Middleweight Joey Beltran and light heavyweight Rousimar Palhares have been suspended after failing their post fight drug tests for the UFC on FX 6 event, which took place in Australia.

Palhares tested positive for high levels of testosterone while Beltran was positive for anabolic steroid, nandrolone.

UFC Vice President of Regulatory Affairs, Marc Ratner, relayed the news via the website MMAWeekly.com and said:

“The UFC organization has a strict, consistent policy against the use of any illegal and/or performance-enhancing drugs, stimulants or masking agents,”

“Both athletes have agreed to serve a nine-month suspension retroactive to December 14. They must pass a drug test upon completion of the suspension before receiving clearance to compete again.”

Both fighters recently fought at the “UFC on FX: Sotiropoulos vs. Pearson” event last December 15, 2012 at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre in Queensland, Australia.

Beltran who earned a unanimous decision win against Igor Pokrajac in the prelim card, had his win turned into “No Contest”. While Palhares who fought in the main card, suffered a first round TKO loss to Hector Lombard, so his record still stands.

USA Today Sports, has revealed the names of the participants of The Ultimate Fighter, Season 17. The latest season features twenty-eight cast members.

The show also features UFC 159 headliners, light heavyweight champ Jon Jones and Chael Sonnen as opposing coaches.

TUF 17 is set to air on January 22nd, 8pm via FX. Its first two episodes will air for two hours. It will feature the 28 fighters as they battle in the elimination round, which will trim down its cast to 14.

“The whole house is terrified of this guy. Everybody,” White said. “I picked this fight, and this guy is lined up with the guy I’m telling you about, and the guy has a nervous breakdown in the house over the weekend.

“This guy scared the living s— out of everyone. It’s awesome.”

Defending light heavyweight champ, Jon Jones and contender Chael Sonnen are set to headline UFC’s upcoming pay-per-view event, UFC 159. UFC made the announcement last Tuesday evening.

Talks of the upcoming bout, started this past summer, when the to fighters have reported to have met, after the cancellation of the UFC 151 event. Dan Henderson suffered from an injury which forced him to pull out of the event.

Jones recently fought and earned a submission victory against former champ Vitor Belfort at UFC 152. It was his fourth straight title defense win.

While Sonnen last fought at last year’s UFC 148, where he lost to UFC middleweight champ Anderson Silva. Sonnen moves back up to light heavyweight from 185-lbs to face jones in UFC 159.

“UFC 159: Jones vs. Sonnen” is expected to be held at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on April 27, 2013.

According to a report from Brazilian website SporTV, newcomer Pedro ‘The Rock’ Nobre will replace George Roop at the upcoming “UFC on FX: Belfort vs. Bisping” event.

Nobre will be reportedly fighting fellow Brazilian Yuri ‘Marajó’ Alcantara.

UFC on FX 7 will be headlined by a middleweight title matchup between former champ Vitor Belfort and Michael Bisping. The event will be held at São Paulo, Brazil’s Ibirapuera Arena on January 19, 2013.

Nobre previously joined TUF: Brazil. He was a featherweight contestant, who unfortunately failed to qualify for the reality series, after suffering from first round KO loss. He last fought and won a decision and TKO victory at a Bitetti Combat 13 show.

Alcantara was first scheduled to face Johnny Eduardo, but was replaced by Roop, who will now fight Nobre, in just less than two weeks notice. He recently suffered from a decision loss, in his bout against Hacran Dias at last June’s UFC 147, which ended his thirteen fight win streak.

The official weigh-ins for the Invicta Fighting Championship 4 is set to stream online this Friday. It will take place at the Aladdin Holiday Inn Hotel Downtown in Kansas City.

The competition will take place this Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at the Memorial Hall. The pay-per-view event ($7.95) will air live via InvictaFC.com.

Invicta FC 4 will be headlined by the the promotion’s first ever straweweight bout (115-lbs), featuring Carla Esparza and Bec Hyatt. The event will be co-headlined by a fight between Shayna Baszler and Alexis Davis.

UFC’s latest event, “UFC 155: Dos Santos vs. Velasquez II” went down tonight at Las Vegas, Nevada’s MGM Grand Garden Arena. The show started at approximately 6:35pm EST (3:35pm PST).

Headliner’s Junior dos Santos and former title holder Cain Velasquez are featured in a heavyweight title rematch in the main event. Lightweights Jim Miller and Joe Lauzon are showcased in the co-main event.

The prelims streamed live via Facebook at 6:35pm EST, while the rest of the card was aired via FX at 8pm EST. The main card started at 10pm through pay-per-view.
