At Mini Conclave 2010, the Florida Jurisdictional Chapter adopted local Districts for the purpose of benefitting DeMolay and improving communication and operations throughout Florida. A corps of District Deputies were appointed, and are now working with the local Chapters, and the Knighthood-appointed Encampment Knight Commanders.

We are pleased to announce that June 18th-20th will see the District #3 Conclave held at Oviedo Lodge (534 King St., Oviedo, FL). There will ritual assessments for State Conclave practice, brotherhood-building events, a Parent’s Day observance, and a BBQ – with other events throughout the day.

Prices will be as follows, per person:

For the Full Conclave – Saturday through Wednesday:
- 1 to a room: $350.00
- 2 to a room: $210.00
- 3 or 4 to a room: $170.00

For Tuesday Night (Room and Banquet ticket):
- 1 to a room: $100.00
- 2 to a room: $70.00
- 3 or 4 to a room: $60.00

The Registration Deadline has been set for Saturday July 10, 2010. All registrations must be received to the Conclave Director by that date.

Starting May 1, 2010, the $25.00 life membership fee will be required to be submitted for all new initiates in Florida. This fee shall be forwarded to DeMolay International upon the submission of the electronic Form 10, either by check, or via phone with a credit/debit card.

Thanks to the generous donation of Florida Masonic supporters, we were able to delay the collection of this fee. But, starting on May 1st, this charge will again be the responsibility of the member Chapters of Florida.

UPDATE (5/4/2010) – - A new YOUTH price has been offered for active members of DeMolay, Job’s Daughters & Rainbow… This calls for a $5 registration fee, and a $10 Banquet meal! That totals $15 for the opportunity to attend this event! (Obviously the room and any extras would be an additional charge, as outlined in the registration packet).

Chief Lonnie “Soaring Eagle” Cox and Darlin’ Christina “Blue Belle” Allen invite all DeMolays, Sweethearts, Sorority Members, Masonic Youth, Advisors, Masons and Guests to attend our annual event in honor of the State Master Councilor and the State Sweetheart of Florida.

Dress in Western or Native American garments or you may be thrown in the hoosegow!

Bail will be set at $20 and yer REWARD will be mighty fine chow, dancin’ and a heap of fun!

Saddle up, hitch up yer wagons and move ‘em out to the Bahia Shrine in Orlando, Saturday, May 15th, 2010.

Lawmen, Outlaws, Cowboys, Cowgirls, Pioneers, Medicine Men, Native American Braves and Maidens should arrive at 6:30 PM to mix it up! Hoe-down will get started at 7:00 PM and wind up when the coyotes howl . . . or around 11:00 PM.

Lonnie has chosen to donate proceeds from this event to benefit the “Wounded Warriors Project” which assists severely injured service members.

The State Master Councilor has appointed Bro. Dean “Guy” Sutton as the State Junior Councilor. We wish Bro. Sutton well, and expect great things from this choice.

Please watch for communications from the State Line by way of the local District Deputies soon.

It is my honor to be appointed to the position of State Master Councilor. Obviously, I know the great responsibility that this position holds and I intend to meet it head on.

The first thing I would like to accomplish in my term is to get out there and meet the chapter level DeMolays and begin working with them on a personal basis through the use of our newly appointed District Deputies. However, it is not my intention to let them do all the work. I did not climb the ladder of DeMolay to be lazy, and I surely do not intend to let this God-given opportunity slip through my fingers. The other collars and I will meet all the needs of Florida DeMolay, and please notice that I did not say “try.” Trying leaves the possibility of failing, and my friends, failure at this point is simply not an option. Our success is vital, and we can only achieve success with the efforts of every single person that contributes to DeMolay; that includes Knights, Advisors, especially the DeMolays at the Chapter level, as well as the Rainbows, Job’s Daughters, and even guests.

On another note, there are a few things as the head of DeMolay that I simply will not tolerate. If anyone is caught politicking, backstabbing, etc., I will immediately ask you for your letter of resignation; that goes from the Chapter level to me. In any organization, we cannot expect everyone to agree or even to get along, but I can and do expect everyone who gave an oath to DeMolay to fulfill it.

Finally, guys, I am super excited about this opportunity! I am motivated and ready to get things rolling immediately. Just remember that even the State Master Councilor will make mistakes, and if you catch me making one, let me know so we can change it and make things better. No matter how long I am alive I will never stop learning, and mistakes are one of the best ways to learn. Nobody is perfect, but if we strive for perfection, we cannot go wrong.
