The hockey-masked one’s reboot is beginning to take shape. Friday the 13th, directed by Marcus Nipel and staring Derek Mears as Jason Voorhees and Amanda Righetti as Whitney, slashes into theaters on February 13th, 2009. Some recently released Friday the 13th pictures can be found below.

I loved the first teaser trailer for Taken. This Taken trailer gives you more information on Liam Neeson’s character. “Bryan [Liam Neeson], a former secret agent living in the US, is divorced; he is fond of his 17-year-old daughter Kim [Maggie Grace] who lives with his ex-wife and her new husband. Kim wants to take a vacation in Europe with her friend Amanda [Katie Cassidy], and together follow the Europe tour of U2. Kim’s mother allows this, but Kim also needs permission from Bryan. Since Kim fears that Bryan will not consent because of cautiousness, she pretends that they will only go to Paris.” The fact that Luc Besson produced this film is another inducement to see this film, especially if you are a fan of The Professional.

The Bat takes the weekend Box Office by a land slide and sets a few records along the way. The Dark Knight took the top spot this weekend (no sh*t) with $155.3 Million dollars. It also set the one day record on Friday, July 18, 2008 with $67.85 Million, betting Spiderman 3, the previous record holder ($40.4 Million on June 30, 2004) and set the best midnight record with $18 Million. In one weekend, The Dark Knight has almost made back its production budget of $180 Million. Mamma Mia! was Number Two this weekend with $27.6 Million. Third was Hancock with $14 Million for a total of $191.5 Million. Journey to the Center of the Earth was Number Four, bringing in $11.9 Million. Fifth was Hellboy II: The Golden Army with $10 Million. Wall-E, Space Chimps, Wanted, Get Smart and Kung-Fu Panda rounded out the top ten respectively.

With The Dark Knight in theaters, DC Comics and Warner Bros. have begun the marketing push for their next great comic book adaption. The opening volley was The Watchmen trailer, which appeared in front of The Dark Knight on July 18, 2008. Being helmed by 300’s Zack Snyder, Watchmen looks as if it will be something very special. I suggest you read the Watchmen graphic novel before seeing this film. There are bound to be character details and subplots left out or only alluded to in this film. The Watchmen grace the cover of the newest edition of Entertainment Weekly. The best of the pics are below. Enjoy.
