I love when record labels offer free digital download with the purchase of vinyl. It saves me a lot of time as I don’t need to rip the wax in order to listen to it on my laptop or on my iPod. But here’s the problem: Sadly, many labels only offer MP3 downloads.. and that sucks. Just give me FLAC or don’t bother. Really. I’m sure it’s fixable, right?

Intense remix of Burial Hex‘s “Book of Delusions” courtesy of Berlin-via-Buenos Aires duo Mueran Humanos. The only official release I could find is this already ridiculously overpriced CDr bundle. I did order the LP from Brave Mysteries earlier this year, unfortunately, I was too late and my copy arrived without the bonus CDr. It is really too bad this track is not widely available.. it owns so hard.

Update: A small re-run of the remix CDr that originally came with the first 150 orders of the Book of Delusions LP is now available via the Brave Mysteries online store. 50 copies only, so act fast!

TELEFUNKEN, 1980

Stunning Berlin school record and one of my favorite LPs to come out of Germany from the late 70s/early 80s period. Produced by Klaus Schulze and released on the legendary Telefunken label, this wonderful piece of wax set me back almost $50. But talk about money well spent: this record is epic in every sense of the word.

ASTRO:DYNAMICS, 2012

Lovely second release from the Swedish producer Axel Backman, aka 1991 – a follow-up to his debut High-Tech High-Life cassette on Opal Tapes. Out via London-based Astro:Dynamics imprint, 1991 fuses lo-fi electronics, vintage tape distortion and dark synths into one hybrid of an album. If you’re into the Pye Corner Audio type of sound, you’ll definitely enjoy this. The track “Distortion of Time” is worth the release price alone.

THE SECRET INITIATIVE, 2012

I have to admit I’ve never heard of this mysterious label until one of my fellow music-obsessive friends raved about it on Twitter. The A side, “East Of The Northern Star,” is a proper dubbed-out early Detroit techno trip and the B-side, “Half a Life Ago,” doesn’t disappoint as well. The anonymity factor sure adds even more to the mystery so if anybody have any intel who’s behind it, please do let me know!
