Two of her subsequent books were finalists in the Golden Quill Awards and two others were finalists in the Madcap Awards for best romantic comedy. She is also a Reviewers’ Choice Award winner.

Shirley has sold twenty-six novels and now writes stories for Harlequin/Silhouette and Kensington Books about love, family and food’the three most important things in her life (though, there are many days when the order is reversed), using that English degree everyone said would be so useless.

She found a way to combine all her favorite things in her recipes with her own romantic comedy series from Zebra Books, which launched in September 2004 with THE BRIDE WORE CHOCOLATE. The fourth, THE BACHELOR PREFERRED PASTRY, is a February 2006 release, followed by PRETTY BAD in February 2007. Her next Romances will be a linked duet of BACK TO MR. & MRS. and MARRIED BY MORNING in May and June 2007. She also writes for Harlequin NeXt.

Though she’s thrilled to see her books in stores around the world, Shirley mostly writes because it gives her an excuse to avoid cleaning the toilets and helps feed her shoe habit.

I received a lot of encouraging emails from the blog’s readers, and I appreciate it!  While we were unsuccessful with reaching the #1 spot, the book did zoom up to #16!

Collections App for the Kindle Fire

Several people have emailed me about the Collections app for the Kindle Fire, particularly about changes made in the latest version – most of you know what it is, but if you don’t it is a way to organize books you have purchased from the Amazon Kindle store into your own categories on your Kindle Fire.  You can see the app in the Amazon app store if you click here or type in http://smarturl.it/firecollections into your web browser.

We quickly pushed out two versions over the last month.  Major enhancements included:

• Correction of an error caused by a Fire software update.
• The ability to use the app and read your books in landscape mode.
• Various updates to improve the memory usage of the reader application for those people who had more than 1,200 books stored on their Kindle Fire.

The changes have been favorably received by many people who have contacted me, and I’m glad to hear the users are enjoying using the Collections app.  If you have been enjoying the app and haven’t already, I would appreciate it if you would take a few moments and write a review of the app on the Amazon website.
