Two ladies in our church had just finished evangelism training and were picking out tracts from my store to go hit the streets with. They both loved the Curved Illusion tracts and decided to buy those.

As we were driving to our fishing hole they realized to their horror that they had bought tracts that required them to actually speak to people! Gasp! They're big chickens just like I am, and we had a great laugh at their blunder. I was so encouraged when they used them anyway with great results.

Gospel blunders…making us smile and keeping us humble. ;-)

Answer: They are all things that have happened this past week to different members of our dear church, and they all serve as reminders that we aren't guaranteed another moment; that life is but a vapor.

What does this have to do with you? Well, if you are a Christian I hope it compels you to go share the Gospel while you still have time.

The Blessings Of A Heart Attack

"My heart attack was God's plan. It was a blessing as it allowed me to see how much He loves me. He showed me how blessed I was to have so many brothers and sisters in Christ who prayed, called, visited, and emailed me. He showed me the value of having a great local church to care for me. He showed me how much I need Him to even live for one more heart beat. He also showed me that He does not need me, but He allows me to do part of His will while I am here.

Our God is awesome. He is completely sovereign and does whatever He wants. Thank You Jesus.

Is 46:9-10 'Remember the former things long past,

For I am God, and there is no other;

I am God, and there is no one like Me,

Declaring the end from the beginning,

And from ancient times things which have not been done,

Saying, ‘My purpose will be established,'

Ps. 115:3 'But our God is in the heavens; He does whatever He pleases.'

Col 1:16-17 'For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.'

Rom 8:28 'And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.'"

June 24 – Ray Comfort's Audacity movie released today. Had a very good bible study with the ladies' from church. Two ladies shared how they have been passing out The Biggest Question DVD. Impromptu dinner and evangelism at Applebee's after study where I wished I had a copy of The Biggest Question and Audacity on me. ;-)

June 25 – A friend watched Audacity with her daughter who just came out of a lesbian relationship. Thank you God for making Audacity.

June 26 – Woke up to hear the Supreme Court ruled 5-4 in favor of homosexual marriage. God's perfect timing is so evident in releasing Audacity two days ago. Friend Kristen watched The Biggest Question with her unsaved parents. After watching about 10 minutes her mom said, "I can tell you right now I don't like that Todd Friel guy." Lol.

June 27 – Ran out of tracts while out running errands. Ahhh! That night hit the streets for evangelism with several from Heritage Grace church.

June 28 – Church, finally! Thanking God the ruling on gay marriage came out on a Friday and not a Monday; waiting two days to be in full fellowship with the brethren was long enough. Three people we met during last night's evangelism came to our service today – one Hindu and two Christians.

June 29 – Working for Wretched, answering emails, sending thank you's working on a project for www.LifeIsBest.TV. Meeting with the Hindu lady that came to church yesterday.

June 30 – Kristen is scheduled to have dinner with her parents again…mom wants to share more thoughts on The Biggest Question. Glad they're still thinking about what they watched.

Very thankful for a full week. :-)

May God help us to reach the lost, to pass out tracts, DVDs and bibles where we are right now to those around us as we go about our days.

The Righteous Aren't Always As Bold As A Lion. Lol

After ladies’ bible study last night, my friend Kristen and I were hungry. It was late, so we headed to the closest thing still open, which was Applebee’s. It was a beautiful night and they have a nice patio outside, so we decided to sit outside along with about 6 other people sitting at various tables. Immediately, we gave the young guy that seated us a tract. He actually pulled up a chair while he tried to answer the I.Q. test question on the front. Turns out he was Seventh-Day Adventist, so we got to fully share the gospel with him.

After we had been eating for a bit, a very effeminate guy with a purse walks into the patio area and sits directly behind me. Our eyes got huge. We had just been talking about Ray Comfort's new movie, Audacity, which had been released that very day. Oh, how we wished we had an Audacity tract to give to him! A Biggest Question DVD or a 180 Movie tract would be just as good though, we decided. People love getting free movies.

"I think I have some in my car," Kristen said and she quickly jumped up to go look, but came back empty handed. She couldn't find any.

By now the patio is FULL of people who all seem to be smoking, and one table even had a cute pit bull puppy. Suddenly, fear gripped me just thinking about giving them tracts (and it was not because of their dog, lol). I start digging through my bag trying to find a tract that would allow for a quick getaway and come up with my "Doggit" tract and start tossing them across the table to Kristen.

