This is our little Damien Hirst retrospective tribute.  These skull telephones with flashing eyes are great fun and very cool.  The skull telephone is covered in grey rhinestones and the front of the face lifts off to show the keyboard.   The phone comes complete with the telephone adapter and flex.  You won’t be disappointed as these telephones are even better in the flesh – no pun intended!

Milly was launched in 2000 by American designer Michelle Smith. After spending three years as an intern for Hermès, Louis Vuitton and Christian Dior in Paris, she returned to New York and Milly was born! Smith describes the Spring 2012 collection as “modern and geometric both in cut and print, softened by earthy materials such as wood and tortoise resin”. ‘Beautiful dresses to make every woman feel beautiful’- that’s luxurious fashion line ‘Project D’ in a nutshell. Created by good friends Dannii Minogue and London designer Tabatha Somerset-Webb, the range was initially launched in 2010 and this week Fifi Wilson is delighted to announce the arrival of the brand in both the Chelsea and Edinburgh stores. The Spring Summer collection for 2012 is wonderfully varied, a fusion of “sophisticated glamour” and “rock ‘n roll edge”. You can see the effort that’s gone into creating pieces to encompass a wide range of tastes and you’ll be sure to find a dress that has been created with you in mind. You’ll have to be quick though- no sooner had we welcomed some of the dresses than we were waving them off. Fashion is a highly influential industry, and one that’s adored by men and women the world over. However, it can sometimes seem that fashion forgets its audience. Flick through the magazines today and you will see an array of very similar looking boys and girls – tall, young and very, very slim. Unfortunately, that’s not always reality and we understand that at Fifi Wilson. We are made up of an array of differing sizes, shapes, age, and ethnicity – something that the All Walks campaign is trying to promote further within the industry.

As a designer in training at the Edinburgh College of Art, I am very privileged to be part of this initiative, and to be promoting change within the fashion industry.

As part of the project I was to scout my own model to have strut down the catwalk in May.

Through a chance encounter at Fifi’s in Edinburgh, I met my muse and model – Nicola Loudon. Nicola works in fashion herself and has a keen eye for the latest trends and new designers – a perfect match!

Based on a concept of interlocking and juxtaposing shapes, I have designed a structural maxi dress out of fine jersey and leather. I am still in the construction and toile stages at the moment, and have had the first fitting with Nicola. Just a bit of fine tuning to the construction of the piece and then I’ll be ordering fabrics ready to make up the real deal!
