Tomorrow is GameStop’s Trade Anything Day and I just had to draw my first comic since 2020. I’ve been looking for my Apple Pencil for weeks and I searched harder than ever for it, and whaddaya know… it was in the same laptop bag pocket I’ve searched twice already. Hiding in the corner of it. I wish Apple’s Find My app could find that, as it costs over $100.

I got a new cat in 2021, after Zack died in 2019 at the age of 20. Meet Skillet, named as such because as soon as I brought him home, he jumped into a skillet.

What else is new with me? This year I’ve had a strong focus on emergency-preparedness, which came in handy when I got laid off last month. I’m prepared enough that I’m actually enjoying the unemployed life, but of course I’ll have to get income SOMETIME soon. I’m surprised how much I’ve saved just by not eating fast food anymore. Healthier, too. I actually have time to cook breakfast and sit down to eat it.

The third weekly roundup of Inktober sketches!

This week I had 2 days that were too busy to work on this and I combined prompts for a unique take. While I’m enjoying the daily drawings quite a bit, these doubled-up prompt drawings are almost too tempting to do. I couldn’t think of anything for “sling” that everybody else wasn’t already doing, but combining it with “tread” opens up a few possibilities.

And yes, Captain Picard is a legend. I might have been watching Star Trek: The Next Generation when I came up with that idea.

Nick might be a legend as well. I’m actually surprised I haven’t drawn any Zootopia art until now.

It’s time for the second roundup of Inktober sketches!

Day 10 includes a first look at Cinnamon, a ferret that’s been mentioned in one comic so far. In fact, it’s my first look at him as well, so consider it an early draft.

I was busy on day 11 and considered just doing 2 sketches the next day, but when I saw those two prompts next to each other I couldn’t resist combining them.

For the first time ever, I’m finally joining in on this challenge and so far I’m having a lot of fun! The German shepherd then laughs, "You should've seen your face, Maxwell! I can always count on you to scare easily and not fight ba- what are you doing?"
Maxwell is rolling up the newspaper even tighter and informs him, "Activating... cone... OF SILENCE!" hitting the German Shepherd across the face with the somewhat cone-shaped roll of newspaper.

Garrett just continues to stare hazily at his computer screen as he responds, "Would've been done already if I hadn't taken the time to program that stupid bar."

The best part of getting a new solid-state drive for my computer was getting the dust out for the first time since I built the computer 5 years ago.

The ferret is getting the dust out of his desktop computer with a can of compressed air. Suddenly a clump of dust in the form of a rabbit squeezes out of the PC and says, "FIVE... YEARS... will give you such a crick in the neck!"
The ferret coughs, "Are you a genie?"
"No, dummy, I'm just a dust bunny-eeeeeeee!" retorts the rabbit as the ferret uses a Dust Buster handheld vacuum to get rid of it.
From inside the Dust Buster, the dust bunny belts out, "Uh, I mean 'OH GREAT ONE WHO SUMMONS ME... please set me free?"

The computer spits back an error with every password choice. "Password must contain at least one number", "Password must contain at least one special character", "...cannot have any repeated characters", "...must contain at least one emoji", "...must not insult the password field", then finally "Password database programmer must not be physically threatened by users driving to our headquarters".

Avoiding Spoilers

I seriously hope none of the joke guesses turn out to be true. Squirrel Girl should have her own movie first.

I actually sought out spoilers so I knew what NOT to include here. I mean, what if Squirrel Girl was a surprise cameo? I didn’t want any of my joke spoilers to be real spoilers.

The ferret is walking through the toy department when he turns and reacts, "What the flerken?" Filling a wall is toys from Avengers: Endgame that have various things I have covered with black rectangles because there are spoilers galore. A box with "That pivotal scene!" at the top is covered up with a spoiler label. "New thingamajig!" with "Don't look!" covering the box. An action figure has "New weapon?" covering it so you don't see the spoiler. An action figure of Rocket Raccoon inside the Infinity Gauntlet is not blocked out. A random thing in an action figure's hand is covered up so you don't get THAT spoiler. And finally, a box with the title "Squirrel Girl defeats Thanos" is covered up with just the word "chitter". "I'm trying to avoid spoilers, Marvel!"
