This news could be good or bad for fans of The Dark Tower, it really does depend on which side if the fence you're on with regards the possible adaptation of Stephen King's seven book series (Amazon.co.uk / Amazon.com). Previously we had heard that J.J. Abrams was set to direct with Damon Lindelof and himself writing and producing the epic. Sgt. Rock in the future

The adaptation of Sgt. Rock, the World War II comic character, has been having a rough time on the way to development and Joel Silver has apparently been trying to get the film made for some twenty years. Now though there's more than a whiff it might happen, there's a stench of something much bigger. Francis Lawrence, yes the man behind I Am Legend (Filmstalker review), is set to direct the film which was written by Chad St. John, and Akiva Goldsman has joined as a producer alongside Silver. I came across this trailer for the documentary The Good Solider and was instantly engaging. I'm a huge supporter of our troops, politics and everything else aside, and I always find the real people's stories of being a soldier incredibly moving and fascinating, as well as being educational for all. It wouldn't take a betting person to place a bet on Hollywood never being able to remake Oldboy (Filmstalker review) , whatever the reason, but when Steven Spielberg and Will Smith were announced as being involved in the production, and more than that started seriously talking about moving it forward, I was flabbergasted. To be fair the rumours for Spider-Man 4 have been going crazy, and more often than not they've been wrong. However it really is getting close to production and there really could be casting going on now - previous rumours were coming out without even a director on the project to decide - and the latest rumour is that there are going to be two villains, one male and one female. Ramírez's Carlos the Jackal cut for cinema

Back in November of last year we heard that Édgar Ramírez was set to star as the terrorist Ilich Ramírez Sánchez also known as Carlos the Jackal after a copy of the Fredrick Forsyth novel The Day of the Jackal was found amongst his belongings, however the final work is getting a very limited release before being cut down for a U.S. release. Apparently the film will be heading to The Sundance Channel for a three part mini-series release, and then cut down to be released in American cinemas and on video on demand.
