Pietisten Mission Meeting

Pietisten will be holding their first annual Mission Meeting on Vashon Island, WA, on Saturday, August 14.

The meeting will feature a message from Pietisten’s own Mark E. Swanson, pastor at Wiley Heights Covenant Church in Yakima, WA. Poetry Editor Art Mampel will grace us with some poetry. And, a string band will play some of your favorite hymns.

The meeting starts at 4pm, but you’re welcome to arrive earlier in the day for a picnic lunch, and an afternoon of games and social time. We’ll have a potluck dinner following the meeting.

Mars Edit Revisited

Long ago I tried Mars Edit, but never really gave it much of a go. I recently downloaded an updated version, so I’m trying it again. I suppose I ought to put a photo in here, just to see how that works in the new version, so here goes.

UPDATE: Ugly grey border gone!

Just plugged in the new Thesis theme. Turning out to be more coding work than I’d anticipated, and still not entirely happy with the results, but it’s coming along.

Like what up with that ugly grey border around the photo, and how to rid myself of it?

of annoying computer issues, I recently upgraded to WordPress 2.9 and my stylesheet broke. I think this is an issue with the K2 theme, but I’m not sure. Considering a new theme.

LaunchCodes fixes an annoying problem

One of my few issues with the Snow Leopard upgrade was how Apple chose to ignore the creating application’s launch code. So when I create a .png file, for instance, in FireWorks, and later click that file to open it, it no longer opens in FireWorks, but in Preview. Which stinks, IMO.

Enter LaunchCodes. $5 bucks fixes the problem, rather gracefully.

Leave it to Stephanie and Kendall to do up Steph’s 40th birthday party just right. The celebration took place at the Ballard Elk’s Club on Saturday, August 8th, and the theme was Prom Night – Forever Young.

Raccoon in pool – Phinney Ridge

During the recent heat-wave we had a nocturnal visitor to our daughter’s backyard pool. Not only did this raccoon thoroughly trash the pool itself, by the time it was through with its swim, it had dragged the garden hose over to the pool in an attempt to refill it with water. We caught a little bit of his antics on film though our bedroom window.

Elsie’s first haircut

On a sunny Seattle afternoon in the merry month of May, Elsie got her golden locks trimmed for the very first time. Sandy had pondered the style (bob) and the timing (now) long enough and took scissors to hand, Stella shot video, Frances gathered curls into a ziplock for posterity’s sake, Aunt Steffi offered artistic guidance, and Elsie put on a brave face and sat through the ordeal as if she’s been to the salon on a regular basis for years and years.
