Went up to Tom's on Saturday night for his bucks night.

We had pizza (apparently you need a bbq to have a bbq, go figure!), then played a bit of No Limit Texas Hold em, with my new poker chips.

There were 8 of us playing plus we actually had someone deal for us, which was cool.

I made it to the top 4, but got done going all in on a good hand, but the other guys was better!

Tom and Luke were the final two. Tom was by far the underdog, having the shortest stack the whole game, then a few clever hands and ...

Who am I kidding, I'm not sports journo...

End result Tom won, and a good night was had by all!

Hey all you Yanks out there, Happy Thanksgiving!

We celebrated thanksgiving for the first time last night. We have an American girl in our bible study group who is returning to the US, so we thought we'd throw her a Thanksgiving dinner (it was my idea, i'm so cool!)

We had a lovely turkey feast, with cranberry sauce and all (not a bad condiment i might add), then topped it off with a pumpkin pie I made. Apparently it tasted how it should, (i'm not sure how, cause I left out 125 grams of butter). Not the best dessert going around, but it did have a kind of custard tart taste to it.

I should have some photos up on my fully sick moblog any minute now, check em out (I only took like 2 photos)

Eric Idle : The Greedy Bastard Tour

Hey, as promised a quick pro rata book review (I havn't finished it yet)
Synopsis - It's the travel diary of Eric Idle, as he goes on a comic tour of America.

I'm only up to day 15, but it is a very funny book, particularily if you are a Monty Python fan.

I'll post some good quotes later, too tired now...

Anyways, you (yes you) should buy this book and read just as I did (although I didn't buy it, it was a gift)

Long time no blog

Hey all, by all I mean no one, cause this is probally the blog with the smallest reader base in the world, but hey they say talking to yourself is the first sign of intelligence...

Well haven't blogged for a while (lack of fibre will do that to you), been motivated to start again, so enjoy.

Been listening to a few podcasts lately, would love to get in to it, time will tell.

Watching Aussie Idol at the moment, I havn't watched the show before, not my cup of tea, not enough spa action.
They are just about to announce the winner........

Apparently she has a better voice, but Emily is a package deal, I dunno?

She seems a bit cocky, too composed after winning it, like she never thought she'd lose.

The Idol single is a bit crap...

I shouldn't blog while watching TV, this'll just go on forever about rubbish.

Now I hate lifting the lid to the BBQ and letting all the heat escape, cause if it isn't ready it's now going to take longer cause you lifted the lid!!

But this device is a thermometer that hooks up wirelessly to a monitor which you can just put on your belt!

So you can just set the BBQ going, sit down watch some tele, then get beeped when you are needed!

Work - Really quiet

Weekend -
SATURDAY - Went to Newcastle for a mate's (Tom A) engagement party. It was a really nice party, bout 50-60 people. Was really great to catch up with his family, who I haven't seen for maybe 5-6 years! Used to spend a fair bit of time at each other houses, so I knew his family pretty well.
After the party, we checked in to a Bed & Breakfast (Gray's Cottage), it was very comfortable and clean! (much better than dodgy motor inns)
We then went to check out a reception centre with Tom & Anna (his fiance), the place was beautiful, on the lake with a bit of an Indonesian feel to it.
After that, Carly and I decided to catch a movie, so we drove round till we found a cinema. Found a Hoyts and saw "The Longest Yard", it was very funny and didn't require to much thinking, which is what I felt like.
After the movie we went back to the BnB, watch a bit of TV, caught the end of Parkinson, he had Samuel L Jackson, really interesting story, he used to be a crack addict!
SUNDAY - Easy morning, had a little look round Newcastle, most stuff was closed, bought a couple of Star Wars books, Had lunch with Tom & Anna on one of the main drags of NC, was nice.
Drove back just on 2 Hours! I'm a legend...
MONDAY - Did nuffin, was great!

The Monday Wrap...

Well had a pretty average week last week, cept I have been a bit crook for a few days with either a sinus or chest infection, nothing too serious, just lotsa gross stuff coming out of my head.

