Florida’s First Coast Countdowns to Start of THE PLAYERS Championship

Florida’s First Coast of Golf will welcome the best golfers in the game next month when Ponte Vedra and TPC Sawgrass play host to this year’s THE PLAYERS Championship. Sergio Garcia will defend his title against the game’s top names, beginning May 7th.

In addition to witnessing what many consider the 5th major in person, those attending this year’s tournament will have an opportunity to experience something new. Fans will be able to get in the action with this year’s new “Stadium Village.” This interactive experience will offer three golf simulators.

The Stadium Course’s 16th, 17th, and 18th holes are often called the toughest finishing holes in all of golf. These are the three holes the simulator invites fans to challenge. Those visiting the village can recreate Davis Love III’s and Fred Couples’ eagles on No. 16. Others will naturally be drawn to the famous island green at the UBS 17th Challenge. And a replica of the 18th green will allow visitors to putt for birdie, and their own championship.

In addition, for the third year in a row, Jacksonville will host THE PLAYERS Downtown Experience at the Jacksonville Landing. From the Kick-off Program Wednesday, May 6th, General Program May 7 & 8, and leading up to the Main Program on Saturday, May 9th. Golf fans will find the “Nine Holes At The Landing” (interactive golf games) food, beverages and an autograph session by PGA TOUR and Champions Tour members.

In addition to hosting the PGA’s best every year, the TPC - THE PLAYERS Stadium Course host’s guests seeking a stay and play vacation experience. That’s right, you can play the same course the pros play.

THE PLAYERS Downtown Experience kicks off Wednesday, May 6th at The Jacksonville Landing with golf related activities in conjunction with First Wednesday Art Walk. Golf enthusiasts can catch up on the day’s events with live sportscasts and championship highlights throughout the day on Thursday and Friday and nightly entertainment in The Jacksonville Landing courtyard. On Saturday, May 9, fans can experience “Nine Holes at The Landing” complete with fee golf experiences including a nine-hole putting challenge and other interactive games, drink specials and food merchants. World Golf Hall of Fame Putting Championship

The World Golf Hall of Fame’s annual putting tournament will again pit amateur golfers in Northeast Florida against each other for the title of World Golf Hall of Fame Putting Champion. The championship will take place on the Hall of Fame’s 18-hole, natural grass putting course and allow participants the chance to win more than $10,000 in prizes! Qualifying rounds will take place over two consecutive weekends; Saturday and Sunday, April 18 and 19 and Saturday and Sunday, April 25 and 26.
