ESB Reutlingen and Tulane Announce Dual-Degree MBA

ESB Reutlingen, a top-ranked German business school, and A.B. Freeman School of Business at Tulane University in New Orleans will be starting a dual-degree MBA program beginning in the winter semester of 2008-09.
The program runs for two years split between New Orleans and Reutlingen in southern Germany, and is taught in English. Graduates get an MBA from both institutions.

Aspen Institute Publishes "Guide to Socially Responsible MBAs"

The Aspen Institute Center for Business Education (CBE) has published its first "Guide to Socially Responsible MBA Programs," a guidebook for prospective MBA students containing information about 130 MBA programs with a "commitment to teaching and researching socially and environmentally responsible business practices."
The Aspen Institute also publishes its "Beyond Grey Pinstripes Alternative MBA Rankings" every two years.

HKU, Columbia, and LBS to Launch Joint Asia EMBA Program

Columbia Business School (CBS), London Business School (LBS), and the University of Hong Kong (HKU) have announced a new joint "EMBA-Global Asia" program for students with at least five years of management experience. The course will run for 20 months, and will award a joint MBA from the three universities. Students must study for two weeks each in New York and London, and eight weeks in Hong Kong.
The inaugural class will begin in May 2009.

New Master of Management in Health Care Program at Vanderbilt (Owen)

Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management in Nashville, Tennessee has announced it will begin a new one-year Master of Management in Health Care in August 2008. The program is designed to give medical professionals with at least five years of work experience the "essential business knowledge and skills necessary to manage organizational processes, programs and people." Along with this new program, Owen also offers a full-time Health Care MBA, as well as various executive, certificate, and custom programs. For prospective applicants to the Master of Management in Health Care program, an information session will be held at Owen on June 24, 2008. Thunderbird Announces Partnership with Zayed University in Dubai, UAE

Thunderbird School of Global Management in Glendale, Arizona has announced a partnership with Zayed University in Abu Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Thunderbird faculty will help teach Zayed's new Master of Science in International Business degree, which could begin as early as September 2008. Thunderbird says it hopes the collaboration will expand in the future. Thunderbird also has connections with universities in China, India, and Germany. UC Davis Moves Its MBA Program Closer to San Francisco

The University of California, Davis (UCD) Graduate School of Management has moved its growing Bay Area Working Professionals MBA program to the city of San Ramon, California, just miles east of San Francisco. Georgia State (Robinson) Launches EMBA Program with Moscow State

The J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University has announced a partnership with Lomonosov Moscow State University to launch a dual-degree Executive MBA (EMBA) program in Moscow, Russia.  In so doing, Robinson becomes the first US business school to launch an on-site joint EMBA program in Russia.
Students who complete this new "Executive Leaders" program will get an EMBA from Robinson College, and a Master's of Science (MS) from Lomonosov Moscow State. 
The courses will be taught in English one weekend a month by Robinson and Moscow State faculty.  The program begins January 2009.

Indiana (Kelley) To Offer Executive Certificate in Business of Life Sciences

The Kelley School of Business at Indiana University Bloomington is offering a new online Executive Certificate in the Business of Life Sciences (ECBLS) starting in September 2008. According to the school, the program is designed to help engineers, researchers, scientists, logisticians, and attorneys "learn the business behind the life sciences."
The program is part of Kelley's recently founded Center for the Business of Life Sciences. Kelley is also offering this course to participants in San Diego State University's MBA Program for Executives in Life Sciences.

MBA Students Increasingly Value Social Issues, Says Study

The Aspen Institute Center for Business has published a survey of MBA students at 15 business schools, which reveals that while salary is still a high priority, a business's social responsibility is emerging as a top concern, especially among women. Getting a job with a positive impact on society, however, decreases for men as they move through the MBA program. The findings also suggest that while students' values may be changing, "many of them sense those beliefs are not valued by employers or linked to career opportunities." The survey, "Where Will They Lead? MBA Student Attitudes About Business and Society" involved nearly 2,000 students at 15 business schools in the USA, Britain, and Canada. Lingnan University Teams Up with Adelaide for New HK MBA Program

Starting in July 2008, Lingnan University in Hong Kong will offer an MBA program in partnership with Austrailia's University of Adelaide. The program will last 18 months, and will be taught in English. For more information, please see the press release announcement.

Three Asian Universities Launch Double-Degree MBA

Fudan University (FDU) School of Management, Seouls Korea University Business School (KUBS), and the National University of Singapore (NUS) announced the three schools are launching a joint MBA program focusing on Asian business - the "S 3 Asia MBA" program. Graduates of the 18-month program will receive MBA degrees from two of the three universities, and a certificate of attendance from the third. Courses during the first semester are in Shanghai, with the second and third taking place in Seoul and Singapore, respectively. S 3 denotes the three cities where students will study - Shanghai, Seoul and Singapore. The program is in English. For more information about the program, please visit the program website .

Princeton Review Publishes 2008 Business School Rankings

Princeton Review has published their annual "Best Business Schools," a ranking of US business schools in eleven different categories, including "toughest to get into" (Stanford), "best professors" (Virginia), and "most competitive students" (BYU).  The other categories include "best classroom experience," "best career prospects," "best campus environment," "most family friendly," and "greatest opportunity for women."

Berkeley (Haas) to Host Graduate Business Conference on April 3-5

Student leaders from 40 MBA programs worldwide will be attending the 25th annual Graduate Business Conference during April 3-5 at the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.
According to the Haas website, the conference "gives MBA students the chance to network, learn best practices in student government, and gain inspiration from leadership experts. It is organized by the Graduate Business Forum, an international group for MBA student leaders."

Leipzig (HHL) Joins the Euro*MBA Distance-Learning Program

HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management has become the sixth member of the European consortium offering the Euro*MBA distance-learning program.
One of three AACSB-accredited business schools in Germany, HHL is also the only German school in the consortium.
