Not that I am an avid whisky drinker, but I know many uncles and friends that are. I came across a great website, Scottish Whisky Blender (http://www.whiskyblender.com/index.php ) that enables visitors to design and name their own custom whisky blends.

We ran two workshops and the delegates were a delight. No one left early or threw stuff. Quite a result. Part of what I talked about were the common barriers that prevent people from blogging.

In fact when it comes to most things. When I find something that I like I rarely change my mind or venture beyond my comfort zone. But then along comes Path, the social network that re-invented and re-launched itself in November last year.

Paul Arden 1940-2008Last week's report from CERN that scientists had managed to fire particles faster that the speed of light rocked a few quantum physicists back on their heels. Should the results be further verified, the very building blocks of physics and indeed of Einstein's theory of relativity will be chucked out the window, faster than you can say E=MC2. It got me thinking about the brilliant little book by Paul Arden, 'Whatever You Think, Think The Opposite' in which he challenges conventional wisdom in an attempt to unlock astonishing creativity.

Last week we spoke at the PFS conference in Birmingham about how to engage in 'Inbound Marketing'. One of the strategies we spoke about was creating infographics. Infographics are really just a series of images combined into one large graphic, sprinkled with some text. Sounds boring but the effect is fantastic. They are a great way to explain complex things without writing much text. Mike found this one today so I thought I should share it.

I came across this ad from New Zealand this morning. It's aimed at teens and early twenties males in an attempt to reduce drink driving. But it doesn't go the way of so many other spots in this category that aim to scare and shock with scenes of violent accidents and friends with bloodied faces.

Google + Celebrities = Success?

It is no secret that celebrities use social media to connect with their fans and promote their products. However, the benefits go both ways as social media sites profit from the celebrity participation as it drives people to their sites so they can interact with their favourite stars in a direct way.

Google+ is the new kid on the social block and with a richness of features that is unrivalled. Facebook must be scared.

We have seen many failed attempts to capture some of this space from Google before but Google+ could be different. This time it's war!