Working week was quiet, had Thursday off sick, battled to get in Friday cause I had a bit of stuff to catch up on, and worked Saturday too. It was wally week at work, and every nut-burger in Menai chose to come in and annoy me this week. We had some bizarre requests and questions to say the least. Had all the metal halo lights replaced in the shop, cept the new ones have a bit of a yellow tinge to them which is going to have to wear in with me.

Church stuff was good, Bible study went smoothly on Wednesday after our John Stott study was "Donnafied". Chatting with the boys was excellent again, it's turning out to be something I really look forward to during the week.
Saturday we had a progressive dinner, Donna came over our place while I was at work and cooked up about 5 Choc puddings for the dessert.
All the food that night was great, and it was really good to have quality Christ focused conversations with people (with a bit of nerd talk thrown in for good measure). I was really encouraged after that night.
Sunday night was part two of Tim's sermon trilogy, was once again very interesting and helpful. He's an excellent preacher and teacher.

Sunday was my only day off work this week, and it was a good one! Slept in a little bit, lazed around the house with Carly, read a bit of my book, then went out to Cronulla for a walk in the mall Was a really relaxing day.

Now back to work, only 5 days this week, got the long weekend off and we are going to Newcastle for Tom Anlezark's engagement party, should be nice. I managed to get the last BnB in town, every other place was booked out!

Anyhow that was the week just past, nothing else to add. Over and Out!

Had yesterday at home cause I was crook as a chook (sympathy welcomed), didn't do much, just stayed in bed and tried to recuperate, watched Planet of the Apes - Conquest of the Planet of the Apes (such a complex movie series, but that's another blog entry), watched a bit of "Lost" which I *cough* downloaded *cough*.
ANYWAYS, point is I had all day at home with nothing to do, perfect time to be posting away on the eighteen24 forum, but I just didn't really feel like it. Which draws me to the conclusion I may have procrastination issues...

The Best of Nikki Webster...

Browsing through some nomadic CD/DVD stand that the Marketplace has every month, I flicked past "The Best of Nikki Webster" CD...

...

How on earth can Nikki Webster compile a "best of ".
I won't go in to the obvious lack of talent (it'd be too easy), but she can't of had more than 2 albums, and maybe 3 singles released in her short pathetic "career". Unless the album has about 3 tracks on it, my only conclusion is that this is a way for her record company to release another tweenie album, with out having to endure a Nikki Webster recording session.

Has she peaked at the ripe old age of 18? Is it all f-grade celebrity dance offs and claytons porn magazines (the porn when you're not having porn)? Why didn't she just settle for Sydney Olympic fame, instead she inflicts us with her music covers and lipsync best of album. I'm sure it would have been a great line to use down at 'Carmens', "I was that girl in the 2000 opening ceremony", oozes class doesn't it!

A best of album should be a work of art, not a "we couldn't fit these crappy songs on the b-side" compilation.

Thankfully this "best of" album was in the bargain bin, lets hope all her future endeavures go straight in there alongside it.

The worse part is, she is richer and more 'succesful' than me, maybe selling out is the key to making a buck nowadays...

Don't Ya Hate it When...

Bit of a seinfeld type observation of mine...
Don't ya hate it when you are walking somewhere, and a stranger is walking at a similar pace, and as you go to overtake, or they overtake you, there is that period where it feels like you are walking together?
Happened yesterday to me, and to make it worse we were the only 2 on the path. It was just ackward. Luckily the other person veered off the path to talk to some friends, but I could sense that they wanted out of the ackward social moment.

I don't even know why I've created this blog, guess I am just completing the transformation in to Über Geek. I don't even have that much to say, and I doubt anyone will read it, so I guess I'll be talking to myself.

Bit bored at work today, it's been quiet, done all my work, and there aint really anything to do. I hate these days that I'm on my own, get really boring.

I'm on a bit of a Star Wars high at the moment, just saw 'Revenge of the Sith, and it was excellent, tied all the movies together so well.

State of Origin tonight, skipping bible study to see it at the in-laws, bit of a tradition over the last few years.

Guess I should get back to some form of work, sigh...