"Why are you giving them all to me?!" she said.

"Because I'm suddenly terrified," I said. "You tract the whole patio and I'll give a bathing suit tract to the guy with a purse behind me."

"Okay," she said. She didn't seem terrified at all.

We paid the bill, grabbed our stuff and our tracts and she took off to the table of 5 people with the pit bull. I turned around to the effeminate guy behind me and say, "Here's a gift for you. Don't turn it over until you think you know the answer. I'll give you a hint it's not a bathing suit, uh, I mean, it's not an asian outfit!" I totally blundered, and then see Kristen leaving the patio. She had only tracted the pit bull table and was now making a beeline for the car. I was quickly hot on her heels digging for my keys, but couldn't find them. Panic is setting in. Did I leave them on the table? “I hope not!”

By this point Kristen was no help. She was just sitting on the curb laughing hysterically and taking my picture as I'm frantically digging for my keys.

"I thought you were going to give tracts to everyone!" I said.

"I was, but then I chickened out." she said.

Keys! I found them! Praise God!

We sat on the curb laughing at ourselves and our fear of man. No angry mob came running out after us. Those people may have been really receptive to the gospel, and hopefully heaven will show the rewards.

When I got home Kristen texted me, "I just looked in my backseat and there's a whole bag full of 180 tracts."

Figures. Lol.

One of the hardest things about being married to an unbeliever is when your husband asks you to do something for him and you have to tell him no because your conscience won't allow. Like when my unbelieving husband asked me to make business cards for his hobby/side job that included a slogan that was not God honoring in the least. Despite his excitement I knew I couldn't do it; but how to tell him knowing he wouldn't understand and was likely to get angry?

I prayed, asked for prayer, and waited for him to get home from work.

And then I chickened out.

Things were peaceful in the home, which wasn't always the case because of my faith, and I wasn't looking forward to that changing.

The next day I knew it was only a matter of time until he asked if I had worked on the cards, so I decided to text him:

"I've been thinking about the business cards

and I won't be able to help. My conscience

won't allow. The slogan isn't God honoring.

Not to take anything away from your skills

at all though because they're off the hook

crazy good."

And then, crickets. No reply at all. "What does THAT mean?!", I wondered.

He came home that night, barely speaking to me, so I went for a walk and started praying hard. About two hours later he started talking and acting like nothing was wrong. "What does THAT mean?!", I wondered again. Only God knows for sure.

It's now 5 days later and he still hasn't mentioned anything about my text or the business cards. I'm just trusting in The Lord and praying that He will use that text somehow to save him.

If you're married to an unbeliever too, don’t lose heart in doing good. God knows what He's up to. Just keep running the course. :-)

I love hearing your evangelism stories as they encourage me greatly; even seemingly simple ones like this one that came into the ministry yesterday. Great are the rewards in heaven. :-)

"I have to tell you about my last grocery store trip. I saw the cashier and was certain I had given him a million dollar bill before, so considered not doing it again. But then I saw the sacker was new. I couldn't hand the sacker a million dollars and not the cashier, as that would appear rude. So I gave both of them million dollars and the tract with all four movies on it. The cashier said, "I love these million dollar bills!" So I asked, "Have you read the back?" He said, "Yes, I read all of it." Then I remembered his face again as the cashier that told me once, "Look I already have one of these million dollar bills," as he opened his wallet to show me he carries it around with him. I have given him at least three million dollar bills, maybe more.

I often don't hand them out to people I know for certain I have given them to in the past. My reasons: 1. I don't want to be harassing. 2. That allows me to give that tract to someone else who hasn't received one before. But I learned from this grocery store trip that I should not worry about handing a tract to someone more than once. That person just might need another one and he or she can certainly pass them along to someone else who hasn't received one." ~Candace W.

My friend transcribed our phone conversation from earlier today. I'm in blue, she's in red:

"Kristen, hi, I’m at the doctor’s office. I left my juice in the car, and I’m going out to get it and thought I’d call you about what you texted me earlier. Oh, hold on. Oh, here you go sir, don’t read the back’ til you think you know the answer. (Hands him a tract) So, Kristen, what was your text about?

Oh yeah, I just…Hold on. Here you go ma’am. See if you can guess the outfit. I’ll give you a hint, it’s not an Asian outfit. Kristen sorry, what was your question? I didn’t understand your text.

