French Business Schools CERAM and Groupe ESC Lille Announce Merger

Two French business schools, CERAM Business School and Groupe ESC Lille, have announced that they will merge to create a multi-campus business school in France. The name of the new school will be announced at a later date, and the first intake for the Grande Ecole is planned for September 2010, and will offer MBA programs, along with other undergraduate and graduate degrees.

Annual MBA Fair Set for August 29 in Monterrey, Mexico

The annual Monterrey MBA and Job Fair in will be held in Monterrey, Mexico on August 29, 2009.

So far, 27 business schools have confirmed their attendance, including Thunderbird, NYU, Berkeley Haas, Columbia, Toronto Rotman, IE, INSEAD, SDA Bocconi, ESADE, Manchester, Toronto, and HEC Paris are among schools registered to send representatives. Representatives from Mexico's own EGADE - ITESM will also be on hand.

ENPC in Paris Announces Two New Joint MBA Programs

French business school Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées (ENPC) School of International Management has recently announced two new joint MBA programs: a dual-degree EMBA with Temple Fox; and a full-time MBA program in Casablanca, Morocco in partnership with EHTP (École Hassania des Travaux Publics).

Groupe ESC Rouen Changes Name to Rouen Business School

University of Texas Arlington Introduces Asia Focus in EMBA Program

The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) College of Business has announced that students enrolled in its 15-month Executive MBA (EMBA) program will also be able to earn a Graduate Certificate degree in Asian Business Studies.

New Sofaer iMBA Program at Tel Aviv Recanati Begins in October

Tel Aviv University's Recanati School of Business in Israel will begin the inaugural year of its new Sofaer International MBA (iMBA) program this fall. The one-year, full-time program will be taught entirely in English, and runs from October 2009 to September 2010.

Claremont to Launch MBA / MPH Dual Degree This Fall

Claremont Graduate University's (CGU) Drucker School of Management and School of Community and Global Health are launching a dual MBA and Masters of Public Health (MPH) degree this Fall. Participating students can now obtain both degrees in less than three years.

Indiana and Sungkyunkwan Launch JD/MBA Program

Sungkyunkwan University's Graduate School of Business (SKK GSB) in Seoul, South Korea has announced a new JD/MBA program in partnership with Indiana University's Maurere School of Law.

Candidates can earn both degrees after four years of study, and will spend the first, third, and fourth academic years of the program in Bloomington, Indiana, and the second year at SKK GSB with a Korea-based internship.

SKK GSB was recently accredited by the AACSB. They also run a dual EMBA program with Indiana's Kelley School of Business.

Cheung Kong GSB To Begin Finance MBA in Beijing This October

Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (CKGSB) has announced a new part-time Finance MBA program in Beijing that will begin in October 2009.

Stanford Graduate School of Business Picks a New Dean

Stanford Graduate School of Business (GSB) has selected Garth Saloner to become its new dean, replacing Robert Joss, who is stepping down after ten years in that position. Saloner, who will take over on September 1, has taught entrepreneurship and strategy at Stanford GSB since 1990, and directed Stanford's Center for Entrepreneurial Studies.

Washington Olin to Launch Supply Chain Management Master's

Washington University's Olin Business School in St. Louis will launch a Master of Science in Supply Chain Management (MS/SCM) program in September 2009.

According to Olin, the new, one-year program is "designed to appeal to students with undergraduate degrees in business, engineering, economics, mathematics or science." The specialized degree will also be available to students in the two-year MBA program at Olin.

Harvard Business School to Accept GRE and GMAT Scores

Harvard Business School (HBS) has announced it will now accept both GRE (Graduate Record Exam) scores and GMAT scores for applicants to its MBA program beginning this year.

In so doing, HBS joins a number of other business schools worldwide that now accept GRE scores in lieu of GMAT scores. These include Stanford GSB, MIT Sloan, INSEAD, IE, CEIBS, and Queen's (Canada).

The HBS admissions blog explained the decision: "We think that both tests will provide adequate metrics of what a standardized test can tell us about a candidate."

Harvard also announced that it will only accept scores from the internet-based versions of the TOEFL or IELTS tests for English as a foreign language.

University of Arizona (Eller) to Offer One-Year MBA

The University of Arizona's Eller College of Management in Tuscon, Arizona has announced it will offer an accelerated, one-year MBA program starting in 2010.
According to the business school, students will begin the program with a 10-week intensive session on core business subjects, like marketing, operations, finance, and statistics. They will then join elective courses on the full-time program, "essentially as second-year students."

BI Norwegian Launches Energy Management EMBA Program

BI Norwegian School of Management in Oslo, Norway has launched a new 18-month, part-time Executive MBA (EMBA) in Energy Management. The program will begin in January 2010, and will be offered in partnership with Nanyang Business School in Singapore and IFP School in Paris.

The program involves three study periods in Oslo, two in Singapore, and one in Paris.

According to BI Norwegian, the new program is intended for those who have significant work experience within the energy sector or industries which are closely related to the energy field.

Pepperdine Redesigns MBA Entrepreneurship Concentration

Pepperdine University's Graziadio School of Business and Management is introducing a "six-part MBA entrepreneurship emphasis" for full-time and part-time MBA students enrolled at the school's various campuses in and around Los Angeles, California.

IE and Brown University Announce Plans to Launch New International EMBA

Madrid's Instituto de Empresa (IE) Business School and Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island (USA) have announced a partnership that will result in a new version of IE's International Executive MBA (EMBA) program.

The new program set to begin in the fall of 2010 will be aimed at senior executives with more than ten years of work experience, and will follow a blended-learning format with online learning and face-to-face teaching in both Madrid and Providence.

EQUIS-accredited French business school ESC Lille School of Management will partner with Institute Dar Basile in Aleppo, Syria, to offer an 18-month MBA program to Syrians beginning in September 2009.

Hult Offers Incoming MBA Students Additional Master of Finance Option

Hult International Business School is offering its incoming September 2009 MBA class the option of pursuing a Master of Finance at no extra cost. The accelerated master's program would immediately follow the one-year MBA program, and can be finished in six months.

According to Hult, the new program will cover topics including Financial Analysis, Company Valuations, Investment Banking, Portfolio Analysis, Investment Strategy, Financial Instruments and Capital Markets.

Prospective applicants who submit a successful MBA application before April 30, 2009 will be given a 25,000 USD scholarship to cover the additional tuition fee for the Master of Finance.
