Chris Bosh joined the Heat in 2010 with LeBron James.

Not everyone is ready to leave the Miami Heat.

Hours after LeBron James decided to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers, free agent forward Chris Bosh agreed to terms on five-year, $118 million deal to re-sign with the Heat, a person with knowledge of the negotiations told USA TODAY Sports. The person requested anonymity because the deal had not yet been announced.

Bosh was faced with a tough choice, as the Houston Rockets offered him a maximum salary contract and the chance to play with Dwight Howard and James Harden and become a part of a title contender again. Yet the Heat are clearly taking the aggressive approach to ensure that they remain title contenders as well, as they made the move to secure Bosh and are in the process of trying to do the same with fellow free agent Dwyane Wade.

As for who takes James' spot, the Heat have had talks with Luol Deng's representatives Friday afternoon, a person with knowledge of Deng's situation told USA TODAY Sports. The person requested anonymity because of the private nature of the talks.

Deng, the former Chicago Bulls and Cavaliers small forward who has been seeking a salary of about $12 million annually, has not been able to agree to terms with the Atlanta Hawks because of their difference of opinion on his market value. The Charlotte Hornets and Washington Wizards also were thought to be on his short list in terms of interested suitors, but the Heat situation appears to have piqued his interest above the rest at the moment. The Rockets would provide a good fit for Deng as well, but previous discussions between Deng's representatives and Houston officials indicated they were hoping to spend about $10 million per year on a player like Deng if Bosh ultimately declined.

Bosh averaged only 16.2 points and 6.6 rebounds a game last season but has been a central figure for the Heat in the four-year run. The nine-time NBA All-Star plays out of position at center for Miami and stretches defenses with his shooting range and size. He often is looked to for big shots down the stretch, even from three-point range.

With James leaving town, Bosh now should take a bigger role. Miami hopes he can return to the type of production he had with the Toronto Raptors, for whom he averaged 24.0 points and 10.8 rebounds a game in 2009-10. Yahoo Sports first reported Bosh's deal.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) - The Tampa Bay Rays have taken batting practice against a female high school knuckleballer

Evan Longoria, Jose Molina and David Price hit against 17-year-old

from Durant High School in nearby Plant City. They did it before Monday night's game against Pittsburgh.

Tampa Bay manager Joe Maddon met Baker recently at an awards ceremony and invited her to Tropicana Field. Maddon says the junior who plays on her school's baseball team was outstanding and has a knuckleball that "moves nicely."

Baker admitted that she was intimidated at first, but had a "great time" while pitching from about 10 feet in front of the mound and behind a protective screen. She displayed good control, but did hit Longoria in the back with a pitch.

Molina swung and missed a couple of times, and Price hit a hard line drive up the middle.

Baker says the late major league knuckleballer Joe Niekro taught her to throw the fluttering pitch about 10 years ago.