Well I…Hold on. Sir did you get one? Don’t feel bad if you don’t get the answer right. No one has yet today. Boy, I didn’t expect there to be so many people coming in and out. Hold on.

(Laughing) Here you go sir. Sir? He didn’t take my tract.

Tackle him. Now what was your question, Kristen? Sorry, hold on.

(LOTS of laughing) Ma’am here’s a gift for you. Your outfit is so cute.

So, Kristen, what was your question?"

(Laughing) What question?

This lady stopped and read the entire tract, looked back and said "thank you" with a nice smile.

YOU KNOW THE GOD OF THE UNIVERSE.

And HE. KNOWS. YOU.

BY NAME.

If you reeaaally let that sink in, you’ll be like my friend the other night praying before she drifted off to sleep. She said she had a list of people to pray for, but never made it past “I know the God of the universe, and He knows me by my name.” She kept saying that over and over and over, dumbfounded and humbled.

She said it was unlike the first time she met a celebrity, and they said her name. She got puffed up. She remembered when her husband met a Dallas Maverick’s basketball player, and later overheard him telling someone, “Yeah, I know him.”

“You do?” she said to him. “What’s his phone number? His birthday? His mom’s name?”

He got the point.

Her husband had gotten puffed up because he had met someone that many would like to meet, but few would.

The exact opposite happens when you know The God of the universe. Not everybody knows Him. Few will, actually.

And it’s humbling.

If He doesn’t know you today, humble yourself and turn from your sin, cry out to him for forgiveness, and trust the Savior (Jesus Christ). The moment you do this, He will transfer you out of darkness into His marvelous light and He will then know you by name. (2 Tim 2: 19).

I Love Sundays

(Pastor Emilio – Heritage Grace Sunday School)

And, if you were with me at church yesterday you may remember Pastor Emilio preaching in his sermon about some of the verses in 1 John that speak of loving the brethren, which is what we Christians do, we love each other! In fact, one of the highlights of the week is getting to go to church because we can’t wait to see our church family and find out how we can serve them.

Emilio quoted verses such as 1 John 2:10 and 1 John 3:14, which speak of that Agape love, but 1 John 4:7 stuck out special for one church member who was listening. It says, “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.” It stuck out to her because that morning as she was getting ready to go to church, and her unbelieving husband (Allen) was leaving to go on another one of his motorcycle rides, he said to her, “I’m going to have more fun than you are today.”

All that to say, #1 Her husband was wrong. #2 And he just affirmed the Bible. #3 Please pray for Allen’s salvation. :-)

4 Benefits Of Rain For The Christian (Especially those in Texas!)

Yesterday I read that Texas has had enough rain (just in the month of May) to cover the whole state by 8 inches. As much as many of us want the rain to go away, there are at least 4 benefits for the Christian, and if you can think of others I’d like to hear them: Here’s the four:

1. This monsoon of rain reminds us that this isn't our home and to not get too comfortable here. There is much work to be done, and Glory awaits!

2. Watching the news and seeing all things not anchored down being swept away by floodwaters reminds us to keep our minds anchored in Truth lest we be swept away by the culture rushing around us.

3. There's been incredible lightening on display nearly every night. It's both frightening and awesome. Its power caused my friend and I to remain in my car in my driveway for almost 2 hours out of fear of being struck if we got out. And yet that's just a glimpse of how awesome and powerful God is. After all, He made the lightening and controls where it goes. Great reminder.

4. Yesterday, during morning rush hour, traffic came to a sudden stop on the highway because the floodwaters had risen up over the road (pic below). Traffic stood still for hours in both directions until work crews came to the rescue. Seeing all those people sitting there not moving reminds us of Psalm 46:10, “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” And of course, what a great opportunity to get out of your car and pass out tracts!

God has been so patient with the bikers involved in the shootout in Waco, TX, but sadly looks like his patience ran out for 9.

And for those that are left, I have to wonder, "how many God will redeem?"

Some of these guys are the worst of the worst, and thankfully God's in the business of redeeming the worst of the worst.

Remember Saul (Paul the apostle). He was a Christian persecutor. He was the worst of the worst, but God gave him a big heart change. Praying the same for those bikers.

