Before that, David calls from his laptop near his kids to talk about how book writing is going and the new trailer for A24’s The Backrooms.

Then, Da7e saw the Charli XCX movie The Moment and since it’s a mockumentary it kind of fits with the topic (enough for a mini segment) before they all jump into Oscar doc frontrunner The Perfect Neighbor, which is on Netflix right now.

Because of the nature of documentaries and this podcast, we assume you know Walt Dinsney succeeded in making Disneyland, Charli XCX released an album called brat in 2024, and The Perfect Neighbor includes a shooting and arrest as viewed through police body cam footage. We don’t think these are spoilers.

This week, David’s solo-parenting attempt left him unable to podcast, so we decided to save our discussion of Alien: Earth and One Battle After Another until next week. First, we attempt to talk about one studio’s panic in the face of the government and that quickly spirals out, then Katey’s seen the new documentary Predators, it’s about the old reality series To Catch A Predator and is about entrapment by the police (partially). Finally, Patches is playing a game that is aggressively annoying to play and loving it, he wants to know if there are other extremely aggressive movies that fail (HIM) or succeed (A Serbian Film? – just kidding, don’t subject yourself) – We’re calling it The Aggression Dichotomy – can you attract someone by media that is constantly daring them to walk away?

Rowling tomfoolery and finally oversteps his lane in a part we needed to cut out (it was a good faith conversation between two hosts who believe trans women are women, not good legal coverage). Then, Da7e and Katey both saw the newest A24 film The Legend of Ochi and have some high praise for it.

There are some spoilers for both Empire movies this week in their segments but those spoilers are VERY slight considering these movies and their visual spectacles.

After a slight delay for a new Ehrlich child, the podcast finally gets around to episode 425 – The Date Quell. Each host has picked a movie that they went on a date to go see, which means personal stories piled on reviews of movies released between 1998 and 2002.
