U.S.Takes Four Paralympic Medals in Whistler

Whistler (BC), Canada - Thursday was a medal-filled day for the U.S. as four athletes earned hardware in the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games downhill, with Alana Nichols (Farmington, N.M.; sit-ski) winning gold and Laurie Stephens (Wenham, Mass.; sit-ski) silver in women's sitting, Danelle Umstead (Taos, N.M.; visually impaired) taking bronze in the women's visually-impaired and Mark Bathum (Seattle, Wash.; visually impaired) winning silver in the men's visually impaired.

Stratton Mountain, VT - It was a beautiful sunny spring day in Stratton Friday for the slopestyle finals at the 6Star Burton U.S. Open, and riders were lighting up the perfectly shaped course. Switzerland's Sina Candrian was the standout of the day, claiming the top spot for the women to move her into the Swatch TTR Tour lead. On the men's side, Mikkel Bang of Norway owned the slopestyle course to claim the top spot for the men.

B.C. Ski Resort Extends Spring Season on Near-Record Snowfall

Maggie Valley, NC - Officials at North Carolina's Cataloochee Ski Area have decided to extend its 2009-10 ski and snowboard season for two additional weekends. Beginning March 27, skiers and riders will pay weekday rates for day skiing sessions only on March 27 and 28 as well as April 3 and 4.