"Now for several days he (Saul) was with the disciples who were at Damascus, and immediately he began to proclaim Jesus in the synagogues, saying, “He is the Son of God.” All those hearing him continued to be amazed, and were saying, “Is this not he who in Jerusalem destroyed those who called on this name, and who had come here for the purpose of bringing them bound before the chief priests?” But Saul kept increasing in strength and confounding the Jews who lived at Damascus by proving that this Jesus is the Christ." Acts 9:19-22

"Went to Chick-fil-A for a very late lunch and realized as I was sitting at the window paying that I hadn't handed out a single tract ALL DAY. Thinking quick, I decided to do some drive-thru evangelism. I usually plan when I'm going to do this so that I can listen to the person ordering behind me just to make sure their bill isn't more than I have on me. This time though, I just held my breath and asked, "how much is the guy behind me? I want to pay for him too." I said a quick prayer while the guy checked. He smiled and said, "$1.94." Then he laughed as I exhaled in relief.

I hope the guy behind me enjoyed reading the back of his Million Dollars while drinking his free tea."

You'll smile big at this one

I was handing out tracts the other day while drinking a really good homemade berry smoothie. It was a good day, the sun was out and I made sure to smile big at people every time I them a gospel tract.

When I got home I just happened to look in the mirror and to my horror I saw that my teeth were filled with black seeds from the berry smoothie. No wonder people were looking at me weird!

This email was sent to me today:

"You know my friend Rae, well she was telling me today that at the hospital where she works they have Christian Chaplains and Catholic priests and Hindu chaplains, etc, and different rooms for the different religions that patients and families can go into and pray. The Christian Chaplain is there the most, so he has the greatest opportunity to speak to the patients and their families. Today she spoke to him and asked him a question that offended him. Here's the convo:

R: 'So, how do you do it?'

CC: 'Well, depending on what religion they are I'll send them to the Hindu room, or the Buddhist room or whatever.'

R: 'No, I mean how do you do it? Like, you believe in God and that there's only one way, so how do you lead them to the Hindu room knowing that's not the right way.'

CC: 'Well, everyone has their own way to find comfort.'

R: 'Yes, but there's only one way to find true comfort.'

CC: 'Well, I TRY to share the gospel with them…', he huffed.

She just stood there staring at him watching him squirm.

It was a quick conversation, but it made me smile. She's only 20 and a baby Christian. She told me, 'I hope I made an impact on him because every time he sends someone to that Hindu room, he's basically sending them to hell.'"

I hope she made an impact too.

I like this perspective.

"Sweet Jesse came up to me after church on Sunday and said that she had to scrape the ice off her windshield this week after our unusual Texas “blizzard”; something she had done far too many times while living up in Michigan. Oddly enough, she said the more she scraped, the happier she became. I instantly added that to my mental list of “strangest things I have ever heard.” But then she went on to explain that the reason she became happier was because of the fact that she had the strength to do it (remember she has Muscular Dystrophy).

Later it occurred to me that we should be thankful that, by God’s grace, we are able to do the things we don’t like to do. (Now I’m talking strangely, huh?) I don’t know about you, but my list of things I don’t like to do is pretty long. Which now means that my list of things I’m thankful for just got longer. :-)"

Went to take my dog Lilly to get groomed, but I didn't have her rabies paperwork, so they wouldn't take her. Instead of getting upset, I ended up giving all the groomers Million Dollar Bills saying, “Thanks a million!” They all laughed really hard.

As I was walking out I saw two cashiers talking to one another at the cash register and since there was no one in line I decided to give them Millions too. One girl read the million dollar question on the back out loud, so I said, “You guys know where you’re going when you die?” The one girl, Leilani, professed the Lord really strong with a very strong gospel message; the strongest one I've heard in a while that had a lot of zeal and passion for the Lord. She unashamedly said the Gospel in front of her co-worker Kaitlyn. Then a customer came up to Kaitlyn’s register, but I could tell that God was really working on her. She said, “I hope I go to heaven when I die,” with a lot of concern in her eyes. Leilani offered to take her customer for her, and I ended up talking to Kaitlyn for a good 15 minutes or longer as she confessed all kinds of things to me. Then we both almost started crying and she said, “It's my son's one year birthday today and here you are talking to me.” I explained to her what it meant to be born again and that God wants her to have a birthday. She ended by telling me that she never works the front cash register, which Leilani confirmed. I'm glad that I missed that appointment and that they couldn't take Lilly in. Romans 8:28.

