Saturday, July 10 is the date chosen for the formal dedication of the Anglican Mission Church, King of Kings, in downtown Dover.

The mission church’s new home is 152 South Governor’s Street, just one block from the historic Green. Accessed from the city sidewalk through a lovely courtyard, when one enters the door to King of Kings, the “storefront” disappears as one enters directly into a beautiful sanctuary appointed with all that is needed for Anglican worship.

The core congregation of King of Kings has been worshipping together for more than 15 years. Nine months ago, the church took a bold step and moved from their worship space in the basement of a suburban home to the present location in the heart of the capital city. They hope not only to be more accessible to worshippers but also to be able to minister to the surrounding community from their downtown location.

Right Reverend Richard Lipka

The Vicar, Fr. Ernest Alt, sees the July 10 dedication as a “new birth for King of Kings.” Presiding at the service will be The Rt. Rev. Richard Lipka, Suffragan Bishop for the Missionary Diocese of All Saints, which is part of the Anglican Church in North America. All are welcome at the dedication service, which will take place at 1:00 p.m., with a reception immediately following, as well as at regular services each Sunday at 10:00 a.m.
