4th for the heat races Marco moved up to 3rd place, 6 seconds behind 2nd place winner, national champion from CRG Racing Carlos Castro. Ferreras total time for the heat race was 6.50.015, his best lap was 51.437. A loose steering column and a narrow rear axle contributed to slower laps during the heat race, but these problems were resolved by the time the afternoon session race.

With his Vortex powered number 15 Zanardi, Ferrera maintained his 3rd place position in the session race finishing behind William Isais and Carlos Castro. Marco is still the “the points leader” of the series. Marco Ferrera snagged the win at race one which was held on August 30th. He has a 100 point lead over the 2nd place holder; William Isais.

“This weekends poor performance was a result of our engine selection. The CRG team got 1st and 2nd with their Pariila powered karts”, Ferrera commented after the race. Ferrera Racing has ordered a Parilla motor directly from Italy, which will replace the existing Vortex unit we used in Race one and two this year. The Parilla is 20 lbs lighter with a considerable power advantage over the Vortex engine.

In the mean time Eddie Pol has been named the Pit Crew Chief replacing Garry Williams “We are expecting much better performance and a top finish at the next race, I am excited becoming part of Ferrera Racing”, Eddie commented after the races. Race Three will take place in November 2nd at Homestead Go-Kart track adjacent to the International Speedway. The Homestead Karting Club Series consist of 6 races.

If you’d like more information about this topic, or to schedule an interview with Marco Ferrera, plase send an email to fmarco@marcoferrera.com

Easy Pick Up for Marco Ferrera “First in Race One”

M A R C O F E R R E R A

HOMESTEAD KARTING CLUB SERIES – SUMMER SEASON OPENER

Easy Pick Up for Marco Ferrera “First in Race One”

Despite “less than ideal” conditions for racing, Summer Points Series - Race One was held on Sunday, August 31st at Homestead Karting track next to the International Speedway.