101 Things Dogs Do To Annoy Their Owners

Have you seen my friend Ray Comfort's book "101 Things Dogs Do To Annoy Their Owners"? It's a hilarious read, and contains the gospel, so my friend used it one day as a gospel tract:

"I was waiting my turn at the salon when I heard the lady before me talking about the radiation treatments she is currently going through. She blasphemed a few times too. Then somehow the subject of her dog came up. Turns out she adopted it from a shelter after it had been tied to some railroad tracks in Dallas, but thankfully was rescued by the train conductor. The story made the news apparently.

I thought, 'This blaspheming dog lover that's going through a life-threatening event really needs the gospel.' I checked my bag and thankfully had a copy of '101 Things Dogs Do To Annoy Their Owners.' She loved it.

That was the first copy I've handed out since I got my order the other day. Didn't take long to find just the right person." :-)

Counting The Cost

After church one Sunday, my husband told me about the membership meeting he had just been in for a dear sister that had been attending our services for several months. She is from another country, speaks good English and has an adorable accent.

She rightly told him that “living for Christ is going to cost you something.” She went on to expound in detail about how she lost her childhood friend because she didn't want her talking about the Lord any more. She told her friend in her cute accent, “You can try to cover my mouth all you want, but a little bubble message will come out of my lips and it will tell of the gospel.” She giggled and said that she then told her, “Sorry, but my love for the Lord is only going to get worse (stronger) over time.”

And that was the end of their relationship. Her friend never wanted to speak to her again.

Saints, we shouldn’t be surprised by this; Jesus told us this would happen and to count the cost. Always remember His words in Matthew 10:34-36, “Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. “For I came to SET A MAN AGAINST HIS FATHER, AND A DAUGHTER AGAINST HER MOTHER, AND A DAUGHTER-IN-LAW AGAINST HER MOTHER-IN-LAW; and A MAN’S ENEMIES WILL BE THE MEMBERS OF HIS HOUSEHOLD.”

Don't Judge A Book By Its Cover

I was at the store last Friday night picking up some goodies for our weekly prayer meeting. I gave tracts to the people in the check out line and was heading for the exit when I saw a man standing there waiting. He wasn't very clean cut.

"He's a tract hater for sure. He's going to yell at me and throw it right back in my face," I told myself.

I shakily gave him a tract, exited the store, and hoped for the best. I made it as far as the Girl Scouts selling cookies right outside, when I heard, "Excuse me." I turned around and it was the tract hater. He put the tract right in my face and said, "This is a FANTASTIC way to share the gospel!" I couldn't believe my ears. His face was radiant. He was totally unashamed of the gospel and was going on and on about it right in front of the Girl Scouts.

I guess God was reminding me not judge a book by its seemingly tract hating cover. :-)

Tag Team Evangelism

I have a friend that loves evangelism and who goes to the same neurologist and MRI place as I do. At one point we both had appointments at both places, either days or hours apart from each other. I was up first at the neurologist and called her after my appointment to tell her how it went and that the doctor professes to be a Christian, and also to let her know which tracts I had passed out, which included giving all the staff copies of Ray Comfort’s Evolution vs. God DVD. I did that so that she would be sure to give out different tracts since we have the same ones. A few days later at her appointment, she did just that, including giving out copies of The Biggest Question DVD. The staff must’ve thought that God was really trying to get their attention.

Then the neurologist sent me to have an MRI. I had never had an MRI before and was pleased when they told me to bring headphones and they would play any music I wanted to listen to off of the Internet.

On the day of my appointment the technician asked me what music I wanted. “It will play throughout the room too,” she said.

Hearing that immediately changed things;

“I want to listen to Hell’s Best Kept Secret,” I said. Since the staff would hear it play also, I decided I would let the audio clip do the witnessing for me.

After I had been in the machine for a while, the technician piped into my headphones to ask how I was doing. “I’m fine. Are you listening?” I asked.

“Oh, yes. We can hear everything,” she said.

After Hell’s Best Kept Secret ended I had them play True and False Conversion, and then left them all with tracts when I was done.

I called my friend to tell her what had happened. My friend has had several MRIs, but this place was new to her. She was excited and said that none of the MRI places she’s been to offer music; that she always just sat in the machine listening to the banging noise. At her appointment she (and the staff) listened to two movies by Ray Comfort, Genius and Noah. Eternity will show the reward. :-)
