There's a Comic Life 2 beta out for Windows—anyone try it out?:

Comic Life from Plasq has been a pretty popular app on the Mac for creating comic-y layouts and generally having fun with your photos.

Now Plasq has released a beta for Windows that runs on XP, Vista, and 7. Think you’ll give it a try? Let us know how it goes.

If you start scrolling a page by dragging a scroll bar, you can get back to the exact position you started scrolling from by moving the mouse away from the scroll bar. Useful to quickly glance over other parts of the document and get back to the line you’re reading.

A keyboard shortcut to quickly rename files in Windows Explorer

Once you select a file or folder in Windows Explorer, you can hit F2 to quickly edit the item’s name. If you have selected multiple items, though, only the first one will get the renaming treatment.

This should work in Windows XP, Vista, and 7.

This default Windows 7 wallpaper depicts symbols from a variety of cultures, including Native American (the tortoise), Buddhism (lotus flower), the Chinese creation story (the dragon), and Norse (the ice wall). Do you recognize any other cultures or stories in this image? Anyone know who made it?

When it loses focus, the Zune Desktop Software 4.0 fades out the now playing information (track time, name, artist, and so on). Instead, a dynamic collage features photos, stats, and other information about the artist. When one moves the mouse back to the software, the details are faded back in. In this clip, the mouse is immediately moved away from the software, and returns (in the top right corner) around 0:16.

When one adds new media to a watched folder, Windows Media Player 12 automatically detects and adds these files to the music library. The new media can be added from a number of other sources: Amazon MP3, The Zune Marketplace, the iTunes Store. As soon as WMP12 is launched, the new files are assimilated.

Windows 7 (and possibly earlier) Media Center allows for a border-less, distraction-less, movable window of live HDTV. This is useful for, say, watching the World Series while also grading Midterm exams and writing work-related email. The window can be dragged anywhere.
