AN EVER-GREATER ENDOWMENT

For its 23rd edition, the ANDAM Fashion Award is increasing its endowment by 15% over last year’s prize, reaching a record total of €230,000. The ANDAM Fashion Award remains the world’s largest single fashion prize, ahead of the CFDA/Vogue Awards and the British Fashion Council/Vogue Fund, thanks to the loyal support of its sponsors: the Pierre Bergé-Yves Saint Laurent Foundation, LVMH, thecorner.com (the online boutique powered by YOOX Group), Swarovski, Yves Saint Laurent, Galeries Lafayette, Longchamp, Hudson’s Bay Company and Only The Brave, as well as two public institutions, the DEFI and the French Ministry of Culture and Communication.

In addition to this exceptional endowment, the award winner will also have the opportunity to present his or her collection to the international corps of journalists and buyers during Paris Fashion Week in October 2012.

“For its 23rd year, the ANDAM Fashion Award is taking an even stronger international position, the better to reward deserving talents,” explains ANDAM director Nathalie Dufour.

I had the pleasure of finally meeting Hong Kong born designer Six Lee during my short visit to Paris. Six graduated from the world famous Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerpen and showcased his Fall Winter 12/13 collection in Paris. His collection marries British clean cuts tailoring with modern twists.

Showroom Belgium make its first appearance at London Fashion Week. From 17 to 21 February 2012, four Belgium based designers will present their collections at Somerset House. Flanders Fashion Institute asked us to design a video installation to accompany this event.

The video was shot entirely at the Royal Museum of Fine Arts in Antwerp, which is currently closed for renovation until 2017.

The video makes use of this unique location. Like the museum's art pieces, the model, featuring pieces from the designers' collection, is carefully wrapped, stored and transported to other destinations ...

HYERES competition is slowly coming towards us. Last week, the final selection of the ten contenstants was made in Paris. Like every year, many talented young individuals submitted their work. This time over 250 applications were received, from 50 different countries, consisting of a dossier and one finished look.

Maida Gregory, the festival's fashion director and caster , narrowed the selection to 56 dossiers for the jury to examine.

For whole day, each dossier went to through the jury process ,in the midst of men's fashion week at the Yohji Yamamoto headquarters to examine each talent, before deciding on four men's and six women's collections.

Each contestant will fly to Hyères with the rest of their collection in mid-April to prepare the styling, casting and rehearsefor their presentation, showroom and catwalk presentation.

They will competing for several prizes:

Grand Jury Prize (15 000 euros given by L'Oreal Professionel), Première Vision prize (15 000 euros)

Chloé Prize (added in this year's edition)

and finally the Public Prize, which will be awarded on Sunday April 29th.
